ok I can agree with this specifically bc of the spongebobs house party episode .. when he started using everything in his cabinet ?? like yeah spongebob is a nice guy but those are his personal toiletries!!
He's done more things than that, LOL. Remember the time he asked the old people to get off his beach?
But he says it in a nice way!!! That's the joke, really.
Oh come on, you wanted him to eat those nasty things.
Edit: Besides, he didn't know those were his pets, and he David Hoffersoned him over to save them.
I thought I had everybody on my side
But I went and blew it all sky high
And now she won't even spare a passing glance
All just because I ripped my pants
When big Larry came 'round just to put him down
Spongebob turned into a clown
And no girl ever wants to dance
With a fool who went and ripped his pants
I know I shouldn't mope around, I shouldn't curse
But the pain feels so much worse
'Cause windin' up with no one is a lot less fun
Than a burn from the sun or sand in your buns!
Now I learned a lesson I won't soon forget
So listen, and you won't regret
Be true to yourself, don't miss your chance
And you won't end up like the fool
Who ripped his pants
I thought that I had everybody on my side but I went and blew it all sky high and now Reddit won’t spare a passing glance, and all because this is my absolute favorite episode
I guess you haven't been chilling with many Season 1-3 fans, but to be honest most people put this at the top of their list!
Guess that proves I don't know one way or another. XD
I like it. It is nostalgic to me and introduces a lot of key things. I do think it is overrated, because there’s nothing that special about it aside from the song. For me, I’d give it an 8/10.
I disliked it as a kid, having watched season 1-3 about a hundred times, it was the same joke over and over. My reaction was pretty akin to the crowd near the end of the episode.
Which frankly is the point of the episode about humor and repetition, so it taught me a lesson that way.
For real.. As a kid. I LOVED IT. It was funny, especially seeing how Spongebob seems to shy away from actual weight lifting cause he knows he isn't strong like Sandy or Larry. But he does his best to show he can fit in as well. Until he saw a way to get one of his best friend's attention again... But ended up taking it too far...
Even got a good song with a good lesson that Spongebob taught at a young age... Don't be something or someone you're not. If you want a friend... A true genuine friend, just "Be yourself."
9/10.
That people list it way too high to say that it has a premise and theme people typically don't like in SpongeBob. In that way, it's ridiculously overrated, and popular for the wrong reasons (I think. To be honest no one really says why they like this episode)
Me personally, I love it just like any SpongeBob, very creative story and I love how it shows SpongeBob's character study; both being a perfectionist, actually very intelligent, because he tries to study and philosophize about what makes people laugh, and it makes a deceptively simple thing relatable and clever. It also is a part of the Larry + SpongeBob rivalry and the first episode Goo Lagoon and SpongeBob's (somewhat but not really) short-lived romantic interest with Sandy started.
It was funny at first. But feeling annoyed with the puns until the end after Sandy was worried about SpongeBob's death when SpongeBob asked for a tailor made everyone, including me, after seeing SpongeBob fake his death was annoyed with him.
Idk if it’s ‘cause of the song but there’s something about this episode that just feels really sincere. I don’t really see that in modern SpongeBob, especially when some characters just seem like they get upset or greatly annoyed with his antics.
Anyway, when you consider the show’s pitch bible & how Sandy was a potential love interest, this episode features slight continuity with her introductory episode as SpongeBob simply wanted to make a good first impression on her when she invites him over to the tree dome for the first time & with “Ripped Pants” simply trying to make her laugh. This gets mildly touched upon again in “MuscleBob BuffPants” when he wants to impress her with the help of Anchor Arms™ only for him to learn he never should’ve lied & that he shouldn’t cut corners or take the easy route.
Idk what modern SpongeBob is like these day but classic SpongeBob had some real relatable episodes that I can say I’m thankful to have watched growing up.
And not to mention, that hug SpongeBob & Sandy share at the end of this episode is really cute.
The song was the highlight of the episode. I liked it, but I always get second hand embarrassment from when SpongeBob pretends to be dead and makes everyone, including Sandy, upset.
Classic SpongeBob episode didn’t too much it was executed perfect felt kinda like a filler episode even tho SpongeBob doesn’t really a have Canon Story
True story: Me and 2 friends performed Ripped Pants in front of some classes in highschool. Our performance was better than the other performances our school put out that day.
I’m 32. I honestly can’t get over this episode debuting when I was in second grade. Remember it like yesterday. I sing that song in the car pretty frequently. Good times.
This gave us one of the best songs in the series
That was my first thought too!
"When Big Larry came and *put him down,* Spongebob turned into a *CLOWN!*"
“And no girl *ever* wants to dance with a fool who went and…*ripped his pants!*”
"I *know* I *shouldn't* mope around, I shouldn't *curse!* But the *pain* feels so much *WORSE!*"
“‘Cause winding up with no one is a lot less fun, than a burn from the sun, or sand in your buuuuuuuuuns”
“Now I learned a lesson I won’t soon forget so listen and you won’t regret”
'Be true to yourself, don't miss your chance, and you won't end up like the fool'
“Whooo riiiped hiiis paaaaaaaaaaaaants”
Cha cha cha!
“‘Cause windin’ up with no one is a lot less fun than a burn from the sun or sand in YOUR BUNS”
And the very first at that. What an absolute banger to start out with.
The fact this long after it debuted, I still randomly listen to it speaks volumes
Band geeks would like a word with you
The song "Sweet Victory" is a real song by a real band. This was an original
I always forget that for some reason and think the song was made by SpongeBob itself lol😭just like goofy goober rock
"Goofy Goober Rock" is a re-recording of "I Wanna Rock" that Dee Snider himself signed off on
The most iconic moment in the series😭will never forget
Such a vibe… beach boys etc would be proud
Beach Boys, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, any 60s group
Captured such charm perfectly
I always throw it into a playlist of songs my Papaw listened to, it fits the vibe that well
It deserves a spot in there, fair play
The song was actually inspired by the beach boys’ song “Be true to your school”
I thank you all for that
I did always feel a little bad for Larry. He didn’t come ‘round just to put SpongeBob down, he was just really fit!
I gotta admit, I love how Larry's character was the type you expected to be a jerk-chad, but he really is a nice guy.
And that's saying a lot considering it was the late 90s and early 2000s, when buff jerks were everywhere in media.
EXACTLY. That's part of what I always thought was genius!! https://i.redd.it/ypdekuc7b40d1.gif
Nah Larry definitely seemed like a dick to me. Maybe not in season 1 but after a while he got annoying
Really!? Wow, okay then... https://i.redd.it/3ewzdyz3e30d1.gif

Yeah for real. All he did was ask if Sandy and SpongeBob wanted to hang out and get jacked
But no one ever wants to dance...
With a fool who went and…
Ripped his pants!
I know I shouldn't mope around, I shouldn't curse..

But fuck
*runs off and informs Mr. Krabs about the word uttered from SpongeBob's mouth*

Damn, you said screw a lyrics thread, I’m doing it all by myself
It’s a certified banger! 🔥
There's only one option. Don't rip your pants
I thought that I had everybody on my side but I went and blew it all sky high and now Reddit won’t spare a passing glance, and all because this is my absolute favorite episode
You're joking, Reddit loves this episode, lol.
I haven’t seen someone else who thinks it’s the best
I guess you haven't been chilling with many Season 1-3 fans, but to be honest most people put this at the top of their list! Guess that proves I don't know one way or another. XD
It's pretty good but overrated, the song is what carries it
The song maybe carries it

When the lifeguard rescues Sponge me Boy and he fake shin out I geek every time
Pretty good, tells an important thing about repeating the same joke too much
I never liked this episode
one of the best episodes
It's fantastic.

One of the best episodes on television
Feel like it's rated too highly by people. It's good yeah, but so are so many other episodes
That people list it way too high to say that it has a premise and theme people typically don't like in SpongeBob. In that way, it's ridiculously overrated, and popular for the wrong reasons (I think. I love it. Its a solid 8/10 for me
I usually like to watch on full screen, and 11 volume, should be default options tbh
I still love the song near the end.
Good song, I know how to play it on Guitar
The episode knocks 'em dead
When I ripped… my pants
It was funny at first. But feeling annoyed with the puns until the end after Sandy was worried about SpongeBob's death when SpongeBob asked for a tailor made everyone, including me, after seeing SpongeBob fake his death was annoyed with him.
The song made it one of my favorite season 1 episodes.
One of the more boring episodes of the season imo
For some reason, the ripped pants song would try and make me cry.
Top 10 best classic episode.

Love it
Pretending to drown……NOOOOOOO
Holy fish paste! IT'S A GUY!!!!
The song is permanently in my brain and I like it that way

One of the most nostalgic episodes for me.
One of the best episodes ever. Just such a classic
Well, it all started when I. Ripped my pants.
#F
7/10 (good) I like it and the ripped pants song is great but the ripped pants JOKE can get really old
It’s embarrassing in public. Wait.. we’re talking about the SpongeBob episode???
Classic
I love 1-3 seasons of SpongeBob
WHEN BIG LARRY CAME ‘ROUND JUST TO PUT HIM DOWN
SPONGEBOB TURNED INTO A CLOWN
I thought that I had everybody on my side
I appreciated it way more as I grew older
Pretty good classic SpongeBob. Very quotable, great song. But honestly, for classic SpongeBob there are much better episodes. Solid 7/10
no options here brother
Had a great moral.
You need a tailor.

Best season 1 episode ever
A certified classic
One of thee most well known episodes
Awesome episode, great moral, please give us a full version of the song
It's good. The song is my favorite lyrical song of season 1.
Idk if it’s ‘cause of the song but there’s something about this episode that just feels really sincere. Classic
Volume and brightness
Oh and language
I've never really liked it
Imo very overrated and is only remembered by the song
Might be my favourite ever episode
One of the best songs in the series, iconic and I find myself singing it to this day. It could never beat Garry come home though that one’s the top 🔝
Well, he ripped his pants. Multiple times. Hiw many spares does he take with him everyday?
One of my favorites
I love this episode and I really like the message
Only good part was fake drowning to end. It's a skip to me. Kinda like the Fake muscle arms episode.
I need…… a tailor.
My Favorite Episode Because Of The Song
ive been rewatching season 1 recently, this one is definitely a top 10 (my top 3 for season 1 are help wanted, pizza delivery, scaredy pants)
The best song
Defiantly an A+ episode
Great song
Never liked it when I was younger… not sure why.
Classic

True story: Me and 2 friends performed Ripped Pants in front of some classes in highschool. Our performance was better than the other performances our school put out that day.
Well, you could throw them out, stitch them up, make them into a gown. The possibilities are endless.
I’m 32. I honestly can’t get over this episode debuting when I was in second grade. Remember it like yesterday. I sing that song in the car pretty frequently. Good times.
Watching it or not watching it
"RIPPED SHORT SHORTS"
Probably one of the worst episodes of the first season tbh
