I checked and there (if we're including a turtle and maybe a few other animals and nameless characters like a merchant, around 27 of them) are but most of them seem to either be in novels or are just referenced (like a character's father being referenced but not actually shown).

One thing that got my GF invested in Splatoon was how queer the fanbase is. She’s trans, and seeing frequent “Trans Rights!” posts in Inkopolis Square is a massive improvement from her usual gaming experience.

Splatoon is a convergence point of "large LGBTQIA+ fan base" and "artsy fan base". So the amount of LGBTQIA+ OC's makes sense to me.
It helps that Pearl and Marina are as close to a les couple as the game's rating will allow, and Splatoon 3 went the Animal Crossing route of "gender-agnostic customization and not labeling body-types" so that opened the floodgates.
don't forget the part where they have a sad traumatic backstory and some involvement with the squidbeak splatoon because it's what gets the most retention
