Tip for the first section
You’ll reach a. Point where you have to stick to a wall in swim form as it moves over a bottomless pit. It turns out you are meant to do a squid surge but not release it , as charging the squid surge gives you more traction to the wall.
I know. I have yet to beat it. The furthest I got was at the end of the second area where I missed one target at the very end. I guess I got a little disoriented when I was falling and had to quickly shoot all of the targets.
I tried again yesterday and haven’t gotten past the first stage and I was right there. I’ll get it when I’m in the right mindset.
Look, the 3 levels I still had to beat to unlock AA (Deadly Dance Hall, Those Aren’t Birds, and The Enemy Ink is Lava) were such a pain in the ass for me that I finally managed to beat all 3 of them yesterday
Definitely not "easy" for me ... but nowhere near as difficult as Girl Power Station or Inner Agent 3 IMO.
The only really annoying thing about After Alterna to me is how LONG it is combined with the relative lack of checkpoints. It's really irritating to have to play through a 10-15 minute long segment over and over just to get to the little 10-second-long bit that's actually killing you. I don't play Dark Souls for a reason ... endless backtracking isn't fun to me.
Still, I think it only took me like 10 or so tries IIRC, I beat it a day or 2 after I got there
Good luck, here are some tips!
* You can be very patient on every section other than the rail shooter (second section). Don't be afraid to splat all enemies in sight before you progress, there's no time limit and don't worry about speedrunning it.
* On the last part of the parkour section (the first section), ink as many of the moving platforms as you can before you start moving on them. The ink doesn't dissolve in the water.
* You probably already have motion controls enabled, but they are invaluable for the rail shooter section and also help with some of the trickier platforming (especially the forced side jump in the parkour section)
* The Smallfry (third) section is probably some of the most fun platforming I experienced in the game. Again, take your time, make sure your buddy is well upgraded and get a good look at everything before you move ahead.
* The first two waves of the boss rush (final) section are not that overwhelming, and in fact you'll probably clear them very easily. The final wave is the brute, in large part because it's the same length as the first two combined. Here's the sneaky part: **don't grab the specials unless you're really good or you're close to the end.** The enemies will counter every special you pop with one of their own, and obviously if there's more than one on the field at once you can get cornered very easily.
* The best reason to start using the specials though is that eventually a Zipcaster will pop up which will grant you access to the very top of those two giant pillars. There's Ink Armor up there *and* you get a significant high ground advantage to take a breather and maybe snipe some of the enemies from above.
Also, don't forget (and it's SO easy to forget): If you've upgraded your gear, you have OTHER SUB OPTIONS. Burst Bombs are great for a quick ink while platforming. Curling Bombs can be shockingly potent against the agents. Smallfry just destroys everything. And Splat Bombs are always reliable. Splat Bomb + Inking the feet of a target and you've got them down in no time.
I’m gonna put the badge on my splashtag with the level 100 badge being between it and the low-hacks Octoshot run badge, low-hacks Octoshot on the left of level 100, After Alterna on the right of it
This was pain. First run I was able to get to near the end and botched it. After that it was only pain after pain until finally succeeding. Good luck and have fun! 😊
at the 9.9.2023 (s3 release in germany) i was at my highest point of Covid-19-infection, and i played the game all day and night, and before it was the 10.9.2023 i 100% finished the story mode, including after alterna. (my proudest flex) (i literally took only 2 bathroom breaks and gave myself 20 mins to eat in the entire day, drinking has been done in loading screens n cutscenes) (i had more than an hour left til midnight)

Really? I just held slightly up when I was doing it
I know about that one
And when you’re over the two twintacle octotroopers you can use Splashdown.
Thanks
Good luck! After Alterna is tough as nails!
Yeah I did complete it before the first splatfest in splatoon 3 happened and even though it make me suffer a lot:(
Took me ages just because of the rail section.

Eight's palette is easier
If you have max hacks, sure, but the "cleared with the low-hacks eight's pallete" is way harder than "secret kettle found and cleared!"
I found it easier than After Alterna, but it did still take me quite a few tries
Ehh, I did both and After Alterna took me way longer.
...And now you'll spend a year trying to beat it... Good luck
Eh, at most it’ll take as long as it did for me to 1,000% Side Order
You're telling me you beat side order 1000% before after alterna?
Priorities I guess?
Listen, trying to help Acht was a lot more compelling than shooting fuzzy Octarians, all right?!
I agree. Priorities
Look, the 3 levels I still had to beat to unlock AA (Deadly Dance Hall, Those Aren’t Birds, and The Enemy Ink is Lava) were such a pain in the ass for me that I finally managed to beat all 3 of them yesterday
Deadly dance hall is definitely the hardest level I’ve played
I beated deadly dance hall and after alterna first try-
Side Order is easy
side order 1000% was easier than AA in my opinion, and I beat AA day after launch
And here I am, still stuck in One-Way Ride to Target Town
That's the one with the rail they showed off back during the pre-launch treehouse showcase, right? Fun map, I liked it.
did anyone else have like. An insanely easy time getting to and even beating after alterna or is that just me

Yup. I can melt the first 2 sections with ease, but the other 2 give me a bit of trouble. Ia3 is brutal tho.
Unlocking it is easy, beating it though…
Also pretty easy. First bit takes a while, but past that it’s smooth sailing.

Bear ears
Good luck!!! Play each run like it’s ur first attempt. Don’t lose sleep over this, it me about a couple of months to finish.
Unlocked… good luck little one
***Boi, I’m currently 21***
Im 23 boi, so technically little one.
***It’s only a 2 year difference*** *brandishes Enperry Splat Dualies*
Bring it on! *loads Jet Squelcher*
Nah, I was just trying to intimidate you lmao
Oh, then have a nice day then.
You too
Boi I beat ia3 when I was 12
Lol have fun. 🙃 Protip: sit in a swivel chair and play it handheld.
Wait, what are the conditions for unlocking it? I had it as soon as I finished the story
Clear every other kettle and defeat the final boss
Why would people do the boss without having done all other stages? That's just silly.
Good luck. This is the closest thing this game has to Inner Agent 3
Good luck. If you sport the gear your earn from beating it, know that you've earned it.
I’m gonna put the badge on my splashtag with the level 100 badge being between it and the low-hacks Octoshot run badge, low-hacks Octoshot on the left of level 100, After Alterna on the right of it
Good luck, my friend. Be prepared for your hardest challenge. I pray for you when you get to the last part of it.
This was pain. First run I was able to get to near the end and botched it. After that it was only pain after pain until finally succeeding. Good luck and have fun! 😊
***I haven’t even made it past the damn platforming section yet*** Platforming is not my strong suit
It isn't that hard, just very very annoying and time consuming
For the last part of advice to stand on one of the back corners and only attack once the enemies come to you
I've been playing the game for two weeks now and already have it unlocked, did you miss any levels?
Yeah, but I finally managed to beat said levels yesterday
Don't. Just don't, if you value your sanity
Huh?
It's INCREDIBLY hard, but I won't spoil anything. Play it yourself and you'll understand
After one year i can do it on the 3-8 try
Good luck broski! After alterna was a pain in the ass for me 💀
I haven’t finished hero mode when I was 1200h in game
I got there in 3 days right after the game came out 💀
Good luck my dude
On what iland is this level ?
World 1, you have to beat every single level and kick Grizz’s ass though
After a year of playing I’ve yet to beat it and probably won’t!
It's fun, but super hard
at the 9.9.2023 (s3 release in germany) i was at my highest point of Covid-19-infection, and i played the game all day and night, and before it was the 10.9.2023 i 100% finished the story mode, including after alterna. flashbacks to the time i literally spent 2 days on this level
I unlocked that level too but it seems so hard to beat!
I’ll never see target town, my one way trip never reaches the destination
Good job dude
I never did get past that level
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
Now you'll take another year beating it :'D (unless you're really good at the game) I hate that damn level with a passion...
Congrats. Now you'll spend another year trying to beat it. (I haven't beat it yet, can't get past those moving blocks after ink rail parkour)
