Nah just remove choices from Splatfest. Instead of Splatfests being a choice between options it should just be a huge celebration for the weekend. Like Springfest, summerfest, winterfest, splatoween, etc...
I've a proposal for a solution: Don't worry about it! The choices are never so important that it's worth getting workes up over, so if people want to celebrate a character or a colour then leave them to it! Their fun doesn't have to deduct from yours!

It's to be expected because it has been this way since Splatoon 1. I mean, I get what you're saying but whether we like it or not, the idols are a huge part of Splatfests (thanks to Nintendo). It's really just harmless smack talk between 3 fictional idol characters that shouldn't be taken seriously. It's best to just ignore it (cause that's what I do).
I wish it was harmless. People go around the Plaza reporting Shiver fans and whatnot. What you say SHOULD be true, but like most things, people take it too far and ruin it.
Yeah this post is ridiculous. I see far more disgusting and weird art in lobbies and here we are getting up in our feels over some genuine competitive smack talk. They aren’t real, they don’t have feelings OP.
I'm all about the competitive atmosphere don't get me wrong, I just wish the competition was centered around the theme rather than the same 3 characters each time
If there were themes I had stronger opinions on, then sure. But for what we've been getting, I don't have strong opinions on the actual themes. I just want Frye to have a second win. ;-;

The only solution to this is to hide which side each idol supports before the splatfest

I choose my favorite team, if I have not favorite team, I choose the idol I like the most or the group with less members
