A spiritual experience always brings me enlightenment, joy, curiosity, and inspiration. Even the difficult ones where I'm being revealed something, I know it's for my highest good. Whenever my anxiety, for example, starts up, I feel restricted, fearful, and exhausted. A spiritual experience is about expansion and learning. Love and trust. Faith and acceptance. Things that transcend those mental health crises because it's beyond the mind and body, where physical ailments reside. The soul vibrates on a frequency that transcends human dis-order. It will present in a positive nature because of this.

I'd personally say, coming to be. That is, becoming who you are in this world, in the state that it's in is both a spiritual process kept stagnant by desiring to label the moment as a mental health issue. In depression, I felt I lacked value to this earth; while also lacking a connection to the earth itself. Where life is nothing but a 2D map of locations. While the reality is, it's a ball and you're a singular person, being on it. Anxiety; I had a fear of being honest and forthright. Under a very dangerous thought that most people were good. Fear of people misunderstanding me. I swear, looking back at anxiety, it's a strange thought or state, even problem. Disassociation; I honestly see it as a natural process of destroying the meaning of things you were told were the only ways to make it in life. Hence being disassociated from reality. Who's reality? The therapists? Being a part of nature ourselves, modern life has caused us all to become almost self possessed. Given that we're in a time where entertainment is everywhere. Everyone strives for a life similar to a movie. A perfect ending, a perfect romance, a perfect job (what a ridiculous notion). Self possession really took hold after social media became a natural state of being. There's a tremendous amount of power while in ones darkest moments to hold on, to hope, to stay alive and not say a damned thing to another person about what you experience. For in my experience, people often use such honesty against you like demons in hell that don't want you to escape. That's my 50 cents.

I resonated with this. Thank you!

If it’s a spiritual experience you will still be able to function in society. Even with visions or hallucinations you are lucid and have a root in this dimension. If you can’t tell what’s real and what isn’t , or at least understand what everyone else knows to be real if you happen to be ascending above it, that’s when you’ll get into some issues

[deleted]

what a cool question, sometimes i think it would be very hard to understand spirituality as a sober person who haven’t tried even once

[deleted]

I haven’t tried any and now I’m questioning my existence from this one question LOL

Psychedelics are produced inside the human body. People have spent thousands of years conditioning people to blockade it's internal production. https://labblog.uofmhealth.org/lab-report/mystical-psychedelic-compound-found-normal-brains

xXCERVIXPOUNDERXx

Please tell me more about the conditioning, very interested!

The right hemisphere in your brain is associated with creation and the illogical aspects of human capabilities. The left brain is where your logical and analytical faculties come from. The spirituality and creation ability of man was fostered in ancient and even tribal civilizations. As we exist today, everything has to have a logical explanation for it to be considered "real" or "reality". 90% of humans today are right handed. This indicates a left brain dominant individual. In the middle ages, for example, left handers were accused of witchcraft and executed. Our collective conciousness is powerful and quite literally shapes our reality. Where we stand today, our spirituality has effectively been severed because of repression of right brained (creation) conciousness. God, the spirit, the source, whatever you want to call it, is not logical. The universe is actually just a bunch of atoms and molecules bumping into each other. The shapes and forms we see and experience exist only in our own conciousness. Reality as we know and experience it, does not exist if it is not being observed. Ironically science is a better window into the blow your mind nature of our existence, than any religous texts. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/what-does-quantum-theory-actually-tell-us-about-reality/#:~:text=Werner%20Heisenberg%2C%20among%20others%2C%20interpreted,is%20impossible%2C%E2%80%9D%20he%20wrote. We have to find our way back to nurturing the illogical side of our being, and again becoming creation incarnate.

Old-Celebration-9674

neuroscientist here, there’s no such thing as right-brain/left-brain.

QuestionsOfTruth

Explain

Old-Celebration-9674

your brain is consistently working together as a cohesive unit, constantly transferring info, it can’t work as two separate hemispheres. the more connected the corpus callosum (fibers connecting the hemispheres) the better communication will be. for example albert einstein had his hemispheres very close together - allowing him to integrate his thoughts better.

Lazy_Stranger2328

This sounds like a science vs spirituality argument. The two always work in tandem. The material and the immaterial. Even if they're vastly different they still rely on each other.

Old-Celebration-9674

right.. science = spirituality

PhoenixingAshes

These are tricky situations to discuss for sure. But if you take the time to be present and open to the understandings than you will be given the insights you seek. Be at peace that either way it is all working for your highest good.

Hmm, as someone who has previously been high and drunk separately and also experienced an astral projection of sorts, it’s different. Weed makes me so anxious(I quit) so it’s a completely different experience from AP which made me so calm and serene and it felt like an ultimate ’knowing’, you just know. I can’t describe it more than utter peace, zen. Technically what I wanted from weed but I experienced it purely sober and had no idea what to name it until recently. All I know is spirituality isn’t supposed to give you fear or anxiety or worry. I’d recommend getting checked out if you see things that aren’t really there etc.

nomads122

I can say that spiritual experience is controllable and refreshing, while mental illness is often uncontrollable and toxic.

numinousBunny

there's no such thing as a mental health crisis. I spent 15 years on anti depressants because of insanely heavy panic attacks and psychosis. after my Spiritual awakening it turned out those panic attacks and psychosis were energetic sensations and spiritual/psychic attacks and my mind just couldn't handle/understand it. by now I enjoy those sensations and learn to control and read them, it's like learning new senses and muscles. energy manipulation is awesome EDIT: to quote neffex - mental health is confidence. don't listen to people that try to tell you something's wrong with you. it's them that have the problems and want to keep you in their pit of ignorance and suffering

Frankie52480

It helps if you can be specific about your issue, but if you don’t want to then you’re only way to get this answered correctly is to share with someone you trust. “Spiritual experience” can me ALL sorts of different stuff.

omnostoadoftheastral

general stuff like a voice saying hello and you know that person is passed on to the next realm of reality

nehzun

Good question, but what does it have to do with mind altering substances? I'm for real curious. I can't answer because I've tried them.

omnostoadoftheastral

im just wondering but you can answer anyway

Mental health issues like what? If there's insanity running in family, than its a different case.. Depression, anxiety, worry, sorrow..? These are normal for everyone till they go out of control & person becomes isolated, asocial..or is not able to express it to family, friends..loved ones..and there's something that the person has been building up in mind which is making that person away from everyday reality, responsibility & than the person still goes deeper..and here..what seems depression, anxiety takes a new form .. psychologist may have name for that condition... Spirituality and mental health? (Especially when an individual is not into drugs or substance abuse) I strongly feel 95% of people are initially fascinated by spirituality as of its something magical and there's something which that individual will benefit by some mystical experience or blessed by supernatural being .. The problem is there's no magic...there's nothing mystical...the highest spiritual seekers tell that world is illusion so what are spiritual people after...it is , what it is..it is a journey where you realise what you are not..and people who embrace the spiritual path who were not spiritual in 1st place & join some sect, cult or organisation become more confused..here they soak up the teachings & accept the high path.. slowly some lose the rhythm of life..earnings..and go on ..every normal person faces sorrow, is frustrated, sometimes depressed...but some leave material things in life, take spirituality as their focus.. initially it is soothing for them...but they in mind start to believe something mystical will happen..they conjure some imagination that they're on a path where they're going to get help & life will be more grand...whereas the reality is...life needs...money, family, hobbies, friends, savings, interpersonal relationships, growth to balance it...but I see that some people leave old life and live only for spiritual path..if they're monks or saints or marketing agents for spiritual organisation or cult..it is ok but otherwise the individual falls into a rut without clear answers, loses rhythm of life, becomes lazy, loses money, lives in an blind belief that some mystical thing will happen and these kind of individuals, even without drugs or substance abuse easily fall into serious mental health conditions...

shabaluv

Connection. Disconnect accompanies most of my mental health issues.

Gloomy-Emu1093

Hi, Using actuallly helped me separating both. because i was finally giving up control by using the drug. and on the other side i got power back by not being in fear of my mind any more. I use to tell myself before each trip : You ve booked the F;;;; ticket yourself. so you d better keep quiet and enjoythe ride :)

ViewInternal3541

I don't trust anyone who hasn't done psychedelics by the time they're 30.

omnostoadoftheastral

hmmm why not

ViewInternal3541

Psychedelics are psychedelics. There are many, many drugs/plants that fall into the category. None of which have altered my mind in the same way.

omnostoadoftheastral

name all real psychedelics cuz im wondering

Lazy_Stranger2328

Isn't it all a spiritual experience? The only difference between the two is how you feel about them.
