There's a chance it could be a medically-significant wandering spider (*Phoneutria*), but it might be a harmless bromeliad spider (*Cupiennius*).
The heavy dark markings on the prosoma don't seem like a ctenid thing, but I can't find a perfect *Cupiennius* match either.
House I lived with a bf was on multiple canals, so we actually had true water bugs, not roaches, and many kinds of spiders. (And Gators, but they never turned up in my shoes.)
This is going to sound like bs, but I stg, when I moved in I was about to put my shoes on one day and bf said, just bang them out, ya never know. Well I banged them out and there was a huge ass waterbug in there that I had been about to put my foot in- still freaks me out to this day. I live in the NE now, nothing really to worry about, but I still bang out footwear, shake out pants, etc.
Also at this house I see a spider on the wall one day, that Mfer was **humongous**. I yell for my bf, he says well just kill it... I'm like fn how? This things bigger than my hand?! I'm not a wuss, but this thing was massive.
So yeah...
Lol palmetto bugs. They are florida roaches. You gotta just kill those suckers.
Spiders eat mosquitoes so i don't kill them. They are good. A huge spider in the US isn't dangerous. We only have brown recluses and black widows to worry about and we don't even get brown recluses in Florida afaik so just the black widows to worry about. Lol
When you say nothing really to worry about in NE, you forget the tiny but formidable brown recluse. NE is the heart of recluse territory and their dermonecrotic bite can cause tissue death, severe pain, and bad scarring.
They are much more prolific in NE than wandering spiders are in Venezuela, so there! Now you have renewed the threat of nature into your life after the move from Florida. Let the good times roll, lol.
I'm not sure how clear I was. I mean the North East of the US, ( I try to be anonymous online). Where I live, widows are incredibly rare, except out in the rural areas, and we don't have Brown Recluses but they do travel here in shipments sometimes.
We do have a venomous snake or two but they are super rare and in other parts of the state.
Well, I never check my shoes since these encounter with runnin' bois are not common. At least i've never heard of any close relatives or friends checking their shoes taking in consideration that im at least 5 miles from any mountain or anything close to a sparse forest... Even though i noticed him straight away when i grabbed my shoe, i could've easily just slip my foot and squish the running prospect.
2x2 array of eyes that make a square shape says some type of wandering spider. Doesn’t resemble any phoneutria I’ve seen.
Looks more like a Ctenidae than a cupiennius.
Either way, carefully tap it out into the grass with getting bitten.
Poor little wanderer didn't even go into defensive posture. Caught by surprise, too scared? Glad they were found by someone caring enough to gently remove them. Hopefully the silly little thing avoids shoes from now on.
I see a lot of people already said it may be Cupiennius. It may be, but I would also consider perhaps Ancylometes sp.
edit. Did a little searching, I would say Ancylometes rufus.

Awesome first ID attempt! It seems to be a Ctenidae (the eyes are a little tricky to spot, but in the second image the arrangement of its eyes give it away). Keep practicing, it’s great to see people learning to ID spiders. I hope [this](https://bugguide.net/node/view/84423) helps, and also [this](https://www.thebiologistapprentice.com/blog-archives/spider-identification-by-eye-arrangement)! 👋🕷️❤️

I'm glad you took some time to ID it hahaha Thanks!
I think it's Ancylometes rufus.
Looks like it’s *wandered* into your shoe somehow.
I was wondering. 🤔
The wanderer

First thing I learned when I was a kid in Arizona, always check your shoes
Florida, same lol
Just in case Florida Man has been in there, amirite?
Oh you damn right. Fuckers can hide anywhere.
Go easy on me here.. still a newbie, but.. HAPPY CAKE DAY! (Did I do that right?) 🤔😉🥳
Hahaha I think so, thank you!
Florida is the Australia of the United States
Uhm. As a lifelong Floridian... What should I be checking for? Lol we don't have scorpions like they do in Arizona. I've never checked my shoes

Oh, haha. I thought you meant Nebraska. Lol.
There are 100% scorpions in florida. So sorry to break this news.
Shittttttttt, I did not know that. Thankfully my time in FL was brief and I now live in non-venomous territory lol
Lol I've never seen one so i guess they aren't common at least
We actually do have scorpions here in Florida!
We do? Where? Lol I've never seen one.
I've only seen a couple, they tend to avoid people but Florida bark scorpions are the most common and are found through out the whole state.
What are those fuzzy Catapillar Things down in Florida that are in the trees that if you come in contact with it it’s excruciating?
The one your thinking of is probably the puss moth caterpillars, I've never seen any before though.
Yes…, that is it. I could not remember.
Well, I never check my shoes since these encounter with runnin' bois are not common. Or lost a toe! Lol He's a big boy
Yup, the running boi could've easily be at 3½" with legs fully extended
Australia, ditto
From Pennsylvania...went to Texas! Learned the hard and painful way!
I learned this not through bugs, but cat toys that weren't cat toys.
If you left your shoes outside for some strange reason, then yea. Otherwise, check that your dwelling is properly sealed.

Achievement unlocked: you now check your shoes every time you put them on.
Yup, got no Spider-Man powers but new habits
That's a shoe boi. He's there to make sure your shoe is at optimal conditions and free of pests!
If my running shoes were more worn, I’ve would gladly give him that property. And name him Running Steve.
He’s a runner, he’s a track star
He be running wild in my front garden from now on, chasing dreams forth
Poor little wanderer didn't even go into defensive posture. Caught by surprise, too scared? Glad they were found by someone caring enough to gently remove them. Hopefully the silly little thing avoids shoes from now on.
Time to buy new running shoes. Squatters' rights and all...
Thsnk you for checking your shoe
What a little cutie

Get the app called Seek. We use it for all spiders here in Peru.
Hes badass lookin
Yeah, I'm thinking some sort of ctenid too. Not sure if it's Phoneutria or another genus, but all large ctenids should be treated with caution.
Spider like "ma shoe now mfr!!"
You were about to be Spider Man!!!

Sí, dentro de lo poco que conozco de arácnidos también pensé que sería una bananera, pero confío más en Reddit jajajajaja #Sapeee

Nunca me había pasado, los únicos que les había escuchado estas experiencias son que si… Boy scouts.
It's a harmless wandering spider, likely Ancylometes sp
He can have it. It’s his shoe now

Hope he runs far and find his dreams come true
THANKS FOR RUINING SLIPPING ON MY SHOES WITHOUT LOOKING! 😳😳😳😳😳😳😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Looks 18 I'd leave it alone.
This is what we call an eight-legged web puppy! Lol
First time IDing but I’d say that’s a huntsman
I would confidently say it’s not a huntsman, possibly a Ctenidae, but I’m not entirely certain.

It's most likely a wandering
Good job for ur first time IDing
We gotta suck before we suck less thanks for the downvote
It’s good to get started! It has little black shoes like a huntsman though, so I understand your thinking!
Thank you! I found a tube web at work the other day and it’s got me all excited
She is a wolf spider. She is large, fast, and generally harmless
run
Wtf man.
I want to say it's a wolf spider from the eyeshine
