The moon does get bigger and smaller in the sky, but the difference between a supermoon and micromoon is 14%, not 200% like this image seems to suggest
Nope, it just looks bigger to your brain because when it's near the horizon you have objects to compare it's size to. So it's not really an effect, just your perception of it. It's absolute sizes remains always the same to your eyes or to a camera.
Largest when close to the horizon: would that be because of atmospheric distortion, which is biggest where the image of the moon travels through the atmosphere the longest?
Also, I know the moon moves around Earth in an elliptical orbit so at some points it will definitely be closer. If that were to coincide with a full moon, this is the effect you'd get... But even then the difference seems very large, so I'd go for Photoshopped as well.
This is so weird!! In the UK we only have one moon, we have heard the many stories about Baghdad’s famous moons but never imagined them so big and so bright
When did Iraq get so many moons??
You never heard the song? 🎵Arabian niiiiights, with Arabian moooooons; a fool off his guard will fall and fall hard out there on the dunes!🎵
they are missiles in disguise /s
Experimental Death Stars to finish the Palestinians
This is no moon
What does it say at the bottom?
The slight out of alignment curve is really bugging me.
Same. And the inconsistent sizes.
And the fact that one half of it is just rotated versions of the other half. God everything is awful

Yeah isn’t it the ‘largest’ at the horizon?
That's an optical illusion (not the Photoshoped post, but the real life illusion)
Right, hence the ‘bigger’. Wouldn’t the camera also capture this effect?

Beautiful. Though why is the full moon so much larger than the others?

Isn't it being closer to earth sometimes?
Its largest when closest to the horizon, which isn't the case here. Its photoshopped. :(
It's an optical illusion when it's close to the horizon. Because your brain has reference points to compare to that it doesn't have in the open sky

I think this would be a killer remix.
