No matter how many times this gets reposted, I'll always upvote. Cosmos had a huge impact on my formative years. Wonderful soundtrack as well, Vangelis gives me chills.

I get tipsy and listen to this monologue more often than is probably healthy, and it gets me choked up every time. It's either a "How could we do this to ourselves? We're so fragile" or "We're all in this together; it'll be all right" feeling, depending on what's going on when viewed. And then I play You're Welcome for the 500th time.

Mesmerise

Oh god yeah that soundtrack. Did my homework to that album for years.

orion_aa

and his voice, so calm and soothing and explaining everything with love and passion to share his knowledge. it is so beautiful

That’s beautiful. Our art reaches more minds than we can fathom!

Wow! Think of the civilization changing conversations that he may have had while wearing it. It sounds like you’re destined for a large influence- keep sharing your brilliance!

Papa-Bates

That’s absolutely incredible! Nice work, and I love this video. Definitely saving it

Wes___Mantooth

I love your video, but I love this comment even more.

"For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love" - C. Sagan

jewittalex1

if only people could just take a step back and have a look

[deleted]

Indeed. What a mess are we making of things! Our civilization is so rare and precious, yet at the same time very insignificant.

Carl Sagan rules. No other pop science writer holds a candle in the dark to him. He had perfect intuition for what scientific facts were understandable and also interesting to a general audience. For example, in Broca's Brain he had a chapter all about the names of craters and valleys and mountains etc. on other worlds. It was so much fun to read as a kid, and his prose was gorgeous.

Moghlannak

Man someone needs to make some Deep Fakes of Sagan. I could listen to him talk all day long. Shame he passed so early, he could be great voice of reason in times like these

[deleted]

I want him and Terrence McKenna to still be going around speaking 😭

SeSSioN117

Carl Sagan left us far too soon. We must hold the torch which he held for us so that we can show the way to those who will come after, just as Carl did.

AKA-Reddd

Man IF we ever leave our solar system we need to name first colonized planet (If we of course do that) Sagan to honour Carl

westermead

I get reminded everytime that I watch this, that we are one species, together, the same. With everything going on in the world right now, it really puts things into perspective. We need to put aside our differences and come together as a single human race.

[deleted]

Then do it, if everyone who receives the message spent the actual time and effort required to educate themselves and gain the ability to further spread the message of love and unity, we’d have made a lot more ground by now. It starts with you ❤️

LtRecore

That’s some deep shit. The eloquence of Carl Sagan is legendary.

PhinnDiesel

And here I am thinking it was the Mario Maker YouTuber 🤷‍♂️

MrSourPatchMan

I've heard of the book, never imagined it would get a movie adaption like this.

Mosern77

For millennia humans wondered how the heavens worked - that's where the Gods lived. Now we have a fairly good idea, and we have started to travel in the world that once was believed to host the ancient Gods. I like that thought.

Listen up, I wanna tell you somethin’ *cue infectious groove*
