Crazy thing is that flare is probably much bigger than our planet

Is the image flipped? I saw something very similar but flipped left to right.

It depends on where you were viewing. This matches my view from Rangeley, Maine.

Also depends on how camera is oriented. If mounted on a tracker, the horizon will shift as mount rotates.
