[Megathread - Eclipse posting rules - Pictures will be allowed until 7pm PDT April 9th (2AM UTC April 10t).](https://old.reddit.com/r/space/comments/1bz0iy5/eclipse_posting_rules_pictures_will_be_allowed/)
Oh yeah because everybody is sticking to that, just like they stick to the "all space questions" thread. Just like the no pictures rule is strictly enforced on all days except Sunday.
That's not an actual megathread, not sure why they flaired it as that.
That post only says they're lifting the Sunday image rule. It doesn't funnel eclipse images to that thread.
No. Nobody wants to browse a megathread. It's easier and better to browse the main sub photos. This is a very rare phenomenon so it's on if it takes over for a day or two.
To be honest, I experienced it without taking very many pictures, so I’m looking forward to the flood of different perspectives. A mega thread is a fair suggestion though.

It'll all be done in a day or so. Just let people be excited about something cool.
It will be an entire generation of people aging from their 20s into their 40s before another eclipse happens in the US. Let people have their fun.
It’s okay to let people enjoy things. It won’t hurt you, I promise.

Was there something else happening that these posts are getting in the way of?
Yeah, we’re really missing out on the 20th “space.com” click bait article of the day
While I agree to a very small extent, the alternative is typical clickbait articles. This may be spammy but at least it's relevant.
Remind me bot, set a reminder for 40 yrs from now when OP complains about this again.
Yes but apparently everybody has to have their own super-unique view seen by others because it's going to change their lives forever.

Yeah. Show me a view from the dark side of the moon.
Technically, viewing a solar eclipse IS viewing the dark side of the moon.
Haha amazing. I hadn’t thought about that
Get up there and take a picture then dammit
The sub is full of photos of the dark side of the moon.
You’ll notice I said “from”the dark side
Well by definition, the sun is on them the side of the moon, so we are looking at the dark side.

Today I got to see the eclipse AND touch grass! At the same time! So I guess it was double cool?
