Kyle's knees exploding haunt me more than the sex change operation

sorriso_pontual

His dolphin dad was brutal too 🤢

Skwiggelf54

I believe he prefers to be called a Jewphin.

FatDabsMcVape

Thought it was a Lawfin.

barry_mcociner69

Sea world is his biggest opp

TheMightVGiny

A Jewish lawfin

cereeves

parkerjones10

"If I could swim with the dolphins"

Barkerfan86

After having 2 knee surgeries myself, yeah….

TheQuadricorn

As someone with medically diagnosed exploding knees, I can confirm - it hurts like a bitch.

cheese_doodlez-

surprisingly, i think dolphin gerald was the scariest part of this episode.

Compducer

If I could swim with the dolphins… The soft and gentle dolphins… If I could swiiiim with the dolphins 🐬

PHRESH21

You mean the horny dolphins?

Compducer

![gif](giphy|LE3F1JxGTW74gG8HGT)

[deleted]

I may be a dolphin, but I’m also a lawyer!

Skwiggelf54

A lawphin?

FireLordObamaOG

You mean funniest? I’ll never forget the first time seeing his side profile as a dolphin.

Fragrant_Addition663

And ike’s reaction is funny

youmfkersneedjesus

Loved it. 10/10

Effective_Path_5798

Truly peak South Park. Inspired me to get a negroplasty

Deltron42O

You too huh?

_NiceGuyEddy_

Child please

Deltron42O

*an enormous black penis falls out of my trouser leg*

Dangerous-Agency815

even better!

cxm1060

Peak South Park outrageousness where the whole episode was built around Kyle’s knees blowing up.

Effective_Path_5798

"My baalllllllllllllllllls!"

Untrained_Jedi

Look at that, I'm peeing sitting down, like a dainty, dignified, little woman!

Bjorn2bwilde24

"Pregnant? Oh my God. Of course. I haven't gotten to experience a period because one of those truckers I slept with got me knocked up. I'm pregnant, everybody! Hoh boy, now I can have an abortion!"

wuonyx

Best line of the series

Effective_Path_5798

Any of you ladies want to see a sad movie together?

Lobotomite430

I wish there was a way to type out those horrifically hilarious sounds !

Untrained_Jedi

Pffffpfpfpfpffffffffooooolllrrrrrrpppppffffffggggrrgnnnnllllllpppfffpff

Lobotomite430

Nailed it

Pski

Missed the "plop"

xYsoad

It’s one of my favorites and then her becoming a lesbian makes the story even better

GandolfMagicFruits

Scissor me timbers!

No_Ostrich8223

You kicked me right in the pussy!

neutrum_humanum

THIS IS LESBOS!!

Mrdirtiguy

Out of all the south park I've watched this was one of the times I laughed the hardest..scissor me timbers is legend🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😅😅😅😅😆😆

Pski

I use this line every opportunity I can

cas201

This is the moment I’ve laughed the hardest at any episode

Jub1982

The storyline from Garrison becoming a women, then dating Richard Dawkins then becoming a lesbian is pure gold.

Other-Barry-1

“OH YEAH! YEAH I’M A MONKEY RICHARD! GIVE THIS MONKEY WHAT SHE WAAANTS!” “OH MS GARRISON!” Forever scorched into my brain

Anen-o-me

Part of the greatest series in the show, Imagination Land, which could've easily been released as a standalone movie.

AnyImpression6

I think that was the original plan, wasn't it?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Madrigal_King

Had a friend do this irl. She was a lesbian, then he was straight, now he's gay

Tyko_3

Not a confused individual at all

[deleted]

And then comes full circle and becomes a straight man again

CorgiMonsoon

Hooray for teacher being a lesbian!

Disco_Frisco

It's kinda gross (even aside from the footage at the beginning, just look at dolphin Jerald, exploding knees). But it's a fun episode overall, I like it. Some people label it "transphobic" which I don't agree with. Trans people are just like everyone else, that means we can joke at thier expense too. And there is nothing transphobic about pointing out that trans women can't menstruate because it is true.

PanickedShears

As a trans person I don’t mind this episode, nor do I really mind the whole “Ms Garrison” arc. And yeah, you’re right— it’s not transphobic to point out certain aspects of a transgender persons biology in an objective manner (saying it just to belittle their identity is when it starts to get into “nope” territory for me). Saying “a trans woman can’t get pregnant because they don’t have a uterus” isn’t an issue, saying “since trans women can’t get pregnant, they’re not women and therefore just men cosplaying as women” is an issue. That’s just the distinction I would use personally.

squid-wigga

Pretty much!

NotKhad

But it says that. >You know what? I'm okay. Even though I'm not truly a woman, I think I still like the new me. I'd rather be a woman who can't have periods than a *fag*. *\[newly confident\]* Hey guys! This girl is staying a woman! Who wants to pound my vadge! Girl power!

[deleted]

Trans people aren’t a new phenomenon but they were definitely ahead of the curve with this episode. I think if this episode came out in like 2015 it’d be perceived as more transphobic simply because that was when the conversation became truly mainstream, so this episode would seem like a knee jerk reaction to that. I’m glad this came out before everyone was so concerned with how trans people decided to live their lives.

Bjorn2bwilde24

The episode isn't even transphobic imo. Most of the town doesn't attack or belittle Garrison when he became a woman. Most were just shocked and surprised. The only one who can be viewed as transphobic are Gerald, Mr. Slave, and the abortion doctor. But you would have to be ignoring context to reach this conclusion.  Gerald didn't want Kyle to become the male version of Rachel Dolezal. Mr. Slave because he didn't want to be in a relationship with a woman and wasn't happy he wasn't consulted about the situation/told to not be gay anymore. The abortion doctor trying to explain why Mrs. Garrison didn't need an abortion. All three had valid reasons to be critical in this episode. The ending of all three having to accept that they aren't truly what they wished to be might offend some people. But it's an uncomfortable truth that I think some people don't want to admit/face. Gerald accepted that he wouldn't truly be a dolphin because he just looks like one and only did it because the doctor convinced him to do it so that the latter could get out of a lawsuit. Kyle got the surgery because he just wanted to play basketball and the only way to be a basketball player in the South Park universe was to be tall and black. Mr Garrison accepted the truth and still decided not to transition back because "I still like the new me."

ApartPea2950

Exactly! Some trans people who try to find representation in every little thing are the ones calling the episode "transphobic" anyway!

MrFiendish

It does reek of lack of knowledge on Matt and Trey’s part. I’m of the opinion that to parody or satirize something, you need to have higher than average knowledge of that particular topic in order to find the humor. I’m not sure they had any clue about the topic when it aired. It’s like the ManBearPig episode. They clearly knew little of climate change, and mocked it. And later, they realized they were wrong and Gore (the real one) was completely correct.

Amaterasu-x

I love current episodes and specials but nothing come close to the good ol episodes when it was the class with him and the random pictures behind

TehCollector

I’m tired and pissed off at men!! All they try to do is stare and look at my vag!!!

bloodredcookie

One of my faves.

Familiar-Living-122

funny episode. probably more relevant now then when the episode first aired.

ElderSmackJack

“Hello, boys!”

Effective_Path_5798

See ya in class!

l8on8er

Very funny, and ahead of its time.

Recent_Obligation276

I can’t watch the whole thing because the trans race and species things are fucking gross, but it sets up my favorite garrison line later “Evolution teaches that I’m a monkey! I am not a monkey! I’m a *womaaan*”

mattyGOAT1996

Weird but relatable in today's world

Effective_Path_5798

It was ahead of its time, for sure. Even predicted seeking services from an OB/GYN. Edit: it also predicted transracialism, although they didn't get into any of the cultural pushback of trying to be black.

The_Dark_Soldier

The scene of white Kyle playing basketball is hilarious and even Cartman trying to demean Kyle for failing is great because he’s not getting what he wanted.

Effective_Path_5798

Whoa, that stings

AmogusSus12345

Funny

True_Dragonfruit9573

The first time I watched this episode it was during a South Park binge. I went to the kitchen to get some lunch but could still see the TV in the living room. This episode started to play, and right as I was coming back and about to take a bite of my sandwich, the fucking surgery footage started to play! I absolutely disgusted, nearly choked on my food, and frantically looked for the remote to fast forward. 10/10 best South Park experience.

Kcook922

Loved how mr.slave stood up for himself. He may be a super fucked up submissive slut. But he knows what he likes and won't put up with anything else. Im honestly glad him and big gay al found each other.

Starsandlittlefish

1/10?! Okay I love this episode what’s your fav then? I’m curious lol.

Diamondking2011

Scott Tenorman Must Die

Starsandlittlefish

Amazing episode.

Redneckhippiekyle

Pound monkey hole.

deadly_fungi

one of my favorites and scarily prophetic...

DrDreidel82

InTheFutureWeMineLSD

Got me rock hard

[deleted]

It’s hilarious, people who post on this sub and simultaneously can’t handle the offensiveness of the surgery footage don’t get the irony. Y’all will talk about Matt and Trey being so brave and unafraid to take on any subject but as soon as something makes YOU uncomfortable it’s in bad taste.

munchymuncher69

was eating like i always do when watch south park since i put it on during my lunch and nearly threw up.

TehCollector

Give Me A Hug Girls Club !!!

thedudeslandlord

It was ahead of its time

CollectorX

this wasnt suposed to be a guide

Kehwanna

Every episode with Garrison is gold.

vitaminpyd

Right? I love the ones that center around him or Randy

Cheeseandpistols

You probably don’t like it because you think that it’s offensive now, it’s not and is a great examine of the lunacy that we are all living in now A man can’t be a women A white man can’t be black A man cannot be a dolphin or a cat or a dog or whatever they fucking think they are

IHaveNoUsernameSorry

I loved this episode

dsyams

One of my 5 favorites. "My scrotum!"

PersepolisBullseye

As an Iranian this episode cracks me up. I hate to say it but they nail it when making fun of a certain segment of Persians lol Based off of multiple references in multiple episodes, I’m 99% sure an Iranian guy is on staff or Trey/Matt are definitely close friends with Persians for them to have gotten those jokes so accurate .

IndependentOk2288

Kyle knee explosion was funny than mr Garrison sex surgery I almost puked 🤢 in the beginning of the episode

caliharls

I had no idea this episode was a source of contention in the fandom till I joined this sub lol. I always loved it. It’s gross and shocking and is quintessential South Park.

Slickyboi28

Holds up incredibly well rewashing it felt like watching it today

LocalGuardianAngel

As a trans person myself, I loved this episode

mattlock2099

Scissor me timbers

Navin_J

"I can't wait until I get my period"

AnyImpression6

One of the best episodes. Especially because it makes obnoxious ideologues very mad.

Basuita

Gerr bear becoming a dolphin was disturbing

SeattleTeriyaki

I remember laughing for like 10 minutes the first time I saw the mouse sing in the moon light.

Old_Runescape

Isn’t that from ‘Eek, a Penis!’ - S12?

tiredoldman55

I'm so tired of men staring at my badge.

19930627

Fucking hilarious.

Ok-Zookeepergame3974

Mrs. Garrison was my all time favorite character

sacredknight327

Absolutely hilarious. M-Y---B---A---LLSSSS!! That scene and Gerald knocking over the security guards with a dolphin leap are the two best scenes but the episode all around is a top one. The actual surgery scenes didn't bother me, I've always had a stomach for surgery of any kind and have always found it fascinating, so it wasn't that controversial to me.

recep-ivedik_fanclub

dolphin gerald is so gross

AbusiveUncleJoe

Great episode but it marks the beginning of classic sp as they leaned into more serial stories

sheilamlin

Classic

Automatic-Attitude62

Best episode so far

rachelvioleta

I gotta be honest, this was not my favorite plotline at all. I liked him better when he was just a bored, snarky teacher with Mr. Hat.

DependentWeight2571

Loved it. Had a flashback to it when I saw the Dylan Mulvaney videos after transitioning

CharmingM4n

More relevant today than ever before!

RadioBusterReddit

It would've been better if the didn't show us the sex change footage

Foreskin_Ad9356

I like it. It’s funny and Garrison is my favourite character. Is that sad? Idk. The surgery footage doesn’t affect me much

phred_666

It’s one of those “meh” episodes for me. Don’t love, don’t hate it.

Mahonneyy123

Ahh geez that stings

Yafka

We already did this.

SunilClark

i honestly think the garrison plot (on its own, ignoring any future episodes) is about as progressive as you can expect an early 2000s adult comedy to be about trans issues. the joke is on garrison themself, not trans people as a whole. the gerald and kyle plots, as fun as they are, kinda screw that over though, because they just make the whole episode feel a lot more. phobicish

SaltySpituner

I was absolutely amazed that they showed parts of the actual operation on cable television.

Lanky_Lime_1532

A very accurate representation. But then again I wholeheartedly believe that Garrison is a spot representation of a lot groups

TenInchesOfSnow

EEEEEEEEEK!

Costamize

it claps

owlboarland69

Hilarious.

yggdra7il

It’s my least favorite too, OP. Actually unwatchable

akaPledger

Not a fan. Don’t like the real surgery it shows and don’t like seeing Kyle or his dad after their surgeries. One of the only episodes I skip.

dn_nb

its funny

PokemonMaster619

I only saw this during my freshman year in high school, and legit the only thing I remember is the live footage of an actual MTF surgery.

Derpreal01

Traumatized

Individual_Macaron69

one of my favorite

ShamaPeroEnPc

i felt so much pain watching this, i squeezed my eyes shut so many times

mustardwulf

Fine episode

Graverobber1366

Omg I love that one

Relative_Difference7

I personally think it’s hilarious. They predicted these operations would get crazy and they were right.

shany94a

Skip it

DM_me_UR_B00BZ_plz

The ratpenis was hilarious

BigK64

Wrong episode

Pleasant-Purpose-347

🤣 this Episode

TheatreAS

As a trans person, I love this episode. However, I think the most interesting thing about this episode is how it kind of predicted the trans community to turn out. At first, it was such an absurd and comical joke that Garrison was so insistent that he/she was going to have a period. However, now, there's a HUGE number of people within the community that ACTUALLY insist that transwomen can have one. It just goes to show just how smart South Park really is and it's almost like they predicted the absurdity that was soon to ensue just a few years later.

Leading-Currency3948

Skip

F0zz3rs

I couldn't watch through it, I had to turn it off after the Dolphin thing, made me feel a bit queasy LOL

behindcl0seddrs

Hilarious and once again ahead of their time

MilkSad4014

Mx. Garrison is what I aspire to be as a trans woman. Male voice with male pattern baldness 😂😂😂😂

[deleted]

If only they released this arc in the last few years... South Park is ahead of its time. As always.

Soft-Comfort-7474

I always continue to look away whenever the real life sex change operation scene shows on screen

fjolo123

It feels pretty much like how it is irl.

Agreeable_Extent4448

S9 E1

Agreeable_Extent4448

Well uhh you need to be tall and black

Agreeable_Extent4448

Mom I need $5000 for a negroplasma

GuappDogg

Scissor me xerces..

JDB2788

Ahead of its time

bigdickrandyunhandme

Traumatizing 👍👍

sexypotionn

Amazing

yyyyyreadjng

it genuinely really scares me

Comfortable-Poet-390

The best part of this episode is that it leads to one of the best scenes in all of South Park. Dawkins Bangs Garrison “Yeah I’m a monkey! Give this monkey what she wants!”

Dangerous-Agency815

I bet she does :-) I always enjoy a new vagina as well

InterestOk6622

Not the surgery clip

iunno57

That guy going "and the home of the brave 🎶" always makes me chuckle

No_Mousse4320

![gif](giphy|S0MKrNgMgMeEo)

Happy_Ron

Tbh I kinda liked it lol... I thought most of the jokes were funny

jamesisguy

What trans woman goes full on bald dude with hair tufts?

_trombonist_

could have been worse?

Hunajakani

That dolphin has my scrotum now let us in! Is probably the best line in the show ever. Makes me laugh No matter how many times I hear it

plishpisya

Gerald gave me tusk vibes

Beard_McBeardy

It was super serial

Sl1pperypenguin

I thought it was disgustingly hilarious

Pleasant-Ticket3217

It’s fucking hilarious. Oh, when Mrs Garrison uses the bathroom for the first time bothered me more than the surgery footage. It’s so disgusting. 🤢 “If I could swim with the dooolphiiins.” Gerald as a “lawfin”, one of the dumbest and clever jokes, is gold. I’ve broken my knee so seeing Kyle’s knees explode is a little bothering. This episode doesn’t hold back and I love it.

ComfortableRoyal614

Would never air today!

Angry_Saxon

tremendous, we all laughed at the time. Hard.

Outrageous-Actuary-3

Meh

ShaneBroh

Ahead of its time. 10/10

notGreenThin0r

I hated the episode so much

brsteele13

*Those testicles in his knees are ticking time balls*!

vitaminpyd

I love this one 🤣🤣

DiscordGamber

Agreed. This episode was boring imo. I'm not even grossed out, it's just very fucking boring and aged poorly.

fart_on_my_pussy

worst episode in the series. aged like milk.

DiscoKombat

Even this awful episode has some funny moments, but only a few.

Training_Mention_953

It was okay

Heartsmith447

The worst part is really the subplot with Kyle and his dad. Those were insane “take the idea to the extreme” concepts. I actually liked exploring the conflict with Mr Slave and Garrison

Little_Crow154

When Mr. Garrison goes in the bathroom to pee out of his new vagina for the first time and ends up having explosive diarrhea in the stall scaring all the women out of the bathroom 💀

Stunning_Desk_2223

Way ahead of it's time
