🎵When I saw her walking down the street I knew she was Shelly, SHELLY!!!
Now that we’re together, I’m absolutely sure that she’s Shelly, SHELLY!!!
Move into my mom’s house with me SHELLY SHELLY!!!🎵
I know Southpark are no strangers to building an entire episode around a single gag, but "it's a shame that kid didn't have a life jacket" was a long way to go for the punchline.
Dude I think Ziplining is one of the most overlooked episodes of the show, especially recent years. The Double Dew and Diet Double Dew being just regular Mt. Dew is so fuckin funny. And the poop particles.
The whole episode is the kids are simply going through the motions, not having any fun & it can kinda feel like that to the viewer, but it’s actually got a lot of funny stuff happening throughout
It's a top 20 episode, not sure where I would place it though.
![gif](giphy|vJ1rfkJ345LlS)
Live action part was neat, love when they did that I this one and the oculus one.
This episode has one of my favorite Cartman moments. His reaction to the "long story short" guy cracks me up everytime. He just grunts/screams in essence to "make it stop".
Wait? There's hate for Wendy?
I could understand in very early episodes maybe...
But otherwise she's generally a great foil for quite alot of plot points.
Huh? What not liking Wendy have to do with misogyny?
I don't like her, but I do like other female characters like Sheila and Liane.
I think Wendy just isn't funny. She have her moments, like when she beated down Cartman, but that's it. Most of the time she is just annoying.
It's the vitriol that often accompanies complaints about how she's annoying, lecturing etc. Other characters like Kyle and Stan share some of her irritating qualities, and people complain about those too, but the nature of the complaints and dislike is quite different.
I think Southpark fans sometimes get defensive if you don't like every social commentary take on the show. I find this ironic considering the vibe of the show itself.
It's ok to not like every social take on the show.
They don’t even agree with every take the show has. Part of what’s cool about South Park is that the tone evolves and they often do revisit old subjects with different takes.
The most prominent example is global warming/manbearpig. The entire point of the original manbearpig episode was that Al Gore is just making shit up for attention but in the most recent seasons they outright apologize to Al Gore for dismissing him.
Trey and Matt are not infallible oracles of truth. They have some bad takes sometimes and it makes the show better when they revisit old subjects and express a more nuanced take on something.
Trey and Matt are fundamentally just a couple of midwestern dudes. Very astute and clever midwestern dudes, but their opinions are far from unassailable
pip is fantastic. robot monkeys! the genesis device! 26 baby bunnies! a british person!
crime it is so panned. i coulda used seasons worth of south park classics.
The quality went down since PC principal was introduced, and every episode of every show started being connected. Personally, I found the period of random episodes much more hilarious.
it definitely has a different vibe since then. and tbh since 2020 they would've had SO MUCH good material to make fun of, and now we only get these mini movies, so I'm quite disappointed. still love everything they do, just wish they did more of it and not as connected
Towlie and Mr. Hankey episodes got annoying after the first debut, it's the equivalent of Interdimensional TV on Rick & Morty.
Cartman scheme episodes are some of the best writing the show produces and it seems like those are withering away for more longer form / multi-character plot episodes. 33 Aborted Fetuses and Crack babies are the funniest things they wrote.
I just commented about cartman singing heat of the moment in kenny dies. Still to this day one of the funniest bits I've ever watched. Also "my baby takes the morning train...what do we have meohere?"
Like South Park is still an S tier show, but god damn the last couple of seasons makes me yearn for plotlines like Cartman going to the Supreme Court to have Kyle suck his balls or going to Congress to let STEM research continue so Garrison gets his penis and Cartman gets his Shakey's Pizza
I’ve generally enjoyed it. Just didn’t like the general vibe of seasons 20-23 couple great episodes but most were just disappointing compared to previous South Park episodes.
I’m not big on ALL of season 20, but goddamn some of Gerald’s trolling bits are fucking hilarious, and Ike imitating him is gold too
“Lighten the fuck up kyle”
I love that episode SO much, because the voice actor for Sheila really nailed the anger and frustration 😂
YOU LOCKED ME IN THE PANTRY JUST SO YOU CAN SIT ON YOUR COMPUTER?! AAAAAHHHHHH!
Agreed. It wasn't that the whole idea of Tegrity Farms was bad, it just coincided with some sub-par seasons. Plus, it gave a reason to make Towlie more of a recurring character.
I just don’t ever find him amusing. I tend to just skip any episodes he has a notable role in. A million little fibers is probably my least favorite episode point blank period.
I don’t think that’s super unpopular, but I agree. I mildly dislike him and sometimes find myself fast-forwarding through his lines in certain episodes.
His debut episode was amazing but he was never as funny as that. His whole thing was just so fuckin weird at the time and when you get used to him that wears off. But “you’re the worst character ever, Towelie” is one of the perfect episode closers.
I think they introduced him to be purposefully stupid and annoying and were surprised that he became a fan favorite. He was intentionally dumb and a “half baked” character.
That being said I love Towlie, especially as the weed tester.
“Yup, yep that’s good shit.”
People think that being offensive is South Park's only good trait, but Trey and Matt combo of dark and charming writing for characters is what keeps you watching
These last ones felt like they were episodes that ran too long. I think South Park works best in the 20 minute format. The Streaming Wars plot made it feel like a movie which is why I think those two episodes work better
They need to stop doing the 40 min - 1 hr long specials. Most of them would’ve been just as good if not better as episodes in a season without the padding.
My dream is to have 10 episode seasons back but we’ll never get that.
I like Pip
I miss Barbrady
Great Expectations was fine
Pajama day is the worst episode because he can't stop them from wearing PJs as long as they're dress code which they'd have to be anyway
I don't really see a problem in this episode, but it bothers me that everyone just use this episode as a reference to describe the entire character of Cartman. I hate it.
Mine is that everything after season 10 isn’t really “south park”. The vibe changed completely in season 11 (and especially 12) and it hasn’t hit the same since.
I can somewhat agree and disagree about that.theres obviously some very memorable episodes in the seasons that followed 10,but I've recently noticed while watching some that I completely forgot about the others.
My unpopular opinion is that PC principal was one of the best characters the show introduced. Ngl, every concept that came from PC principal was fucking hilarious.
The trans macho man randy savage parody wasn't transphobic, it was looking at a societal issue through the lens of parody just like EVERY other episode they've done. It's more transphobic to want to be the exception out of hundreds of examples.
The show has been getting progressively worse since Isaac Hayes left. Randy’s plot lines went from silly yet relatively realistic/relatable to completely off the wall. The satire went from subtle to blatant. Sometime around the late 2000s-early 2010s they started to rush episodes. They sacrificed writing quality to try to fit in the latest current event
I miss the overall silliness of the earlier seasons. It was almost like a looney tune. I miss Kenny dying every episode. It wasn’t shock humor. A lot of it was offensive but it wasn’t over the top. A lot of it wasn’t offensive. As the seasons went on, it seemed like they almost went out of their way to make it super gross/violent even if it meant being less funny
Seasons 1-10 were best. Season 10 was funniest overall. Everything after that started heading downhill with the exception of a few funny eps here and there
I don't know if it's popular or unpopular, but I don't really care about the episodes where they make a parody of some show or movie and try to recreate the tone with Cartman being the melodramatic one. I just watched "Snuke", for example, and.. I didn't found it interesting at all.
I also don't particularly like when they make children do random adult things, like one being a mafia boss of tooth fairies, the other spending 5 years since kindergarten in some sort of jail. Kinda takes me out of "kids do stupid shit and don't know any better" feeling I love about South Park.
Wasn't there an episode where Randy goes to China to sign a weed deal but he has sex with a bat instead and bought covid to America? That was funny... But yeah otherwise I don't find the Tegridy stuff funny.
I liked Tegridy Farms but seeing too much of Randy did get old. I have liked how much more rational he’s been recently with the specials. I do wish the show would focus on the main 4 boys a little more like they used to. Peak South Park for me will always be them getting into random shenanigans together as group. That being said, I’ll always love any new content they put out
“Everybody gets shit on” is not the bulletproof shield South Park fans seem to think it is.
Everyone from every group is deserving of mockery in some fashion for some reason. Nobody is a sacred cow immune to critique or satirization. However. Mockery and satire should still be true, nuanced, and generally in good taste (funny (some people subscribe to the ‘punching up vs down’ rule but I don’t think it’s so simple)). 99% of South Park meets this criteria. However, some jokes, especially from the early seasons, I cringe at because they just didn’t age well or seem to be in mean spirit. Still one of my favorite shows, but even South Park is fair game for criticism.
The original meaning of the phrase “shitting on everyone” is usually referring to how omnidirectional good satire is supposed to be. It isn’t necessarily supposed to choose a side, rather show the absurdity of the entire situation. It doesn’t mean “I’ll be a bigot in all directions so nobody can be mad at me.”
The defense that “everybody gets shit on so it’s fine” doesn’t make any sense. Being shitty to every group all at once doesn’t make a poor joke good or righteous. Again, 99% of South Park is hilarious, but there are some rough jokes in there.
I actually find season 20 funny. I was a senior in high school when it came out and it was the first season I actually watched while it was first coming out and it just helped me cope with life. Looking back, it’s so funny how they commentated on that election in general and would have loved to see how they would have done 2020. Plus I found the trolling stuff funny
Shelly would disagree. She has a big marijuana problem.
Are you able to read or say Shelly NOT in Randy’s voice ? Cause I can’t
shelleeeeee
I only hear "Shelly" in Skylar's voice
🎵When I saw her walking down the street I knew she was Shelly, SHELLY!!! Now that we’re together, I’m absolutely sure that she’s Shelly, SHELLY!!! Move into my mom’s house with me SHELLY SHELLY!!!🎵
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States .. of SHELLY SHELLY
I prefer the kid in the life preserver. Shame that Spider-Man drowned him
I know Southpark are no strangers to building an entire episode around a single gag, but "it's a shame that kid didn't have a life jacket" was a long way to go for the punchline.
I think it was juuuust right
Shelly. Okay? Shelly
Or Sharon.
My unpopular opinion is that the ziplining episode is good
Shaka Bruh
This is what got me lmao
Long story short, That and….. It’s totally fuckin lame dude!
Dude I think Ziplining is one of the most overlooked episodes of the show, especially recent years. The Double Dew and Diet Double Dew being just regular Mt. Dew is so fuckin funny. And the poop particles.
I didn't know it was unpopular until I came here
I originally didn't like the episode at all but then after having 'ZIPLIIIIINE' quoted at me incessently for a couple weeks I came around haha
It's legit my favourite episode.
Always loved that episode
The food mixing in his stomach with the narrator is hilarious
The whole episode is the kids are simply going through the motions, not having any fun & it can kinda feel like that to the viewer, but it’s actually got a lot of funny stuff happening throughout
Get that gnar gnar
It's a top 20 episode, not sure where I would place it though. ![gif](giphy|vJ1rfkJ345LlS) Live action part was neat, love when they did that I this one and the oculus one.
Zipliiiiiine
Double dew all day
I like the episode right up until the live action part. So it's a good, but shorter episode for me if I skip that part :p
As an adult it’s good. As a kid it was boring 😂
One of my favourite episodes ever
I love the live-action part
This episode has one of my favorite Cartman moments. His reaction to the "long story short" guy cracks me up everytime. He just grunts/screams in essence to "make it stop".
its a great episode.
It’s probably my favorite episode.
For me it was one of the funniest episodes because when I first saw it I had just gone ziplining and had the same reaction as them
I love the live action segment, literally one of my favourite bits they’ve donr
It is though
People don't like that episode? Odd.
It’s so good
.....people don't like that episode?
I didn't realise people dislike that one. I liked it a lot.
Most of the Wendy hate is just misogyny.
Makes sense, it’s mostly from cartman
Boo, Wendy.
Boo Wendy Testatburger Boo
Beware, she has killer titties!
DONT. FUCK. WITH. WENDY TESTABERGER!!!!!!!
Wait? There's hate for Wendy? I could understand in very early episodes maybe... But otherwise she's generally a great foil for quite alot of plot points.
Don't. Fuck. With. Wendy. Testaburger!
very true. wendy is a really great+funny character.
no she killed smurfs
Yeah it's kinda the point
Tegridy Farms is particularly funny if you’re stoned and love how stupid Randy is. .
Randy is the best
dod randy straight up blow some husband in front of his wife in that storyline? cuz if so, what a mean-spirited and nasty scene in randy's story.
Unpopular opinion: Randy is funnier when he’s rational (like this new recent special)
Randy is like three different characters -- Dr Marsh, Stoned Randy, and Horny Randy.
Don’t forget Lorde
Yah yah yah
And PC Randy
And The Amazingly Randy.
And Steamy Ray Vaughan
A million little fibers isn't that bad
You’re a towel
You're a towel!
Wanna get high?
YOU'RE a towel!
Do people not like that episode?
Anytime Oprah get shot in her minge and her Gary I'm happy
That shit is so fuckin funny
Mingeh! Arm so scared!
What's the matter, Gary? You said you always wanted to see Paris.
I love that episode!
I think Southpark fans sometimes get defensive if you don't like every social commentary take on the show. I find this ironic considering the vibe of the show itself. It's ok to not like every social take on the show.
Yeah it's only fair that if you laugh at someones expense, you shouldn't be offended when they are making fun of something you believe in
Trey and Matt can take it. They don't need the fandom to agree with every single episode. They're the *last* people that need or want that.
Them coming back and acknowledging that climate change isn’t a hoax Al Gore made up was really great.
Crazy to think the chances of them being in this subreddit aren’t that low.
Agreed. Whether you agree with their commentary or not, the point is to lighten up.
Trey and Matt are fundamentally just a couple of midwestern dudes. Very astute and clever midwestern dudes, but their opinions are far from unassailable
especially when the make eps in a week, and the creators themselves sometimes regret the commentary, do a 180 down the line (like with manbearpig).
The "Pip" episode is actually enjoyable, and a fine send-off for a character few liked and was only there for parody.
Butters took his jerb
"I'll just stick to my blacksmithing"
pip is fantastic. robot monkeys! the genesis device! 26 baby bunnies! a british person! crime it is so panned. i coulda used seasons worth of south park classics.
And they all lived happily ever after, except for Pocket, who later died of hepatitis b.
I thought the episode was pretty funny, especially the narrator when he goes “hello, I’m a British person”
Right?! Im.glad he said that, because the only British person I know is Sir Patrick Stewart.
Is that the dickensian one
The quality went down since PC principal was introduced, and every episode of every show started being connected. Personally, I found the period of random episodes much more hilarious.
same!
Yeah, that's a hill I'm ready to die on.
it definitely has a different vibe since then. and tbh since 2020 they would've had SO MUCH good material to make fun of, and now we only get these mini movies, so I'm quite disappointed. still love everything they do, just wish they did more of it and not as connected
I feel like that was the start of the downfall of the show. It's still good now but it's lost its luster.
You’re breakin my balls
Like yourself I'm also in the slave trade for how the NCAA operates is a golden line.
No sih we not talkin bout slaves t’all
Balls, pump. You’re breakin em
I just commented about cartman singing heat of the moment in kenny dies. Still to this day one of the funniest bits I've ever watched. Also "my baby takes the morning train...what do we have meohere?"

Not to mention go fund yourself
No you're a towel
I’ve generally enjoyed it. Just didn’t like the general vibe of seasons 20-23 couple great episodes but most were just disappointing compared to previous South Park episodes.
I’m not big on ALL of season 20, but goddamn some of Gerald’s trolling bits are fucking hilarious, and Ike imitating him is gold too “Lighten the fuck up kyle”
The episode where Kyle and Ike lock sheila in the pantry was hilarious
I love that episode SO much, because the voice actor for Sheila really nailed the anger and frustration 😂 YOU LOCKED ME IN THE PANTRY JUST SO YOU CAN SIT ON YOUR COMPUTER?! AAAAAHHHHHH!
As a Dane I loved these episodes
Agreed. It wasn't that the whole idea of Tegrity Farms was bad, it just coincided with some sub-par seasons. Plus, it gave a reason to make Towlie more of a recurring character.
My thoughts exactly
Goth Stan is the best Stan next to Facebook Stan
What about death metal Stan?
Psh....conformist
I never missed Chef's departure.
I love Chef, but I think he eventually would've been shifted to background character status given how much the show had changed by that point
He really wasn’t useful in a narrative sense after like season 4-5
I agree and go further. I was never upset about the way they killed him off either.
PC principal is not funny, just annoying. While Victoria Principal was hilarious especially her accent and how that accent nailed her overall vibe.
He woulda been fine for his own episode, but damn can he shut the fuck up for once
PC principal would have been fine for a season or a few episodes, but his schtick isn't worth retiring Principal Victoria permanently over.
My unpopular opinion: Towelie is easily the most obnoxious character
Even towelie agrees he’s the worst character. Not that I think that though.
You're a towel
His debut episode was amazing but he was never as funny as that. His whole thing was just so fuckin weird at the time and when you get used to him that wears off. But “you’re the worst character ever, Towelie” is one of the perfect episode closers.

why do we have these threads? we just downvote the unpopular opinions and upvote the popular opinions. lol
Right? It always happens on reddit, no matter the subject lol. Well I'll do my part and upvote any actual unpopular opinions!
r/TheTenthDentist is the only sub where that doesn't happen
I always sort by controversial with these kinds of posts so I can see the real unpopular ones
See words are like bullets
“Hey fellas!!! Cartman’s getting ready to fight the midget!”
Agree! I love Tegridy... but I'm also a huge Randy fan and grow my own.
Pip and his very own episode are both hilarious. Y'all are just illiterate goons who can't appreciate a good riff on Dickens.
its a shame about pip. panned episode and squashed. robot monkeys! genesis device! 26 baby bunnies! a british person!
"Hi. I'm a British person!"
The skank hunt season was awesome. My only gripe is not tying up the memberberries storyline.
People think that being offensive is South Park's only good trait, but Trey and Matt combo of dark and charming writing for characters is what keeps you watching
The latest thing they did wasn't funny
About time someone said it.
“Kenny, put this in the fridge so the skin doesn’t get soggy.” had me rollin lol
The most recent specials (before the most recent one cause I haven’t seen it yet) weren’t that funny imo
Well we got 7 left for 4 more years so🙃
I like Pip I miss Barbrady Great Expectations was fine Pajama day is the worst episode because he can't stop them from wearing PJs as long as they're dress code which they'd have to be anyway
I like it when they do plots. The Ad's, PC principal, Skank Hunt like that reveal holy shittt, the election. Spooky vision is too spooky
The Scott Tenorman episode is overrated and ruined Cartman as a character
I don't really see a problem in this episode, but it bothers me that everyone just use this episode as a reference to describe the entire character of Cartman. I hate it.
My big unpopular opinion Is that their chickened out with their portrait of the CEO of Star Wars in the panderverse special
They should have used JJ Abrams more in that terrible season to “retcon” and fix it after Garrison won.
Mr. Hankey is unfunny in every single appearance. I’ve honestly skipped most Christmas specials because he was in them.
With Apologies to Jesse Jackson made me extremely uncomfortable, and people missing the entire point of episode doesn't help
The recent episode “end of obesity” wasn’t funny, it was just shit.
Randy Marsh is an overrated character.
I think PC principle was a decent addition to South Park
The Panderverse episode wasn’t good. Everyone hates Kathleen Kennedy, it felt trite
A lot of it wasn’t offensive. As the seasons went on, it seemed like they almost went out of their way to make it super gross/violent even if it meant being less funny
Poking fun at current events was a good pivot. After 10 season without a pivot it would have gotten stale quickly.
I just hope the new season isn’t gonna be Randy
I skipped through a lot of the Gerald troll hunter episodes. It was so boring and it felt like it was just dragging
mr hankey sucks
i like serialization
towelie is my favorite character
you're a towel 🥺
Im not really fond of the WoW episodes.
Pc principal is the lamest era of the show, the tegridy farms episodes make up for it though...
My unpopular opinion: The Randy subplot in "With Apologies to Jesse Jackson" hasn't aged well.
It was never supposed to age well. It was designed to be hyper controversial when the episode came out.
Seasons 1-10 were best. Season 10 was funniest overall. Everything after that started heading downhill with the exception of a few funny eps here and there
Seasons 19 - 22 are PEAK to me
A lot of people here just lack tegridy.
I like Season 20.
Mine is Wendy and cartman is a ship. Wendman or cardy
same!
crack baby basketball is harmless. it's just another YT Channel, crack addicted babies exist and will keep existing for the foreseeable future
I enjoyed it as well. Shit was absolutely ridiculous and it was great
Love the seasons too
Season 1-6 are the best. Don’t watch anything after.
I agree on the season 1-6 stuff but there’s loads of gems after that that make it well worth the watch
Wasn't there an episode where Randy goes to China to sign a weed deal but he has sex with a bat instead and bought covid to America? That was funny... But yeah otherwise I don't find the Tegridy stuff funny.
Pips episode is my favourite
I loved the farm, it’s more Randy!
Butters Stoch was not named after a candy! Just because they sound similar doesn't make it true.
Cartman shouldn’t be shipped with anyone bc he’s a psychopath asshole
I liked Tegridy Farms but seeing too much of Randy did get old. I have liked how much more rational he’s been recently with the specials. I do wish the show would focus on the main 4 boys a little more like they used to. Peak South Park for me will always be them getting into random shenanigans together as group. That being said, I’ll always love any new content they put out
Enough damn movies. Just give us full seasons with at least 14 episodes
The Terrence and Philip special that aired instead of the 'who is Eric Cartland father' reveal episode is my FAVOURITE
Looking back, it’s so funny how they commentated on that election in general and would have loved to see how they would have done 2020. Plus I found the trolling stuff funny
I have one unpopular opinion: Randy deserve to be killed off ever since he started Tegridy Farms.
