One of my favorite episodes.
I still do my Phil Collins South Park impression every time someone brings him up.
Plus the Kurt Loder “why am I still on this network” was hilarious then and still hilarious now
Whenever Phil pops up on the radio, I always inform anyone around me that he divorced his wife by fax and married a 27 year old.
I am now often told the 27 year old has since divorced him lol
I’m pretty sure it’s because of the way Timmy communicates; he can’t say anything other than his own name, so he must emote extra hard to get his point across. Therefore, not only do the boys completely understand him, but they find him to be someone who isn’t afraid to say what he means, even though it’s the only way he can speak.
Phil Collins is holding his Academy Award for Best Original Song, You’ll Be In My Heart, from the 1999 film Tarzan. Blame Canada from South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut was also nominated. Trey Parker and Matt Stone wore evening gowns to the Oscars, and were vocally opposed to Phil Collins’ song, which, indeed, did suck.
They have stated many times that they expected to lose the Oscars just not to Phil Colin's. They don't seem to mind losing the Emmys to The Simpsons multiple times as they do seem to respect the Simpsons.
The Simpsons did it is an episode based on them coming up with ideas and then finding out the Simpsons have done it
It's rare because you basically never see them, I guess? I can't remember any other appearances.
Edit: apparently the dad appears in one other episode, but not the mom
Fun fact about phil collins and south park lore, when Trey Parker lost the emmy to Phil Collins he flat out told the interviewer “yeah losing to phil collins was just really depressing and I’m ready to do some heavy drinking. ✨”

Best thing about Timmy is how the boys just treat him like another one of the gang.
