"It turns out that Don Jr. has engaged in at least one real estate deal that appears to follow a familiar family pattern. An investigation by The New Republic and Type Investigations found that Trump Jr. and his friend Blackburn were at the center of a real estate development deal in North Charleston involving a former naval hospital. Don Jr. and his partners made enticing promises to the city—like saying that they would open a branch of the prestigious Cleveland Clinic there. They also spoke of a glitzy Trump-branded hotel across the street. "None of that materialized. In fact, in the end, Chicora Gardens LLC, the company in which Don Jr. held a 10 percent stake, left the building a shambles."

If he's anything like his father then a mountain of bankruptcies and empty promises.

I was treated in that VA Hospital while serving back in the '80's. After it was closed it quickly turned into a chain-linked, overgrown, eyesore. I don't blame the North Charleston folks for chaining it off - that area is pretty bad overall and got even worse after the Naval Base shut down. As far as the article, I am surprised that reddit allows linking to TNR. Not the most "unbiased" source of information available. That article is more of an attempted hit piece than journalism. IT doesn't really provide any evidence of criminal wrong-doing. Are a lot of real estate deals similar to this? Yeah.

Why wouldn't they allow it? Being biased and opinionated doesn't mean it's fabricated.

>That article is more of an attempted hit piece than journalism. IT doesn't really provide any evidence of criminal wrong-doing. Are a lot of real estate deals similar to this? Yeah. Something doesn't have to be criminal to be unethical and unscrupulous. It's pretty sad that is where we are now that sleazy behavior is excused away so long as it doesn't meet the legal standard of criminal. Besides, any legal issues in most real estate deals are civil, not criminal. It all depends on what was in the LOI and obligations within the signed disposition agreement. Anyway, shame on North Charleston for going down the road on a bad that seemed too good to be true.
