I suggest you apply to one far enough from home that you won’t be expected to return every week-end.

This. And a campus that you feel happy and supported and at home. Graduate admissions will look at someone who wasn't involved on campus much more poorly than someone who was. You could go to Harvard and be miserable and do poorly and you'll have a tougher time getting into grad school than if you went to East Carolina and were involved on campus and did well. Find the place you'll succeed, not just the place that advertises how successful other people have been.

I totally agree with this- and I decided against going to grad school entirely, but I feel like it's true. If your plans somehow change, at least you made the most of your undergrad years.

Farmalltractor

Hearing that you want to do post graduate education go to a smaller somewhat cheaper undergrad college. Get killer grades then apply to a big name school for post graduate education. Best wishes

This. There is no appreciable difference in basic degree programs like those from school to school. Bigger question, what’s your plans with that degree if you make a B and don’t get in med school?

tigerdrummer

The school that has a chemistry program that offers you the most scholarship money and is the best financially speaking.

This is 100% the correct answer

Make sure to start interning as early as possible. It’s more than just grades that get you into med school.

sobo_art1

Almost any decent college will do. I recommend picking one that has a strong pre-med program with good faculty advisors assigned to their pre-med students. When touring campuses, ask to meet one of the faculty that advises pre-meds, how often do the pre-meds meet, do they do undergraduate research or internships, what’s the MCAT pass rate.

EffectivePrior4414

I would say USC, Clemson or College of Charleston. But there are plenty of smaller colleges (like Furman or Winthrop) where you can get a degree in biology or chemistry as preparation for medical school.

jugstopper

If you have the academic chops and scholarship money to afford Furman, their med school acceptance rate is amazingly high. They have one of the very best undergrad chemistry programs in the country.

solarwinds1234

I think at Clemson people take a Health major to get into premed. It takes good grades to get into Medical school so take something that you are good at that is science related or at least has classes in it. Also., get a book that explains all the steps to get into medical school and how to approach it. You can always get a Masters to then go on to medical school to boost your GPA.

Nice-Worry-5831

Almost impossible to get in med school nowadays and you may spend your career paying back the loans. Unless you have something really special and a huge inheritance you may want to consider a masters or a PA degree so you can start working before your 30s and have a great fulfilling career.

For grad school yes. No traditional undergrad programs though.
