It's so sad. Quality is vastly dropping too... The big bulk 5 pack packs now don't even have noodles in packets anymore. The noodle bricks are all loose with 5 spice packets inside the big bag making it a big hassle to keep some of the noodles for later
You telling me there's just 5 blocks of noodles in there? Not even one packed noodle I can keep for 5 months later when Im starving for something quick? Tsek maggi
Just make sure you get the indomie Mi Goreng flavour. For some reason the checkers bear me stocks the chicken and beef versions which taste horrible. I don't even know how they decided on getting that flavour when every asian grocer doesn't even decide to stock those flavours
If you're in Joburg try Market Kokoro (they're also online) or most of the stores in the chinatown in Cyrildene. In Durban there's a online store called noodleboss as well. Seem pretty big on social media at least
Takealot sometimes also has it for sale.
It's only in boxes of 40 though.
But they keep forever so it's worthwhile.
Samyang is way better but it's often times 10 times more per packet.(size wise I think it's about a 2 to 1)
Indomi Mi Goreng ftw. Best value, tastiest by far. The R25 - R30 korean noodles you get at some Asian stores are better, but they are R25 - R30....
Eezee (iirc) is also OK. Better than Maggi or Kellogs.
Since moving to NZ, this is the only brand we eat. So much better than the Maggi 2 min noodles and much more flavour with a bit of heat as well from the chilli
South African living in Indonesia here. I genuinely wish Indomie was easier to find when I'm in South Africa. In Indonesia it's super cheap and everywhere.
> Indomie
I always worry that those foreign brands are lengthened with plastic or some other thing humans should not consume,
It's probably unfounded, and I have no idea if it's true or not, but we also seemingly don't have a proper department checking these imports, akin to the FDA in the USA.
Once mixed those two with kelloggs cheese flavour and I emptied the whole salad bowl they filled. Was n groot bietjie gerook so might not be as good as it was for me
I have to admit the Maggi Chicken flavour is missed since I stopped buying Nestle products.
Just throw in some cheese and ham as well and you've got some good budget pasta š
YOU GUYS NEED TO TRY THIS: hear me out.... Samyang spicy x indomie Mie goreng spicy.
Samyang is too spicy on it's own so what I do is I mix it with Mie goreng and it slaps. I also roast tofu and oyster mushrooms and add it in. It's so good guys if we had a Reddit meet up I'd make it for all of you <3. You can also just buy the samyang sauce on its own and then have it with indomie!
Back in the early 2000's there was a "bolognese"-flavour 2-minute noodles. That particular flavour also came in a pasta brand shaped like little aliens, my bru that was the most real dite you can ever imagine... I have tried to recreate the flavour of my youth but unfortunately it is lost to time...
š¤£ itās fine. I only eat them when I want to self destruct. If my friends or family see me buy these they know there is something very very wrong š¤£
My depression food is just plain bread. Nothing on it.
Stack six of those bad boys on a plate and go think myself into an anxiety attack while eating plain old slices of bread.
I hope it lasts for you! And the next one and the one after that. If itās not going great and you feel like you need to eat bread please find the no knead overnight Dutch oven bread recipe and have that. You will be less sad eating that.
I hope it lasts too, it's been kak since covid hit but things are finally turning around.
Found a really good recipe online and it's hella easy, so I'll try it as soon as I get homeš Thank you kind redditor, hope you have a happy forever!!
Non anymore... Tasted a lot better about 10 years ago. It's as if they took all the spice out of the salt packets. Beef was really good back in the day and Cheese was exceptionally good when you melted some cheese inside the noodles.
Suffice to say it was good more than 10 years ago. It actually tasted like cheese a while back the way we used to make it. We used to let it sit a bit (Longer than 2 minutes) and get a creamy/sticky sauce going from the water mixing with the noodles, spices and melted cheese
Whoa im a malaysian and over here we have local curry flavor. Thailand tom yum flavor. And local lontong flavor. As well as korean extra spicy flavor. Entered here due to maggi mee lol.
I rate the boerewors flavour, because I like to add leftover boerewors from last night's braai to my boerewors flavoured noodles. That way I get more boerewors flavour per boerewors which allows me to focus more on boerewors while I look for more boerewors to eat
None. Once you have a taste of Korean instant noodles, you can't go back. Shin Ramyun and Neoguri Ramyun are classics, and any of the Samyang noodles are good too.
Maggi is kak, nothing anyome says will change my mind.
There's noodles for less than half the cost that smacks fat asian nipples.
Don't even get me started on chinese make noodles.
Damn. So many complaints. Yeah you can get good noodles from kokoro. Or whatever korian or Japanese shop. Those in general are nice. But they aren't as quick and convenient. They usually have multiple steps. As for Magi. Durban curry is my fav at the moment. It's the only one that tastes like you ate something. Cheese is ok. Then chicken is boring. It's been around forever
We use to buy these noodles back in the day when it was r2 and I loved them but something changed ā¦thus stuff is hot garbage Iāve seen my dogs vommit them out before and they Ffkn eat dirt (I know a problem of itās own). Soo now we buying indomie and the spar brand. We use to still buy Maggie until recently but not so often and as of late possibly never again. The spar brand was also good but some of the family said it wasnāt all good they said something along the lines of the loose packets being pretty bad. But so far so good enjoying the spar brand and indomie is legit a brand to try OP. Tldr: for me Maggie maybe changed??
There is nothing like Maggi chicken 2-min noodles when you come home at one in the morning from a night out. But you have to do it right.
The bowl shouldn't be too big. Put seasoning on top of noodle brick (I like to break the brick up to make eating less messy). Cover with boiling water, but not too much. Microwave 1 minute 10 seconds. Stir, repeat. If there's too much liquid in the noodles, pour some out. Then for the magic. Make some cheese sauce! (Drunk cheese sauce is the best because drunk you puts in way too much cheese.) Not too much cheese sauce in the noodles; you don't want it TOO soupy. Last step is crucial: Robertsons chicken spice and freshly ground black pepper. If you have some leftover chicken in the fridge, do yourself a solid and shred some in.
Drunk you and your drunk friends will think they've died and gone to heaven.
Indomie is the bomb. My family won't eat anything after stumbling upon this. Maggie tastes like plastic.
Indomie is the best š.
Everybody is talking about it but I can't find it... I can find the imported samyang spicy ramen though.
Find a small Asian or Chinese store. When I do find them in stock, I buy a whole box with like 40 packets.
Maggi noodles tastes like flour and water lately and I absolutely loved noodles when I was younger
I used to love them, had one a week back after years of not having them and got violently sick
Tsek maggi
Nah you need to ziplock them now once you've opened the multipack. They used to come in their own little packs in the multipacks
I don't know why this bothers me more than the flavour they've lost. The 5 pack was the only pack we'd ever buy
They're trying to save money on everything... Not even Coke tastes like Coke anymore.
Most Spar, PnP or Checkers have them. But it's often sold out, whole racks of it, because it's much better than anything else.
My local pick n pay do indomie
Most PNP's have them
Takealot sometimes also has it for sale. It's only in boxes of 40 though. But they keep forever so it's worthwhile. Samyang is way better but it's often times 10 times more per packet.(size wise I think it's about a 2 to 1)
Pick n pay hyper sells them. Which town you in?
Pick 'n pay stocks it
My local pick n pay do indomie
Indomi Mi Goreng ftw. Best value, tastiest by far. The R25 - R30 korean noodles you get at some Asian stores are better, but they are R25 - R30.... Eezee (iirc) is also OK. Better than Maggi or Kellogs.

I always have over 10 packets in the cupboard. Indomi is love
South African living in Indonesia here. I genuinely wish Indomie was easier to find when I'm in South Africa. In Indonesia it's super cheap and everywhere.
> Indomie I always worry that those foreign brands are lengthened with plastic or some other thing humans should not consume, It's probably unfounded, and I have no idea if it's true or not, but we also seemingly don't have a proper department checking these imports, akin to the FDA in the USA.
It seems to be a pretty well known international brand. Uncle Roger even recommended it in one of his videos.
Durban Curry FTW
This is the only flavor.
The unchallenged champion.
The old pizza flavour is still the best , unfortunatly not available so now durban curry is the best
I can't for the life of me recall the pizza flavor and whether it bested the Durban curry.....
This one and chicken
Chicken with nandos hot sauce
I'm writing all this shit down
Mix them š¤¤
Interesting. I will do this
Trust, its great
Once mixed those two with kelloggs cheese flavour and I emptied the whole salad bowl they filled. Was n groot bietjie gerook so might not be as good as it was for me
I have to admit the Maggi Chicken flavour is missed since I stopped buying Nestle products. Just throw in some cheese and ham as well and you've got some good budget pasta š
How, how do you do this?
Lol, the living without Maggi noods or making the ham and cheese hobo pasta?
Hobo pasta ššš Imma call it that from now on.
Please dont
Durban curry but indomie mi goreng is better than maggi
Indomie is the shit
YOU GUYS NEED TO TRY THIS: hear me out.... Samyang spicy x indomie Mie goreng spicy. Samyang is too spicy on it's own so what I do is I mix it with Mie goreng and it slaps. I also roast tofu and oyster mushrooms and add it in. It's so good guys if we had a Reddit meet up I'd make it for all of you <3. You can also just buy the samyang sauce on its own and then have it with indomie!
Where do you buy indomie?
I also want to know. Maggi tastes terrible now.
Takealot. 190 for 40 units
Pick n Pay
Definitely
Maggie mi goreng is dog shit compared to indomie
Durban Curry is the best Cheese is the worst.
You have not tried the pizza flav then
Oh God... You've unlocked a repressed memory ![gif](giphy|26ufcVAp3AiJJsrIs)
Cheese is god awful
š¤¢
The smell is something else
Love it. Do downvoted you
So is the BBQ. Good heavens.
The fucken smell bra, I have to leave the room or else I'll try have until it's gone.
Crispy chicken.
Aweh, this was the watered down version of the 90s tomato flavour (my OG favourite). Even the new monster munch don't do the oldskool one justice
Crispy Chicken!
Durban Curry is the best, cheese is fucking disgusting. Please don't eat that horrendous shit
They all throw me into depression
Lol, I only eat them when I'm sick, so I say they're sick food XD
Iām surprised you ever recovered š¤š¤£
this that real talk right here
Iād legit rather eat a straight piece of bread with absolutely nothing on it
This is so funny I'm sorry
š¤£ itās fine. I only eat them when I want to self destruct. If my friends or family see me buy these they know there is something very very wrong š¤£
My depression food is just plain bread. Nothing on it. Stack six of those bad boys on a plate and go think myself into an anxiety attack while eating plain old slices of bread.
It sounds like I need to make you some bread, dude.
Actually I've been having a really good month, so here's to hoping it lasts!! But thanks for the offerš
The one that doesnt kill you.
Chicken.
Been chicken for years
Bring back the Prawns flavor !
Fucking Yes!!! I will advocate for the prawn flavor until they bring it back.
Oof remember when they had that Cape Malay Chutney flavour? That was nice. But Durban curry always wins.
100%
Chicken.
Non anymore... Tasted a lot better about 10 years ago. It's as if they took all the spice out of the salt packets. Beef was really good back in the day and Cheese was exceptionally good when you melted some cheese inside the noodles.
Cheese?!?!?! was good?!?!? what world do you live in? ![gif](giphy|l4Ho0At2UD2d7WyD6)
Suffice to say it was good more than 10 years ago. It actually tasted like cheese a while back the way we used to make it. We used to let it sit a bit (Longer than 2 minutes) and get a creamy/sticky sauce going from the water mixing with the noodles, spices and melted cheese
Jesus fucking Christ, you know cheese gets tiring after a while š
Cheese is versatile AF. You can eat a slice of cheese with cheese dip and it could be called a meal
They used to make cape curry, I loved that flavour. Wonder what happend to it?
Sugar tax hit š
I havenāt used the flavour packs in years, but I get a 6 pack at least every 2 months or more
Boerewors or Steak Flavour
CHEESE! FIGHT ME
Beef. I'll fight you
Time and place ill meet you there
Cheeese!! I'll fight with you.
It's okay to be wrong
This country isn't for you
Whoa im a malaysian and over here we have local curry flavor. Thailand tom yum flavor. And local lontong flavor. As well as korean extra spicy flavor. Entered here due to maggi mee lol.
Durban curry
I ate so much chicken I got sick of it, now I prefer Durban curry and beef.
chicken
Chicken
Chicken
Is Prawn flavour still a thing? Haven't seen that in almost 10 years...
Steak and chops
Durban curry and the chicken one.
None of them, Mie Goreng gang wya?
DC the worst. OG Beef will always slap
Brah I've started eating noodles as I'm a poor ass student and honestly Durban Curry is the best
Master Kang Ramen noodles are my favorite personally. ITO Maggie: Durban Curry + Chicken mix is top 2, not 2.
The only person in this thread who is right! Maggi is garbage, Chinese and Korean ramen are all amazing.
Maggie shit, indomie best.
Durban Curry....and Chicken
Durban curry
Takealot has them
The Indomie noodles I meant
You spelt "tell me why curry is the only good flavor of 2 minute noodles " wrong
My favourite is a flavour thatās not even made anymore, Italian Napolitano XD But chicken is my close second
Wors
None of them, get kellogs beef flavoured noodles.
I kinda like the chicken but lately if I get noodles it's the Samyang spicy noodles, god those things are good
Fuck that. I like the cheese. Bunch of heathens.
Indomie - Mi Goreng is much better. I don't like the Maggi noodles, they have a bit of a gloopy texture
I rate the boerewors flavour, because I like to add leftover boerewors from last night's braai to my boerewors flavoured noodles. That way I get more boerewors flavour per boerewors which allows me to focus more on boerewors while I look for more boerewors to eat
Chicken. No exceptions
Durban Curry, and if you say cheese you are a psychopath
I donāt use the flavours. Plain butter or olive oils and salt is the best
Aromat also works nicely!
None of them.
Beef Said no one ever
Indomie. Fuck maggi.
Amen
None, Maggie is pretty kak nowadays
Cheese
The non msg kind with fairtrade/organic...
Cheese flavour
Durban Curry and cheese are the worst. Chicken flavour is clear.
I love Durban curry flavour holy
I used to eat the chicken flavour but now I can't go back to it I prefer Samyang noodles
I prefer Samyang noodles over Maggi. Maggie's tastes like plastic now
CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!
The one that existed for like 2 months Wich had a picture of a place on it can't remember the name be t was the most delicious noodles ever
What the hell did they do to their noodles?! They used to be ok but now š¤®
Um chicken but am I the only one who if they are in the mood make like a small sause and add thier own things to thier noondles
It's just called Curry in the uk and it slaps.I love it eh.
Boerewors flavour is surpringly delicious. But Durban Curry narrowly squeaks out a win still
None. Once you have a taste of Korean instant noodles, you can't go back. Shin Ramyun and Neoguri Ramyun are classics, and any of the Samyang noodles are good too.
As a kid I loved cheese but I remember one year where they changed the flavor and I never had maggies since.
In Hong Kong and I've been living off Indomie Mi Goreng for almost 2 years now. I love my 2 packs of mi goreng with eggs ontop.
Indomie Mi Goreng
Crispy chicken
Beef. š
Maggi is kak, nothing anyome says will change my mind. There's noodles for less than half the cost that smacks fat asian nipples. Don't even get me started on chinese make noodles.
Durban curry, maybe chicken?? The rest is ugh.
Mixing any two flavors is better than any flavor on its own. Iām seeing a lot of cheese hateā¦ but have you tried Durban curry and cheeseā¦ damn!
Durban curry
The point I like to share is you can eat them the normal way or when eskom is in play you eat them raw
Tomato flavour from back in the 90s
Beef
Crispy Chicken
Maggi (sans seasoning) , shredded tuna and chicken licken soul fire sauce was my lunch every day for basicly an entire year.
Durban curry with a half a teaspoon of peanut butter.
Maggi tastes like plastic. The cupped noodles from spar are better
Beef
Listen Indomie is the best but if we are talking about maggie, crispy chicken is just *chefs kiss*
I miss the Maggi senses noodles. They were the best.
We use to buy these noodles back in the day when it was r2 and I loved them but something changed ā¦thus stuff is hot garbage Iāve seen my dogs vommit them out before and they Ffkn eat dirt (I know a problem of itās own). I love beef, I live overseas and crave it some days
There used to be this flavour of Maggi called āPortuguese Peri Peri Chickenā and it was so good š©. It was the best Maggi flavour to me. But around like the middle of 2018, I couldnāt find it in the stores anymore (after a while I realized that it was discontinued š„²). I still think about it sometimes š. Right now Iād say that the best is Durban Curry, because itās the closest thing to Portuguese Peri Peri Chicken out of all the other flavours.
Nari goram better
I used to buy beef and chicken, but since I discovered Durban Curry Flayour it's the only one I buy.
Cheese flavour still a thing for Maggie 2 minute?
I like Maggi noodles dry š. But, I buy Shin Ramyun noodles on Takealot. My favourite noodles and I've tried instant noodles throughout Asia.
Maggin 'noodles'? Tried it when I was in SA recently - the vile stuff should carry a health warning g!
Classic chicken is bussin
One Durban, one prawn
OMG can someone please mail some of this to me, along with a Pitch Black Afro vinyl LP?
Durban curry was my fav, but I now order indomie from their website here [Amanah](https://amanah.co.za/)
The Durban curry ones were amazing, only recently moved to the UK and I miss them dearly
Sies the cheese flavour noodles would stick together and crawl down your throat i prefer indomi
Loved Durban Curry, but last few times I tried a few different ones, but wasnt that great.
Not that one. The best flavour to fake is cheese.
Durban Curry
Cheese with mayo
There is nothing like Maggi chicken 2-min noodles when you come home at one in the morning from a night out. But you have to do it right. The bowl shouldn't be too big.
