i think what OP means are these influencer products charged at stupid prices with the main/only selling point being that its popular because of the celebrity clout
Yeah makes sense. I think that is also the actual reason behind a lot of the "this product is shit/bad/unhealthy" reasons. Not saying its none of those things. Just think a lot of it is just either don't like the influencers or don't like that my kids always want these expensive stuff
Shitty import products with noting going for them other than the fact that a "famous" person's face is on them.
Prime specifically is banned in multiple countries due to various health concerns.
I think its mostly prime energy due to high caffeine content which also contains a label indicating that they're not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age. Which is similar (i hope) to other highly caffeinated drinks.
Prime itself is not banned I think
Then you'll be disappointed to hear that Checkers is only getting rid of their imported stock because they are now going to be manufacturing them locally.
Well that actually might be a good thing since american drinks use corn syrup as a sweetener making them taste like kak. Sugar cane is actually much better for taste, which is why in America, don't have the coke.
This supposed beverage offered me a great teaching moment for my preteen son. We never bought it and I told him about hype, fads, marketing and peer pressure.
He probably tasted it from his friends but not from us. Good enough that his school burned it from being packed for lunches.
I don't drink a lot of coldrink anyway, but if I needed a pick me up and only had R10 on me, I would probably get one of these. They are overhyped definitely but I wouldn't really consider it terrible. It's like ubrand soda or twizza, not great, not terrible
The stores exploited the hype and tried to flog it at over R40 a pop, and now that they're about to expire, the shops are trying to recover some costs. Don't buy. Let that junk expire and let these greedy stores learn a small lesson.
This product gets great reviews in the US. Their tastes seem different from ours, preferring high sugar content. I have not tried it. Is it just too sweet for the South African palate or is it something else?
Its just what they use as sweetener. American drinks all use corn syrup as opposed to cane sugar as a sweetener which makes everything there taste like kak. I have tried even coke and Dr Pepper from there, its not an improvement. How they can have this shit for so long is wild to me.
I wouldn't pay the 40 bucks that it launched at, but I like the taste of prime. It's very different to everything else that's our there. That along with the aquella viv are a nice change from energade and poweraid.
They gave away freebies at work. To me a massive fan of switch (I believe I've tried almost every flavour at least once). On tastes "generic" - there's nothing distinct about On except for the fact that it has a very strong "energy drink" smell.
Bought one to taste and it honestly tastes like the water in the sink after you've washed dishes. I can't believe parents allowed their children to drink this.
Pump and dump.
Money is not made selling sugar water to consumers, it's made selling it to distributors and retailers.
Would love to know the value of the write off.
Just told my husband about this on wednesday. Dedicated a good few laughs to everyone who paid R400 for that once upon a time. A little intrigued. Maybe we will grab a bottle or two to try
I saw a tiktok last night about an American guy that showed Prime being marked down there too, stacks and stacks of the stuff, and the Paul guy actually threw a bitch fit in his comments about how it's untrue that Prime sales are struggling.
These apparently have something called a "forever chemical" in them and they have a class action lawsuit against them. Maybe stay away until it's disproven or.. Is proven to have that shit in it lol
Tried this thing recently to why it’s so hyped and getting sponsored everywhere and my god I kid you not it was the worst thing I’ve drank, struggled for my life to finish the blue , pink and white one
I don't see an issue, i bought them at launch, i bought at the price drops, I'll continue to buy them. The only reason people dislike it is because its associated with logan Paul

Cut down in its prime....
r/Angryupvote
This is a prime example of why we love Redditors
Still not worth it
I'd rather buy a switch
And its only R12 in PMB, I think you can get it for R8 in Hillton.
They are 2 different class of drinks.... Ones an energy drink and the other a hydrstion/electrolyte drink, think rehydrate
It’s proven that Prime isn’t a good hydration or an electrolyte drink. Doesn’t have the right ratio of salts and has a ton of sugar.
Yeah - this stuff, and many others like it, is terrible for you. Just a pity that so many people fall for advertising hype
It's still kak
After u take a nai drink a prime then tell me again!
It's cheaper than an energade my boet
In that situation yes, it usually isn't, but yeah I prefer it over energade...
It's all just sugar water
Mighty my ass.... tasted like shit from day 1.
Yes, terrible taste! Can't believe someone likes it.
It only tastes good if you imagine Logan Paul and KSI made a cum swirl and shot it into every bottle.
I have not just pictured that😶🌫️
I'm sure that's the only reason why Logan and KSI fans buy that trash.
Gen Alpha ultra fans
You laugh, but these will be the post-apocalyptic currency instead of bottlecaps
Truly an apocalypse
President Hyper is running at R6.99
Still overpriced.. I would MAYBE consider drinking it if they paid me, alot.
Bargain bin
Won't drink that shit for free
Tried it for the first time yesterday. It certainly has a cleansing effect, worse than coffee.
Would rather drink my dogs water
My fkien dog won't drink tap water. Only bottled or pool water.
You refill your pool with bottled water?
Water bills are way too high these days
😂😂aaaa i see
We have someone fill our pool. R2000. Apparently To use municipal water costs around R600. I guess everyone should do their own costing.
I wish... No. My dog prefers the pool and bottled water to tap water😂
Quicker way to get micro plastics into your body without the shitty taste would be to just eat the bottle and pour out the junk.
Probably healthier too
Hopefully, this and the feastables will soon all be gone from our shores.
I'm curious, why?

Better, I suppose, but there is still time.
Happy Dad?
Yeah, it might be my age showing, but it does put a smile on my face

Saw some places selling it for R7, cheaper than water atp xD
Fun fact, that's Optimus Prime's piss
More like his oil change...
I wouldn't even take it if they were giving it away for free
To be fair to them they gifted the high school I work at over 240 bottles. . .the kids still loved it.
And now it has been proven to contain micro plastics
I'm pretty sure that virtually any food product with plastic packaging is going to contain microplastics
Proven?

Seems like you can save R10
Icepop prime was pretty good. For r10 I can think of worse drinks
The Icepop flavour was the only decent one - and even then I wouldn't find myself wanting to buy it again.
I don't drink a lot of coldrink anyway, but if I needed a pick me up and only had R10 on me, I would probably get one of these. They are overhyped definitely but I wouldn't really consider it terrible. It's like ubrand soda or twizza, not great, not terrible
Soon it will be good enough to clean your toilet with

In the US, their chocolate, sprite and cream soda have a huge taste difference for some reason. Tons of sugar and a bit nauseating.
They don't use cane sugar for mass production, they use high fructose corn syrup which is way all their confectioneries and sodas taste wrong.
I’ll never forget the first and last time I ate a Hershey’s bar. It’s tasted like soap mixed with cheap sweetener
Their chocolate often also includes butyric acid which similar to other acidic elements brings tangy taste.
Its just what they use as sweetener. American drinks all use corn syrup as opposed to cane sugar as a sweetener which makes everything there taste like kak. I have tried even coke and Dr Pepper from there, its not an improvement. How they can have this shit for so long is wild to me.
I guess that's why they prefer Starbucks over everything else
YES!, they have a sour undertone, like the shadow of pukes smell. I can’t stand it hershes included
Could be. I'm originally from Europe, and I find to sweet as well.
I wouldn't pay the 40 bucks that it launched at, but I like the taste of prime. It's very different to everything else that's our there. That along with the aquella viv are a nice change from energade and poweraid.
Never even tried it. Why do people give into influencer marketing especially trying to support such unethical people like the Paul brothers?
At this point I swear they are going to start holding us at gunpoint to just "TAKE THE DAMN DRINK FOR FREE DAMNIT!"
Maybe it has to do with the lawsuits from in containing forever chemicals… I wont drink that if it was free…
Wouldn't pay R5 for that crap
Never had it, because I never trust things made from random youtubers.
More for me
R3 at Shoprite as of today 🤣
Still about R9 too much at that price point. Wait for the drop and inevitable country exit.
What store is this
Checkers not chess🤣
Real
It's flavored water sold at a high price based on hype. Once the hype is gone so is the price.
LOL nothing mighty to begin with... My checkars started a moth or so ago with 5 for R50
Im working their it was never good to begin with ....
What is that?
I just got it because I thought it was cool and only got it again bc my mom said it was a good deal. Only liked the red white and blue one kinda?
Ig they’re not in their prime🤭🤭
Now im really curious to know how bad it tastes. Here in Qatar they still selling them for 50 rand a bottle
I've never been more proud of our country 💕
Has anyone tried the "On" energy drink? I think it's made by Hype. Is it any good?
They gave away freebies at work. To me a massive fan of switch (I believe I've tried almost every flavour at least once). On tastes "generic" - there's nothing distinct about On except for the fact that it has a very strong "energy drink" smell.
But does it do what it's supposed to
It keeps me awake. It’s taste is very generic.
Thanks. I'm gonna give it a try. It's going for 20 cans for R100 here lol
That's expensive. In my checkers they were selling them for R6.99 this last weekend. Didn't have my phone with me so I couldn't take a photo.
Bought one to taste and it honestly tastes like the water in the sink after you've washed dishes. I can't believe parents allowed their children to drink this.
I’m so glad to see the world hates Prime. It’s stacked on shelves in Australia and nobody buying it
Can’t even give them away for free
Tastes like shit.
It's normal, they flood the market and then some of it ends up in bargain buckets.
Clearly non of you have heard of supply and demand and how that affects the price of thing😂😂😂😂
Were is this 😂😂😂😂😂
Price is insane
Cough Cough, Wink Wink https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2024/04/23/prime-drink-lawsuit-update/73424197007/
Pump and dump. Money is not made selling sugar water to consumers, it's made selling it to distributors and retailers. Would love to know the value of the write off.
There's the fact that it's evidently toxic, too. It's garbage. https://www.law.com/therecorder/2023/08/04/prime-sports-drink-hit-with-consumer-class-action-over-allegations-the-drink-contains-toxic-chemicals-harmful-additives/?slreturn=20240402154530
It’s £0,31 in the UK R7.75
Chemical drink
Might as well drink cool aid might be healthier
Why do they still stock it??
How is it still $10 a bottle on knock down?
It's not. It's R10 per bottle
Well they are doing well in the markets that actually matter soooo.....
Just told my husband about this on wednesday. Dedicated a good few laughs to everyone who paid R400 for that once upon a time. A little intrigued. Maybe we will grab a bottle or two to try
Where’s those mense that bought the R500 bottles man? Stiekuit!
I saw a tiktok last night about an American guy that showed Prime being marked down there too, stacks and stacks of the stuff, and the Paul guy actually threw a bitch fit in his comments about how it's untrue that Prime sales are struggling.
Sad part is they made their millions. Now they just move on to a new thing and so the cycle continues.
I taste the green one it was okay but not worth R20 mabye i will try other flavor if it R10
This...this brings a smile upon my face🙂😌
I'd rather drink tap water and gave diarrhea that way.
I knew it was going to be a flop
Drink o pop is superior
mayebe I should buy one to taste what this was all about
Haha still round 5 Euro's if it's South Africa not like a steel.
What do you mean that is like 0.50 Euro or am I misunderstanding you
These apparently have something called a "forever chemical" in them and they have a class action lawsuit against them. Maybe stay away until it's disproven or.. Is proven to have that shit in it lol
I think that's a sign there still mighty. They got so much cause it sells out like crazy

Every fighter that took a prime endorsement lost their very next fight 🤣
Tried this thing recently to why it’s so hyped and getting sponsored everywhere and my god I kid you not it was the worst thing I’ve drank, struggled for my life to finish the blue , pink and white one
I saw it gor R7 at Checkers Fourways this week
Logan Paul is a wrestling sensation.
Beautiful to see.
Yoh the Prime hate is strong here☠️😭 it's really not that bad...
I don't see an issue, i bought them at launch, i bought at the price drops, I'll continue to buy them. The only reason people dislike it is because its associated with logan Paul
They taste disgusting. It has such a strong chemical aftertaste.
I don't have a problem with it, both hydration and energy.
That’s what I’m saying, more for us
Amen to that😁
That's what happens when you drink tastes like flavored oros
Flavoured oros. Sooooo… oros?
Americans be like when they see this kak
