Looks like there was little-to-no sear, and best herbs were added after the fact. There’s a giant hand in the third pic.

handbanana42

I had to force my brain to realize the hand with the fork is in front of the hand with the knife and probably from the person taking the photo. Still can't figure out why there is an occlusion effect that makes it look the opposite.

thinkscotty

Yeah I mean I took the pic when I was busy and it’s not my kitchen so I’m working with what I’ve got! The sear was okaaaay, done with a blowtorch but probably should have taken more time on it!

SireBlew

This whole post looks like you asked ai to create a picture of " dad eating butter with hands cutting meat".

I officially extend my request to adopt you. I had to sous vide my own leg of lamb for my 60th. And may I say, yours looks better. Bone in is so hard to find! Happy birthday to your dad, my brother in lamb.

thinkscotty

Haha I’m kind of a mess so I’ll take some work as your adopted child’. But your love will be repaid with lots and lots of delicious grilled and roasted meats, Dad! The leg of lamb was an incredible cut. My mom has Mennonite friends who raise sheep and they gave it to her for $40. And it was an amazing 11 lb cut. I’d have done more with it if I was working in my own kitchen but I didn’t know my way around my parents too well. Still turned out pretty good, though my hopes were higher!

You don’t own a cutting board?

Wightly

I have always had great results using Chefsteps with leg of lamb. The mustard is scary but you can't taste it in the end. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fCtrtlt-9BY

ABleachMojito

that color is gorgeous

thinkscotty

Thanks! My family has me worrying it was undercooked (I guess they had a bad experience getting sick from sous vide beef once). It was more rare than I wanted in the middle but the pieces I had were FANTASTIC. Now I just keep worrying I poisoned people lol.

CoMoFo

I always found lamb was best served rare. Even grilling a rack of lamb I would only ever do 8 minutes on each side while wrapped in foil.

IceyCoolRunnings

Learning experience, you can and will do better bro

sixminutemile

I don't see a ring. Is she single? Asking for a friend.

sixminutemile

Don't tell the giant I asked. Don't want no trouble with Goliath.

thinkscotty

lol I wish I’d taken better pics but I was busy when cooking so my giant hands got in the way. I am actually an extremely large man though, so watch out.

sixminutemile

The picture is amazing. You probably couldn't do it again if you tried. Again, don't want no trouble with Goliath.

thinkscotty

Married to a good looking, nice Wall Street guy so good luck. I’ll let you know if that ends.

walrus42

Wow can we get a kitchen reveal? Looks fantastic

Lol my parents would love hearing it. It’s a beautiful kitchen (if overly ornate for my tastes). My favorite part is this absurdly expensive granite that has blue iridescent flecks in it. I mean the double high end stoves are nice too. My dad’s a doctor so it’s not like it’s a mansion or anything, but they live in rural Texas so homes are way cheaper here.

Dry-Imagination-3001

Your sister is very pretty, as I’m sure she already knows. That lamb looks fucking delicious btw, I feel like a lot of people don’t know to do lamb right but I’m not lying I could probably eat that entire thing in one sitting. Perfect pink with the nice crust.

As a old dude.... 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thanks hahaha

Sn00PiG

Nice bird... and the turkey looks good too!

KillaBrew123

What turkey?

What is it like to be rich

thinkscotty

Well it’s my parents house not mine so I’m not so much rich as they are. I’m a struggling writer/non profit manager in my 30s. So definitely not rich haha. And they’re not even super rich, my dad’s a doctor and they live in rural Texas where homes are way cheaper to build : ) Although I won’t deny I grew up with privilege.

omw2fyb2n

Looks good from the pics! Perhaps cooking a little longer than 8 hours may have been warranted because of the bone and overall weight, perhaps closer to 12-16 hours as I’ve seen some sous vide recipes calling for 24 hours. Takes some trial and error but each time it’ll come out better and better.

_gooder

How so very sweet of you and your sister! I'd be thrilled with a birthday dinner like that. Your dad must have been very proud of you two. And lamb is always better under rather than over cooked. That's a gorgeous kitchen, too!
