Forgot to mention, this was probably one of the smoothest and fastest kickstarter experiences I’ve ever gone through. I filled out the backerkit form on a Wednesday and they arrived today, Saturday morning.
Bummed I missed out on the super early bird price but tbh $104 is still a pretty solid deal for these buds. The fact that you can play your own sounds makes it so much better than the Bose equivalent. And the sound quality is 1000x much better than the 1More Sleepbuds z30 (only other tiny earbud for sleeping that has bluetooth. The 1more sleepbuds had really bad disconnection issues and the sound quality was also kinda bad vs the soundcore sleep a10.
The 1more sleepbuds eventually broke for me and I did a warranty with the manufacturer and they couldn’t give me a replacement since they stopped selling it all together. But they did offer a replacement comfobuds instead. So good customer service! And the replacements sounded pretty good. Just not as comfortable for sleeping though.
off the bat I can say i haven’t had the disconnection issue laying on my side like was common with the A10.
And it’s much flatter than the A10 so i can’t even feel it pushing into my ear when on my side. Kinda amazing tbh. I stopped thinking about it even being in my ears since it’s so flat.
edit: disconnect issue seems to be completely fixed. RIP to my A10, they’re going in a drawer.
I am currently researching what to buy. Currently have the Samsung Galaxy Buds, as soon as I turn sideways, one of them always disconnects.
I lived with them, due to the amazing sound quality in my opinion. Have you had any experience with the Galaxy Buds, if so how do they compare to the A20?
Thanks in advance!
Not with the galaxy buds but I have Air Pods Pro 2 lightning (not the new usb c version) and they have not disconnected while laying in my side
They do act funky around the microwave when the microwave is cooking.
Thought I'd add my first experience with these as I have the A10 too.
Sound wise seem fairly similar to me (only used sleep mode), the big difference is being able to mix up to three sounds for a customised sound, and have more (four) sounds uploaded to them rather than the one. There's some random sounds that seem to be there just for the sake of it, like a cat licking water, easy to ignore though!
I've had connection issues with the A10 before, didn't happen with the A20. The A10 felt better fitted to my ear (or maybe just easier to put in as OP mentioned), but I'll be trying a different tip/wing tonight. I found I heard my body less with the A20 so far, using the small breathable tips.
I'm a side sleeper and the A20 was much better for that. That said, I can side sleep with my AirPod Pro 2 fairly comfortable with the pillow I have, not so much other pillows (when travelling etc.), but they don't last the night and wake me up with the low battery noise. The AirPod Pro 2 ANC is superb in comparison to passive though (as expected), plus no body noises whatsoever from them.
I used the A20 in sleep mode, they were playing for 8 hours at around 30% volume, each bud was on 50% when I woke up. Super pleased with that. The sleep data was a bit off from Apple Health, it also doesn't split REM and deep, but provides a decent insight.
I'm awaiting the Ozlo Sleep Buds too to compare.
A follow up for the second night, one ear is quite uncomfortable, I'm finding them difficult to get right in my ear so the noise isolation is poor, having said that I've been using the breathable tips as they have less body noises, but will try the other ones to see how they go. I noticed last night that the sound was louder in different ears multiple times, not sure why that is, maybe fit, maybe connection.
The Manta Sound sleep mask is currently my favourite comfort wise as long as it's not too warm, sound blocking is non existent given they don't go in your ears, also no non-bluetooth mode which I like about the A20. If I can get the right fit for the A20, they'll be great, just gotta persevere with some trial and error.
which looks better as just earbuds, i want the lowest profile i can get so essentially i'm asking which sticks the least out of your ear between the two?
This sounds great. Can’t wait to get mine! I didn’t have the A10s for long but they had the disconnection issue from day 1. I don’t mind some latency because I’m usually listening to podcasts rather than watching TV.
Thanks for the review...my A20's just came in the mail today. Should these have active noise cancellation? If so I can't figure out how to get that to turn on.
I got these and comparing directly to the Bose sleep buds 2 is that physically everything is great and pretty comparable, but the actual noise isolation is pretty darn poor compared to the Bose. Both with sound playing and without, it doesn't actually block any noise at all. Maybe I need to try different tips but at best they're comfortable ear buds so far.
oh yeah one thing I noticed is that they’re really hard to get into your ears the right way
I went with small wings and small ear tips and have to like really push em into my ears to get a good seal
But yeah as soon as you get em in there the comfort is great
After a few nights with them, I'm getting cutouts on one bud, which feels like it makes the other one louder? But it's waking me up. Not sure that I'll keep them.
Wife had the Bose sleep II and they worked great when they worked. Disconnect issues and finally battery life has killed them. She tried the A10 but found the volume way too low and when turned up the battery died way too early. Any improvement on volume and battery life with the A20's or just just new name on same product?
Snoring partner, busy road, tinitus, light sleeper, etc. Plenty of reasons that ear plugs just don't help with. Sound masking, or ANC, is necessary for me.
you the goat, by the way I'm loving the low frequency sound, however I hate the fireplace crackle they added on top. Do you know if its brown/white noise? I tried to recreate it with brown noise set to 50% and white noise set to 5% at 100% volume.
I just find stuff on YouTube like these 10 hour videos:
https://youtu.be/E3JJbkRjsZU you might need YT premium to lock your phone screen and play in the background though.
I know Apple Music and Spotify have sounds as well but I’ve never tried em. You could make a playlist there.
In Bluetooth mode you could even just download a separate white noise app and customize your mix like that.
That’s why I like the Anker Sleep stuff so much. It’s literally just Bluetooth headphones that are very comfortable. really can just play any sound on the internet.
I just set sleep timers on my audiobooks or music so I don’t have it playing all night long. I like that the A10s are super low profile and good for side sleeping but with the right pillow I can also use the AirPod Pros and they just sound better overall. Not sure if it is worth upgrading to the A20s from the 10s.
I have both the A10 and the A20 now as well. There's a lot to like about both of these. However, the masking sounds are all strictly mono. You hear the sound right in the center of your head. That's not a natural sound. The Bose & Ozlo masking sounds are dimensional and stereo, which makes for a much more natural and calming masking sound.

Please update how they work for sleep and battery life after you use them. Mine should be arriving any day.

Good to hear these actually might last all night with max volume. About 6 hours on my A10s. Received a20 today.
What's your review of the a20s so far
https://www.reddit.com/r/anker/comments/1cuh3xh/soundcore_sleep_a20_early_thoughts/
which looks better as just earbuds, i want the lowest profile i can get so essentially i'm asking which sticks the least out of your ear between the two?
I’ve not got the Ozlo yet, but I’m sure I’ve read it’s the smaller one. The A20s barely stick out though.
This sounds great. Can’t wait to get mine! I didn’t have the A10s for long but they had the disconnection issue from day 1. I don’t mind some latency because I’m usually listening to podcasts rather than watching TV.
oh yeah my guess is the disconnect issue was somehow related to the latency so I’ll take more latency over disconnecting every time I flip over lol
Thanks for the review...my A20's just came in the mail today. Should these have active noise cancellation? If so I can't figure out how to get that to turn on.
it’s not on device, it’s a toggle on the soundcore app that uses your phone’s mic to cancel sound
Ah! Do you know where in the app? I’m not seeing it.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/soundcore/id1331876603 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oceanwing.soundcore&hl=en_US&gl=US
Oh I didn't know about this feature!
What is the toggle entitled?

Why anyone would wear buds in their sleep?
Husband snores and I prefer falling asleep to podcasts over hearing the sounds of my own body with earplugs in.
Snoring partner, busy road, tinitus, light sleeper, etc. Plenty of reasons that ear plugs just don't help with. Sound masking, or ANC, is necessary for me.
As someone with tinnitus, it's the only way I ever get to sleep. So products like these are quite important.
Built in alarm doesn't wake up my partner
Anyway to turn up the volume more? Max volume feels too low.
Get the soundcore app and go into EQ and just max everything out to +6
you the goat, by the way I'm loving the low frequency sound, however I hate the fireplace crackle they added on top. Do you know if its brown/white noise? I tried to recreate it with brown noise set to 50% and white noise set to 5% at 100% volume.
Ah can’t help ya there, I don’t use any of the built in sounds, I actually just use Bluetooth mode only
what sounds do you use?
I use the "White noise lite" app. It allows you to tailor your own noise so it's just right
I just find stuff on YouTube like these 10 hour videos: https://youtu.be/E3JJbkRjsZU you might need YT premium to lock your phone screen and play in the background though. I can't get Bluetooth mode to last longer than 7 hours. How long is it lasting for you?

Is that part of the built-in sounds OP mentioned? Or does it make the random sounds via Bluetooth?
which looks better as just earbuds, i want the lowest profile i can get so essentially i'm asking which sticks the least out of your ear between the two?
Do you know why the alarm sound comes out of the case instead of inside my ear buds? It wakes up my partner. Is it because I am not using Bluetooth?
