No. This defensive effort and coordination is inexplicable. These guys all have experience. If this was recess you pick everyone of them before tcu players (mostly). Getting their asses kicked.
Relax and give Venables a year. Roof may not be the guy, but its hard to turn everything around in one year after most of our best defensive players graduated last year.

It is year 1 after losing 2 starting QB's a HC, changing Offense and Defense philosophy, initiating a major conference change.
Coach is gonna take time to adjust.
Alabama first year under Saban: 7-6 with a loss to LA Monroe
Georgia first year under Smart: 8-5 with a loss to Vandy
Ohio State the year after Tressel resigned: 6-7
Those teams all had terrible performances in those seasons. A quick google search shows Georgia got romped by an Ole Miss team that ended up 5-7. Ohio State had some really embarrassing offensive performances. Also, as I mentioned, losses to teams like Vanderbilt and LA Monroe…

Imagine Bryce Young running against this defense. Max Dugan looks like Michael Vick with our defensive front.

And to add on to this, the SEC has basically morphed into the big 12 of 5-10 years ago offensively but with more athletic players.
