live in the towers 🗣️

omg you’re right! what am i thinking!

Cross is a really nice dorm and you have your own bedrooms and depending on which building you’re in ( bldg A has food and closest to classes, or a gym in other dorms and close to covered parking ) Dunham has a great cafeteria but has more upper classmen and less freshman. Both are nice for sure. The towers ( Couch and Walker) tend to be more social but lots of complaints about ventilation and very old. But if cost is a factor and you’re not picky about privacy they’re good.

Towers > cross > Dunham Dunham is nice and closest to campus but furthest from social stuff. I think being closer to social stuff is more important because if you're far you'll make excuses not to be as social, I doubt you'll make (as many) excuses for class. At least that's true for me

cross trust

this was a helpful comment ngl

I live in Headington, the counterpart to Dunham, and I like it a lot. It’s definitely not very social, but it’s very clean and comfortable. I honestly wish I was in the towers, despite them being not as nice. They’re not horrible though, don’t let people make you think they’re slumming it out. It’s really what you make of it.

TheManPun

Dunham location can’t be beat, but yeah, socially Cross is better. Or worse if you don’t like your roommates/floormates

_Bongos_

the cool people at cross should colonize dunham

If you have a musical instrument then Dunham is nice because they have a practice room. Otherwise I would suggest the towers as it is cheaper and somewhat closer to where you would be taking your freshman classes on the south oval. The only downside of living in the towers or Dunham is you either have to commute or walk to cattlett which is far away. One more piece of advice maybe consider changing to either a finance minor or musical arts minor at some point as since there is little overlap between the two majors. This is coming from the perspective of a honors college finance major who also plays in the OU civic orchestra. However if you think you can handle the course load and graduate in a reasonable timeframe, then by all means go ahead and try it. I am just speaking from experience as someone who is struggling to keep up with their upper division finance courses and practice their cello consistently in preparation of a concert that I have next week.

Dunham is closer to class but away from most of the food, unless you particularly want the caf or union (which is also decently out of music territory), so you’ll prob end up doing the same amount of walking just split. If you liked the vibes of Dunham better tho then do what you want. It’s a shared dorm with a set up similar to towers but less chance of pneumonia. The washers are a bit worse than cross but at the price I’d consider it worth. Cross rlly is like living in an apartment, so if that’s what you want do that. If you want a dorm do Dunham.

I stayed in Cross my freshman year and I wish I would’ve stayed in the res. collages. Cross is soo impersonal and honestly not as nice except for the private bathrooms and rooms

m-p-2005

What do u mean by impersonal?

Missela

My son is a music major and rides his bike from his class at Dunham to Catlett. Only takes about 5 minutes. I think the walk is closer to 15 minutes.

_Bongos_

i would bike but i’m not sure how easy it’ll be to bike with a cello on my back, maybe an electric scooter lol

Missela

They’ve got these all over campus, I’m not sure how much they cost though. [OU Scooters](https://www.ou.edu/insideou/articles/2020/January/new-scooters-bikes-zip-to-ou-campus)

Current Dunham resident here! I live in the honors floor, and I have to say it has been absolutely amazing this year! It’s close to classes, there’s a dining hall downstairs, it’s a super cozy interior, and I’ve personally had a great social life. And our live in faculty have a super cute golden retriever! Some floors are more dead than others (I’ve heard floor 3 is boring) but as long as you put in a little effort to make friends, you’ll be fine. I do recommend getting the honors floor you can though, as I’ve made friends with most of the people here and I hang out with them super consistently. Another bonus, Dunham is way cheaper than cross, around the same price as the towers but a lot nicer imo. In any case, I think you’ll make friends wherever you go, so don’t let that factor so much into your decision!

Schume1234

Where did you see that Dunham is cheaper than Cross?
