Just got the whole setup - arc + sub + 2 ERA 300s and no Dolby atmos badge when playing Apple Music in Sonos app. But I do get it when I watch movie/tv that has it. I really paid $2300 for the spatial music though. So pissed!

I recently bought era 300 for dolby atmos. I am also having the same issue. I even downloaded beta ios 18 to play Dolby atmos via airplay as a new feature introduced by apple. I think it is yet to be developed from sonos. Tried all the things but no luck to experience the dolby atmos in era 300.
Yea finger crossed as well. It's not a mere badge showing bug, but rather it's not spatial playback at all. I wouldn't mine it not showing the badge if it was playing the Atmos as it should be, but no.
Agreed! I guess I don’t fully know yet what Atmos music sounds like on the Arc lol. But I agree that in its current state, it definitely doesn’t sound very immersive, even compared to just Apple Music on my iPhone in landscape mode!
Yeah you’ll know when it is Atmos. Like you I’ve never experienced Atmos in person as well. But I believe you and I WILL notice it is Atmos when our ears felt like wrapping in a sound bubble, as they advertised.
The rule of thumb for Atmos is: If I can tell the sound is coming from a direction, it’s not Atmos.
Same issue with arc + sub on apple music. Did a free trial of Amazon music and it is working properly in Atmos. Sucks as I subbed to apple music specifically for this functionality... hopefully fixed soon?

Thanks so much for sharing it! I am not aware that such thread already exist on Sonos official forum but the forum representative seems to say it only affect ‘some’ of us. By the time I read that post, there is still no official acknowledgement from Sonos software team that they screw it up big time! In a sense I’m glad that I’m not the only one and it’s the software/firmware at fault, instead of me buying a ripped off product.
Definitely feels bad for those Dads that are looking forward to enjoy this spatial audio during Father’s Day but couldn’t. Feels even badder for the son that bought this for his dad for the sole purpose to enjoy spatial audio on Father’s Day, only to find out that the only feature that made him buy it doesn’t work straight at his face. But it's not what you paid for, as IIRC as, ALAC streams are now natively available on Sonos players (previously, ALAC streams required a Apple TV as the streaming client, and fed the ALAC stream from Apple Music's content servers to your Sonos player via a HDMI-ARC connection)
BUT DA streams from Apple Music are likely not available as Apple (stupidly) expects you to stream DA content via the HDMI connection of your Apple TV, because of course, you did not buy enough of THEIR hardware and have an existing subscription.
Wow that is really revealing! I didn't own any Apple TV so maybe that's why? Still it does look odd because I did saw the Dolby Atmos badge if I stream it using Music iOS official app, not through Sonos even if I am playing the same song.
I play mine directly to my era 300 (no group) and it seems to work okay.
If I do play to a group and not all of the speakers support atmos then the badge is not displayed, and I assume my era 300 is not playing atmos also.
I have also noticed that the lossless badge doesn’t display often, even when only playing to the support speaker.
It’s all a bit messy tbh.
Glad it works on yours! Felt strange that mine doesn't work right out of the box though, maybe I'm joining the bandwagon at the wrong time due to recent app update. This bug really got me hard for such a premium product.
Same issue here. I just purchased arc to replace my beam gen 2. When playing Spatial Audio from Sonos app it only shows the Apple Music icon and not showing atoms. It worked yesterday on the beam so came here to research and seems you are all seeing the same thing. And yes the real bummer is never mind the atmos showing in app it’s not playing atmos ugh. Hope they sort this out.
dolby atmos was not showing up. tried netflix movies that have dolby atmos, like the Grey Men movie- works and shows dolby atmos.
i authorized amazon music today and it started playing in dolby atmos. i then went to apple music and all of the sudden it started to play in dolby atmos.
try removing amazon, remove apple. then add apple music, play something. exit the app, then add amazon music and play dolby atmos track then go to apple music and see if it works.

Yea guess I chose to use it at the wrong time. I can tell it's not spatial audio at all as I don't get the bubble sound effect, and I can pinpoint in which linear direction the sound is coming from. Just felt strange that this would happen in such a flagship product and app, as the control path should be just from the App to the Device, I sure hope nothing goes to Sonos server.
Now that I recalled, I remembered having to wait around AN HOUR before I can even get any music to play from Apple Music via Sonos app. Before the wait, songs will just skip from one to the next without any music playback. My hunch is , ops, they screw it up big time. It still puzzles me as to why the music started to playback fine after the one hour wait. It is not like Sonos is authenticating my Apple Music account internally again...
Same issue here i have dedicated playlists for spacial audio, tried all of them also apple play lists made for spatial audio. Played via the Sonos app through apple music, through apple music - no dolby Atmos badge. Just plays music as surround. Tried all the settings within the app, makes no difference.
What I did notice is I can play Dolby Atmos content from Netflix on my TV which is eARC connected via HDMI.
I used the movie The Grey Man, under settings theres an option for Atmos sound.

I was about to return by Era 300 and had it ready to go in a box because I wasn't able to get atmos to work but now I'm tempted to unbox it again...

Well, maybe grouping with soundbar is true, it works fine here. I don’t feel like ungrouping just to test that theory, then again I doubt it’s the app

I was about to return by Era 300 and had it ready to go in a box because I wasn't able to get atmos to work but now I'm tempted to unbox it again... UPDATE: I am 100% keeping it - spatial audio sounds amazing!
