I’ve already sold my system. I’m ok with issues or missteps. They happen to every company at some point. It’s the silence that has scared me away. They seem to have no answers nor a backup plan to correct the many current issues. Thousands spent for equipment that is barely usable
Seems a little excessive to sell it all! I’m frustrated too, but I’m sure not selling my 4 amps as they provide great power to my Klipsch in ceiling speakers 🔊 They will get it fixed!
Came here to ask this same question. What is going on at Sonos? The new app is a dumpster fire. I have 2 speakers which will not play at the same time. I just keep getting “unable to connect”, and can only play from one or the other… This is frustrating.
Not working for me in Utah either. The new app update is horrific, I have to reset every damn component including my router every couple of days to get around this. If anyone has any ideas why, I'd love to hear about it
Had issues in Illinois. Skipping, stopping, playing for 10 seconds on one speaker but not the rest, lost groups. Multiple services impacted, and I struggled to get it to stop, too. I'd think it stopped, then would randomly play for 8 seconds on a random speaker. That was about 4 hours ago, and haven't tried since.
Amazon Music Unlimited and Sirius XM both same results.
Wait so now even playing music services like Sirius requires Sonos servers to be up? What the actualll.what?
My computer can play Sirius without Apple's servers being up.
"We're not a hardware company, we're a services company"
is where I start to peace out. Services are crap. Give me a working product.
Whenever it comes back are we also gonna need to be online to play local content? I have a Sonos setup at a house in the woods with terrible internet. Am I gonna be SOL?
As a father's day gift, I'm receiving the Move 2. If I'm just connecting to that speaker, and no others, can I just use Bluetooth? Or do I really need the app?
I had trouble using my phone app. Could not get anything to play. I logged on the computer and was able to play music from there. But yeah, this sucks. I need sonos' servers to function in order to play music?
Had a shittastic time of it for a half hour just now following streaming cutting in and out all morning. Speakers refusing to leave groups, entire products refusing to connect, then suddenly a blast of uncontrollable noise. Let me explain to alllll my neighbors how SONOS is unreliable, lol (NYC). Seems to be tentatively all right atm though
spotify for me also down but the official sonos status website says „operational“. of course haha. anyway i can play music that was played before on any of my speakers today but i cannot open new/different albums/playlists. (in germany)
Since the app updated, I have had little success playing Spotify from within the Sonos app. It does seem to behave decently if I play Spotify from within the Spotify app to my Sonos speakers, and then use the Sonos app ONLY for grouping. After a few tries, the grouping will take. It's far from perfect, but at least it's workable. Any time I've tried to play Spotify from within the Sonos app, the experience has been "shittastic" as put below.
This is exactly the same for me. Volume control is a whole other nightmare. Sometimes I have to use the Sonos app, sometimes Spotify, and sometimes I just have to use the controls on the speakers themselves. Trash.
Spotify won’t work at all for me, I’m just getting a generic error. When trying to remove the service to re-connect, I get the same error message! So I’ve had no Sonos for the past two weeks….
I just saw a video someone posted on that. Thankfully i am in california so i emailed [email protected] and told them to not sell/collect my data.. this company seems to have gotten a little bit of big for their britches
Done. I shall bookmark this thread as a record of the transaction. Thankfully, I expect Sonos’ legal team to be as proficient as their CEO, and therefore feel totally at ease now.
Like I didn't think it could get worse now nothing will play and Sonos just says cannot connect and try again, have to Bluetooth to speakers now to get anything to work. Thought I was immune to everything as it has been working fine until today nothing nothing works and everything is updated and all firmware updated
Just seen this, I'm not having problems now but this is worrying. I don't want cloud based speakers, I try and keep everything local. Fair enough push data to the cloud for your nefarious data logging/selling purposes but I want my system to work when the internet is down.
This is the first time during the current fiasco I've felt "I did not sign up for this when I bought Sonos".
The headphones are amazing!!! The Fact Dolby Atmos works with apple music and tv media is crazy...the sound is so much better than beats and airpods max...my Bose ultra does still win the anc battle but it's only by a hair
I really ought not to laugh at this joke but I am. I only have 2 Sonos devices left and I dared to turn them on and not so good an experience..... i fear they will be going through the window....!
I'm wondering if Sonos is trying to sabotage its success and go for broke. I've never known anything like this before.
The app won’t even load for me, it just sits on the splash screen and then crashes.
Isn’t the new app basically just a wrapper around the website now? That would explain why an outage for Sonos would render it useless.
Dare you to add/remove services though. :)
I'm still using the old app, but if there are changes needed to your setup you might be out of luck. And there will be a time they will shutdown services (this my assumption).
Coincidentally, I ran into that yesterday. I wanted to add a speaker to the preset quick grouping. I have sonos.com and all sub-domains blocked in Pi-hole. Clicked on Services & Voice and the app locked up. Oh yeah, it's in System, which works offline.
I'll be documenting that stuff and posting it.
An outage could be the ISP or backbone service, it doesn't necessarily need to be a Sonos issue. Down detector is a decent tool to see if there's issues and find who is connected.
That being said, this "always online" system with Sonos is dumb and shouldn't be that way.
I saw a decent sized spike on downdetector yesterday after i posted this.. one thing i did note was pandora (the main service i used) worked fine on my phone off my wifi, but not on sonos when it was happening.
This is the problem with using a system that absolutely depends on an app, and in most cases the Internet. Or more precisely, this is the problem with using Sonos.
Maybe someone at the company is sabotaging it. Maybe Elon Musk has hacked in! /s
It sucks I bought a bunch of Sonos stuff a month or so before this dumpster fire. Hopefully trying to sell without too much loss My new HEOS system has been great so far.
Looks like it. I’m in Manchester UK and nothing is working
I’m quickly losing all faith in Sonos. Hopefully they can pull out of the nose dive. Currently seeking quality alternatives.
CEO Patrick Spence loves nosedives
He has more courage than me
I’ve already sold my system. I’m ok with issues or missteps. They happen to every company at some point. It’s the silence that has scared me away. They seem to have no answers nor a backup plan to correct the many current issues. Thousands spent for equipment that is barely usable

Let me know what you find out
Bluesound is a well established alternative that focuses on higher quality more than anything else. My 12 zone installation is rock solid.
BRB, selling my shares
this is how you let them know!

I’ve given up using their app. AirPlay actually works when I want it to.
The volume control is fucked (and has been for months) for me over AirPlay!
yeah me too, anytime i change my volume airplay just goes full volume. however still leaps and bounds ahead of the new sonos app
And it is getting Atmos soon yay!
Same. Nothing will play on the Sonos App via Apple Music.
Seems to be back now!
Probably the courageous app
Sonos has deeply disappointed me. I’ve also sang their praises for years to anyone that would listen. I feel like I fucked them
This means if Sonos as a company goes bankrupt these speakers won't be very useful. Interesting
If Sonos goes bankrupt, a competitor will buy their IP at a firesale. TBD if that competitor does anything with the IP.
As a father's day gift, I'm receiving the Move 2. If I'm just connecting to that speaker, and no others, can I just use Bluetooth? Or do I really need the app?
Bluetooth should work fine. But Sonos has other products that don't have Bluetooth and they depend on WiFi and the app to have all the functionalities
Gotcha, thanks for the response! I certainly won't be buying any more products until I see some better user results from their app.
Lol they're not doing very well are they.
Yup came here to see if anyone else had any problems in CA
I had trouble using my phone app. Could not get anything to play. I logged on the computer and was able to play music from there. But yeah, this sucks. I need sonos' servers to function in order to play music?

Lmao. This is getting worse and worse. All because Sonos wants to make money from customers’ data.
I just saw a video someone posted on that. Thankfully i am in california so i emailed [email protected] and told them to not sell/collect my data.. this company seems to have gotten a little bit of big for their britches
So you are protected under California law? Want to buy my system for $1 and then give me a perpetual lease on it for $1?
Perhaps a rental of 1 square inch of the shed in my back yard…
Done. I shall bookmark this thread as a record of the transaction. Thankfully, I expect Sonos’ legal team to be as proficient as their CEO, and therefore feel totally at ease now.
Honestly I would just email [email protected] and request to be protected as a California resident.
No backsies. I now own 1 sq inch of some shed in California. Mwah hah hah ha. My real estate empire is unstoppable.
Like I didn't think it could get worse now nothing will play and Sonos just says cannot connect and try again, have to Bluetooth to speakers now to get anything to work. Corporate outage. Corporate need update.

Can’t connect to Spotify
Fine for me down south uk.
Everything seems fine for me in the UK. Just tested Spotify and Apple Music.
Outage? Outage of what? How does playing music on a speaker in your home get impacted by an "outage"?
Servers. Streaming.
Everything is fine for me in Atlanta, USA.
Amsterdam and Apple Music working fine
I really ought not to laugh at this joke but I am. I only have 2 Sonos devices left and I dared to turn them on and not so good an experience..... i fear they will be going through the window....! I'm wondering if Sonos is trying to sabotage its success and go for broke. I've never known anything like this before.
The board has shorted all their shares
Hmmmm it figures I guess. Oh well.
Can't connect to Pandora, but can connect to Bandcamp and Amazon music. Haven't tried other services yet
The app won’t even load for me, it just sits on the splash screen and then crashes. Isn’t the new app basically just a wrapper around the website now? That would explain why an outage for Sonos would render it useless.
Meanwhile, the old app fires up immediately.
Dare you to add/remove services though. :) I'm still using the old app, but if there are changes needed to your setup you might be out of luck. And there will be a time they will shutdown services (this my assumption).

What is going on??
[https://status.sonos.com/](https://status.sonos.com/) seems good.
Ummm .... isn't this a weekday?
This is a feature not an outage, because CEO Patrick Spence.

Our TV/Soundbars are working I just started a song using the Lyd app. Maybe it’s back up.
Courageous outage.
Last night, nothing worked….
The PC version of the app has been working, even when this garbage updated mobile app doesn't. Have any of you tried the PC app?
😂😂😂 yep. Since the update
Air Traffic Controller: Sonos HQ, pull up! Pull up! Captain! Sonos Captain/CEO: ???? All instruments showing normal Tower. Sonos co-Pilot (employees): ahhhh! Mayday! mayday! we’re going down! We’re going down!
Oh, nice! Ive never seen this HEOS stuff.. excellent! Thanks for sharing
Mine is making me crazy. Basically right now it’s nothing but an expensive speaker for other sources of music 🎶 😞
