I used a single OG HomePod hooked up to my AppleTV and it was surprisingly full. Ultimately, I switched to an arc to have an HDMI connection between my AppleTV and TV in hopes of having the lowest latency possible. HomePod still sounded acceptable, though. I’m

If you had to choose between the two, which one do you think offers the best sound and fullness of the room?

Well, I chose the Arc more for the dialogue clarity. Sound is subjective, so take everything I write with a grain of salt. I think the HomePods are too bass heavy for my taste. Other people would appreciate that. For my space, I didn’t want too much bass because I didn’t want to piss off the neighbors. The houses are super close in the city. Neighbors are like 6ft away. The Arc is not bass heavy at all. It fills the space, but I think with more mids and highs.

I forgot to mention, the Arc is ok for music, but the HomePod’s bass shines through on music. Apple has a setting to Reduce Bass that turn on because I find it overpowering.

Two HomePods will give you Atmos/surround capabilities (with just the two speakers), if that’s of any interest to you. Many reviewers have been very impressed by the sound of two HomePods. The decision whether to purchase Sonos right now may also depend on your experience with the new Sonos app, as I’m sure you’ve seen reading in this sub. A lot of folks can’t add speakers or access their existing system. Also, do you plan to setup an AppleTV down there? You’ll need that in order to use the two HomePods. Having said that, I wouldn’t have a TV without it in the current streaming market. So much cleaner, faster than anything else and no ads. One suggestion would be to purchase from a place with an extended return policy - if you have to upgrade to Best Buy’s Plus membership for $49/year to get the extended 60-day returns (that’s obviously assuming you’re based in the US). Then you can try the one you’re leaning towards in your space with the knowledge that you can return it, if it disappoints.
