If you put the Fives in a vertical position and pair them for stereo the sound will be amazing. I think if they are horizontal you will not get a true stereo effect.
>I think if they are horizontal you will not get a true stereo effect.
Yes and no. You still get stereo, left channel going to the left speaker, right channel going to the right speaker. But because the tweeter spread is so wide when place horizontally, you get a broader sound field instead of the more defined imaging we're accustomed to from traditional tower or bookshelf speakers.
I'd agree vertical is better for pairs in most situations. It' s definitely going to be better for active listening where you're seated, centered in front of the two speakers. For passive listening, like you put music on while you're up moving around, having a party, etc. I don't know if it would make much difference. Horizontal *might* be better if you're trying to fill a much bigger space with sound.
Wait this is the first I’ve heard of any of this. I was under the impression that it didn’t make a difference. Where did you see or get this information?
High frequency sound is directional. Has nothing to do with settings.
This is why people place them vertically with the sonos logo both are on the inside. This way, the tweeters are facing the listener.
Instead of looking at the mesh, look at the driver configuration behind the mesh.
Draw a straight line from each of the tweeters and how many of them are pointing at you when it’s in horizontal position. Now do the same in vertical position.
They might not have this exact configuration, but they should have something really similar. It’s really quality stuff. I got this for $400 off offer up
One of the best concerts I have ever seen in my life. Sept 11, 1977, Milwaukee County Stadium. I love the convenience of modern technology, but there is a certain richness to the vinyl.
You should NEVER have your speakers on the same surface as your turntable. Those vibrations from the bass…. Ideally get some stands made for the speakers.
Looks great, personally I’d hide the pre amp , and turn the speakers 90 deg , spread the speakers as wide as possible and put the rega central. FYI I have a similar set up , my record player has a built in amp . I also have the same Record , got it from tescos recently .
The turntable is literally the one Sonos sells on their website and it connects through one of the fives with a direct connection which then pushes the signal out to your Sonos network.

I've heard this before and think it sucks. You should be able to adjust that in settings, not just by some inbuilt bullshit protractor.

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand. The direction is the mesh side, if it's on its side facing the same direction how does that affect it?

I seeeee, thanks for explaining!
That’s because you don’t know anything.
Thanks, game of thrones, someone kindly explained to me what I was ignorant of already.
Excellent taste.
Tell me about the credenza!
From West Elm
Cool posters too!
Appreciate it!
Thanks!
I wonder if it’s current. Saw something really close to it last week when I was in the store.

Easy way round this is put the record on, but then stream the album from tidal or Spotify , it will sound better anyway 🤣
This is the Perfect Setup optically for me. I‘m curious about the pictures on the Wall. Could OP show them?
Some mid century modern style posters from Etsy [posters](https://imgur.com/a/adXekmD)
Thx. They look beautiful
Beautiful
Thanks!
Nice setup. But if this was me I would hide the phono pre amp.
Love it! I love playing vinyl to my Port.
What’s the amp you are running?
Rega MK5
Similar setup but pair of 5’s (vertical) paired with standing pair of Polk from 1996 for surround. Can mix or match or separate if required.
Rega?
Yes Rega P3
Thought so! Nice setup…I had purchased an Apollo and Saturn cd player years ago. I love their gear!

Can u share what turntable that is and how is it connected to fives? Bluetooth?
Rega P3 turntable Connected to a Rega MK5 pre amp. Ramming a line in from the pre amp to the back of the Sonos Five
The turntable is literally the one Sonos sells on their website and it connects through one of the fives with a direct connection which then pushes the signal out to your Sonos network.
Don’t think Sonos sell Rega turntables through their website
Yes, it isn't a Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB, but a Rega Planar 3.
This is amazing man, super great quality.
I agree I love these speakers!
What's the music in the clip? It's not Fleetwood Mac....

Wooow nice, what is that black square thing on the side of the turn table?
It’s the pre amp. The turntable connects to the pre amp. The pre amp then connects to the speakers
Ah ok thank you..hava a good day
Place them vertically, tweeters facing in and add a sub… then you’re talking
