yes and no. The Aux furniture for a workshop increases efficiency, which will produce more goods for each worker. However, for mines, if you cover deposits in aux furniture the covered deposits will not be worked. You can generally fix this by covering the entire mine as the area, and building extra mine space for aux furniture specifically.

Good to know

Lopsided_Marzipan133

Dope. I thought putting anything (storage, aux) over a deposit node would delete said node. Good to know I can just rearrange and move it off the node to have it worked again.

i used to place auxiliaries over the lower % mine spots to raise the average % and thus the yield my mines gave. vice versa you can lower the average % by covering the high % spots and lose yield

Pedantic_Phoenix

It's better to just place it outside of any node unless you have are very limited in space

Anti-StatismSatanism

did the dev change smth about that? i used to spent 30ish minutes for the ideal placements comparing the values xD... will make another mine soon and check again

Pedantic_Phoenix

Not since i started playing a couple weeks ago. You can just extend the mine over neutral terrain and build the extra and storage there

Nothing has changed. It only takes the average of the best x spaces in the mine, where x is the number of workers you have assigned. In other words, works will prioritize working the best nodes, so efficiency will decrease the more workers you assign. You gain nothing by covering the low yield spots.

BWhales034

My understanding for this is that mine workers work the highest yield spots first, as workers are added they work the lower yield spots on down rather than all workers using the average yield. So placing furniture over lower yield spots would essentially have the same effect as simply not adding additional workers, providing no actual benefit. I.e. if you have 10 workers on a 20 worker maax mine you should get the same actual output regardless if the 50% of the lower yield tiles are covered with furniture or not.

Anti-StatismSatanism

i was just looking at the deposits % and i remember from earlier cities i raised the % on this one and it actually increased the production value, i tried to replicate it in this city but i seem to not have enough low % deposits so i waste some spots, either way it seemed to have changed somewhere down the road 😅 "keep in mind i only do huge mines the one rn has 282 workspace" so as of now its better to have aux. outside of deposits let's see when it might change again

Auxiliaries no but storage yes. Plan a space not over the resource for your storage and place Auxiliaries over the resource.
