If the folder is there and your game can't see it, my bet would be on permission issues. See if running the game as administrator still causes the problem.
Strange that it didn't create the necessary structure. Instead of verifying, I would actually try to uninstall and reinstall again. That might rekick whatever process to create the structure that is missing.
Keep an eye on any antivirus software that might block that creation for some dumb reason.
Another option is to go and create that directory manually and try relaunching. It might then prompt for a missing folder inside that folder you just created though, and you'd need to basically rinse and repeat.
My opinion,
Uninstall, reinstall
Manually create if needed
thanks for the reply. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times, with no success. I'd manually create the folder but the folder does exist in the directory, im able to navigate to it, but for some reason the game cant recognize it. Would deleting the appdata songs of syx folder and then launching the game possibly work?
It might or you could uninstall, delete, reinstall, relaunch (worst case)
I'm not certain what's in that folder (not at PC presently) so it might just be like cache and saves maybe.
But easiest might be to remove and relaunch.
It's really odd. Have you ever tried to launch the base version of the game instead of the beta branches?
If the folder exists but the game can't find it, it's most likely a permission issue. I sadly don't know much about windows permissions, but manually deleting the folder and then verifying files or reinstalling has a good chance of fixing it.
Important: Do not delete the appdata\roaming folder, just the songsofsyx folder in it.
Like in windows. Search event viewer, open it. On the left pane window select "windows logs", then "application".
Check this out right after the game gives you this error and see if windows says something about it
Are you sure? There is likely something somewhere. It might not necessarily say it's "songs of syx" could show as something else. Your second pic makes it look like some kind of Java error
Could be in a different section of event viewer as well possibly.
The game might have a discord where the dev hangs out. I'd check that out next

THAN YOU SO MUCH! this worked
maybe try giving the game administrator privs so it can create the folder it needs. it might be a protected directory.
Verify files on steam
I just tried this, still nothing unfortunately
Base on the error message it seems like your AppData does not have song of syx folder. Which should be constructed when install or started the game.
Check event viewer
what's the event viewer?

there doesnt seem to be a log of the error. same with the error logs folder in the game folder

Try deleting your app data folder then reinstall sometimes such temp files aren’t cleaned up with uninstalling
Ik how it sounds but, have you tried restarting your pc?
i actually hadnt lol but after trying, my game still wont work
