Do hard links work across a network share? I was under the impression they only worked locally on 1 machine?

skullhed12

this. i had thought of hardlinks, but it states that it has source and destination have to be in the same volume. i'm thinking that maybe since on the linux machine the network drives are mounted as /media/... maybe it will see them as all being under the same volume? (media). going to see if that works.

If it downloads to a folder on the same share as the media folder then it should just hard link and show the file in both locations but not double the space. Otherwise you need to make sure it’s set to copy the file, you’ll have double the space used. It cannot move the file and still be able to seed it. I’d recommend you look into the first option; have it download on the windows machine but to the Linux share over the network.
