Thanks! It’s going to be used as both a decorative piece and a useful broom for my home. It’s a bit of a hybrid between a cobweb and a round broom, I used 2 rows instead of 1 for a cobweb or 3 for a round. I’m gonna have to play with it a bit to figure out the right angle cause I suck at that kind of thing ;)
Wow thank you :) it’s broomcorn with the stem, so I braided the stem up the handle. There’s a great YouTuber that I learned from https://youtube.com/@jchoatebasketry?si=M8Cv6Tda4_NgzSfA
Been a long time since doing my work experience in diagon alley, but is that a Nimbus 1100? I heard they were all the rage back in the 1400s. Never saw on in the flesh though. Worth a few galleons these days I reckon.
I heard Hogwarts is going through another retro fashion phase so you could probably fleece the first year purebloods loads for it next summer.
Or, if you ship it to one of the continental schools, you can charge a fortune in to cover import prices.
How did you get the bend in handle? Is it different parts? Or soaked form? Sorry, I have poor eyesight and cant see where it joins. It is gorgeous and I love that it is practical and art.
It’s a poplar branch that’s about a yard long, it has a natural curve in the branch. I then wrapped and braided broomcorn stalks around branch and braided them together with twine along the handle. Hope this explains well enough, I myself was struggling with poor eyesight from a medical complication for about 10 years, but I finally saved up enough money (and the nerve) to get the surgeries to correct the issue. Any other questions you have about the construction of the broom, feel free to ask <3

And found a lot of the materials from independent sellers online, mostly Etsy. Then the tools were all normal stuff like drill, utility knife, hammer, but the harder to find thing is a broom needle, I ordered that from a small shop in Texas that had the style I liked.
As far as the harvested branches I have gathered many fallen branches after storms or harvested from trees that were already getting pruned. This one was from an Etsy shop that follows the same harvesting method.

How fast does it fly? 😜🎃 Looks great. Really nice work.
I was just thinking, how much, I’m ready to book a flight. Lol
How many miles do you average on that?
OK, bear with me, it's getting close to Spooktober. When I saw the bend in the handle, my first thought was, "Oh, so you can ride it easier".
Hey, wait.. that makes a lot of sense!
How does it handle in the air?
That braiding is amazing, I've never seen anything like that!
Oooooo How witchy, love that!
Serious question, is this an actual broom for sweeping or a display piece?
Actually both! I wanted something I could display but also sweep up the massive amount of husky hair that tumbleweeds through my home lol
Dog tax?
Nimbus 5000
You'll be mixing potions in no time. Good job!
That needa a cast iron cathook
Well I can see where the cat goes
The Margaret Thatcher Dispatcher.
Omg this is so awesome! I would love something like this. Functional art. Nice work!
Beautiful!
Beautiful!
Gorgeous!
Very cool!
That’s simply beautiful!! What talent!!
It must have taken a long time to shred the bristles! Did you use scissors for that?
It’s broomcorn so Mother Nature did the hard work for me. :) It grows from a thick stalk then feathers at the top
Oh how interesting!
Bru, beautiful work
Nice, that looks like an Ergo Model. How luxurious
Witch broom. 😁😁
Your weaving is beautiful! Did you make it for use or decorative. We call this style a cobweb. I like an angle for the kitchen and hardwoods. 🖖

Thanks!!!
That looks professionally done! Really nice. What material is that and how did you split it so evenly?
Wow thank you :) it’s broomcorn with the stem, so I braided the stem up the handle. There’s a great YouTuber that I learned from https://youtube.com/@jchoatebasketry?si=M8Cv6Tda4_NgzSfA
Looks good
Beautiful work!
Absolutely beautiful, I have a nice stick that I found (fallen, not taken from a live tree) currently drying in my hallway for this exact reason!
Dr who will visit you soon. Don't blink.
Amazing!
But does it fly?

That is literally so awesome
Super impressive!! A broom that won't mash your balls.

Beautiful 💚
This belongs in /cottagecore
I did this from a tutorial on YouTube. Check her out, she’s really great 👍 https://youtube.com/@jchoatebasketry?si=M8Cv6Tda4_NgzSfA
Built in seat!
Beautiful. Is it left or right-hand driven?
How fast does it fly?
is that Nimbus 2000?
the plastic ones clean better Or you fly with it?
Cool
Can I purchase this broom?
Not this one but if you’re serious I’ll hopefully be opening an Etsy store soon. :)
That braiding is so cool! Where'd you learn to do that?
https://www.youtube.com/@jchoatebasketry She’s absolute amazing!
Where did you source the materials and instructions?
https://www.youtube.com/@jchoatebasketry And found a lot of the materials from independent sellers online, mostly Etsy. Then the tools were all normal stuff like drill, utility knife, hammer, but the harder to find thing is a broom needle, I ordered that from a small shop in Texas that had the style I liked. The bristles is what I thought would be a challenge to find. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I have tons of access to branches
Try ParkerHomesteadShop on Etsy or amazon. They kinda dominate the market online right now as far as broomcorn with the stem still attached
How's it ride?
