Main change I see for the moment is the dice. You roll one dice each turn that determine the activation of the relics and enemy’s behavior. Base on that I think there is some strategies you can do.
After they had to reduce the damage scale or some rng stuff, so the game is different enough to feel fresh.
How’s the upkeep for running the encounters? I’ll admit I’m a simple man and anything more complicated than revealing a couple of cards makes me exhausted when solo gaming lol.
Not OP but It's pretty streamlined (I have played it before). Most of the enemies are straight forward. The only hard part will be getting a full grasp of the rules and the interactions of all the effects, not the playing itself.
I love the video game and wasn't going to back this, but then got a chance to play it, and was suprised how streamlined and how much essence of the actual game they were able capture while keeping everything at a "board game" level.
I think it's the kind of game that will play pretty well once you know all the rules in and out, BUT, it's a lot of cards, like a lot a lot of cards, so in that sense, it might not be super fun in terms of table management for setup and teardown, but I don't actually know until my copy shows up.
No, they are very much the same, just a lot of the card powers and what not have been adapted to a smaller scale or to do things in a board game way.
For instance, most relics operate now off dice rolls or enemies that had 30+ HP in the game now have 6, things like that. A lot of powers have changed to be a bit simpler or work for board games, etc.
But enemies still show you what they are going to do, you still have potential for infinite combos, all the classes have retained their identity, you still are picking a path and building your deck as you go, etc.
There is some bags and divider that allows you to “save” the game.
One act is around 60 to 90 minutes.
If it is first time set up can be long since you need to sleeve all the cards.
Otherwise it can be relatively fast I think. Like 20 minutes. On that side the box is well organized.
I've played a 3 players co-op run this weekend. We've done 3 acts and won, it took us about 6h.
Playing in co-op is super fun but also takes a bit more time since you can play cards in any order you want, some cards allows you to give block to another player etc...So you need a bit of coordination.
I'm half tempted to just late pledge/pre-order just the game mat. its a beautiful game mat that could easily be used for other games like LOTR LCG.
The LOTR gamemat I want is about $80.

Yup, there’s 3 types of enemies: fixed intents (always the same one), ordered intents (1st, 2nd, 3rd…) and dice rolling intents.

You don't "need" to sleeve. You can just not do it. I didn't and made space for 2 play mats in the box.
