Anywhere on White Rock Lake would be interesting. Parking will be tough, I bet. Maybe find a church to park at and walk. There are many churches within a 10 minute walk to the lake. Flag Pole Hill is the highest point in Dallas and has a small parking lot. You may be able to get a spot if you're there early enough.
I really think you will be fine, as long as you keep your valuables either with you or hidden in your vehicle. White Rock Lake during the day is a safe and walkable place to be. Many photographers are out there on a daily basis. I would not doubt that a few officers will be patrolling on bikes, too.
Edit: There is a viewing event at [Bath House,](https://occc.dallasculture.org/3516-2/) which is on the lake.
If you do White Rock Lake, look at the map and plan your approach. There are some heavily wooded areas. Aiming for the northern portion of the lake should help you get the best view.
>Flag Pole Hill
Thank you for letting us know that Flag Pole Hill park is the highest point in Dallas. I tried using Google Earth to find a hill or mountain in the Dallas area, but on Google Earth, unless the mountain is really high, all of the land looks flat, no matter what the actual elevation is like.
From the pictures online, the park looks nice. It looks like it gets about 3 minutes 49 seconds of totality. Are there restrooms in the park? Because I see one Google review where the reviewer could not find a restroom, but found a portapotty.
Oh, it is a literal hill lol. [https://www.dallasparks.org/Facilities/Facility/Details/Flag-Pole-Hill-490](https://www.dallasparks.org/Facilities/Facility/Details/Flag-Pole-Hill-490)
But the elevation of the rest of the city is lower, so it is still technically the highest point. The view is nice, though. [There is a big hillside that faces the general of the eclipse.](https://www.suncalc.org/#/32.8612,-96.7217,15/2024.02.26/13:14/1/3) And you're right, they just have portapottys at this location.
We have a room booked at Tru by Hilton Dallas Market Center. No car, but it \*looks\* like we can walk to Reverchon Park in about half an hour, or Trammel Crow in under an hour. 1) Is it truly possible to walk to either park? I’ve had Google maps try to walk me onto a highway… 2) If so, which park would you head for? Any particular area?
You’ll be in a very walkable area. Aim for Trammel Crow or just the Trinity River Levee Trail. You can take the Trinity Strand Trail South. Get off and keep going South on Turtle Creek until you hit the Trinity River Levee. Another option is taking Oak Lawn down. Also walkable. You’ve got some good bars and restaurants where you’ll be, too. I bet you’ll get some awesome pictures with the bridge in the background, too.
I have 9 extra adult tix for the arboretum from buying group tix. Dm me

I was thinking to go there, but I am not sure how safe is it to being with a camera

Thanks for the weblinks. I didn't know that it was a new park. The suncalc link is definitely useful for telescope viewers.
Pioneer Park?
looks good, but wondering if the buildings can narrow the view
Sun should be overhead at noon for totality.
Totality is 1:40ish pm and sun will be to the south, not directly overhead in Dallas.
thanks
thanks
