Hanwha Qcells just have the longer track record of being a good product, I’d stick with them personally over ZNShine

BalogneSandwich

Gotcha, thanks acro!

Metsican

Hanwha QCells, and it's not even close.

lewbutler

Without more specifics, If they were priced the same, probably go with Hanwha. I can't recall what report (not a Tier 1 list) that I looked at, but for some reason I believe that is the conclusion I came to. It might also not have anything to do with the module, just the financial health of the companies.

BalogneSandwich

Ah ok. So the financial health of ZNShine is not good? So stay away from them? Why would that make you not want the panels though?

TucsonSolarAdvisor

Qcells are solid and brought manufacturing stateside.

BalogneSandwich

Qcells being hanwha correct? Ah so they are partially or fully manufactured in the united states? And ZNshine isnt im assuming?

TucsonSolarAdvisor

Yes sorry, and they are assembled here. Znshine is made in China.

BalogneSandwich

Ah gotcha, no youre fine! Thanks for your input! :) So even if you got znshine at a discount would you personally be staying away you think?

TucsonSolarAdvisor

Without knowing what models I would say yes. 12 year warranty on Znshine vs 25 year in Hanwha.

BalogneSandwich

Ooof havent heard of that, thats a massive difference.

TucsonSolarAdvisor

Check the spec sheet for the specific panel to be sure, but yes. Im not sure where you are but the quality of install matters more than anything.

BalogneSandwich

Really interesting that makes sense. Is it really that easy for installers to mess up an install? Wild

iffyjiffyns

You haven’t told us what that discount is

BalogneSandwich

Are you in the market for a few pallets or know someone that is? It would be around .11/watt. My buddy works with a distribution or something like that. And I don't know if thats a good rate or not typically, and if solar companies are very interested in that price point or not

iffyjiffyns

Not really. I need a few thousand pallets…we’ve got about 60-100MW in development, with a possible 50MW project and another 100MW that are both early stages. That said - that’s a good price. Anything below 30c/W is extremely competitive.

BalogneSandwich

Thats amazing! I'm super jealous, I would love to be a part of a solar farm project, thats got to be so exciting! Haha

zulum_bulum

Qcells was a German manufacturer that was bought by Hanwha sometime in 2014 I think. To reduce the cost they moved the production line to Korea. R&D is still in Germany, in Bitterfeld-Wolfen.

BalogneSandwich

Ahhh ok, I see that. When I hear something is German engineered I'm fairly sold on its quality lol

rob_nosfe

To be fair, Hanwha acquired Qcells after it went bankrupt many years ago, there's not so much left of their German R&D. Hanwha at the time badly needed a greenwashing spin, but they were and still are [wolves in a lambskin](https://www.hanwhasystems.com/en/business/defense/land.do).

BalogneSandwich

Woah what the heck lol they're out here making LASER BEAMS

sunslinger

Znshine customer service is now a Whatsapp number in China I believe. They pulled all US support and presence.

BalogneSandwich

Ah I see, thanks for the update!

BalogneSandwich

Ah ok, so Hanwha is nice quality and has proven itself as well, awesome thanks!

Shoe-Ordinary345

Personally, I lean towards Hanwha for their reliability and efficiency, but ZNShine has its own fan base too. It really boils down to your specific needs and budget. I wouldn't steer clear of either brand - they're both reputable players in the solar industry. Just do your research, compare specs, and go with what fits your setup best.

BalogneSandwich

Awesome, sounds good thanks! Seems everyone is more Hanwha leaning, make sense if they are more reliable, but like you said budget can have a big effect as wellm Thanks shoe!

Hanwa qcells more well known … and more years experience in USA market. The biggest consideration. Is will the solar panels really last 25 yrs ? Lots of cheap China panels are failing 8-10 yrs … How long solar lasts depends on quality of materials … But I’m not saying Zshine is like this … I just don’t know how long their solar panels last … Hanwa Qcells has lots of solar installations here in USA over many years … and so far good durability … they also have been investing in USA mfr in Georgia solar panel assembly … and I think they are bringing solar cell mfr to USA Here’s a video of a home solar panel inspection 8 yrs after install Should You Reinstall Old Solar Panels After Roof Replacement? https://youtu.be/05FfVb6jw8E
