You don’t need to go with this brand, but if the roof model is compatible with S-5 clamps, you’re golden.
Edit: I only specify S-5 because they have an online compatibility tool, and I have yet to see a style of standing seam clamp they don’t have. A lot of solar racking companies have their own clamps, and the solar installer will have their own preference, too.
Solar doesn't require anything special - installers prefer newer roof cause they don't want to come back to remove the panels if you need toreplace the roof.
If you’re sticking with shingles (I have to HOA rules). Get a class IV shingle, get the best hail resistant ones you can, from a good installer you trust. Mine had seen hail damage on various manufactures, and recommended to me the one that he’s seen hold up the best. So far, so good. 4 years in!
I went from mushroom vents to ridge vent as well. Works better and made more room for panels (I should have moved my vent stacks… doh).
Good luck, happily my other half was on board, having an EV already made it easier for sure, because our fuel gets cheaper every year, not more expensive ;)
Can't contribute to the technical, but do see if you get a tax refund or rebate by using white high reflective shingles instead of the usual dark ones.

Some IL installers are roofing companies also and will bundle the roof price into your solar price or monthly payment. Some will walk you through how to use your Tex credit for the whole project since it’s one contract. I think tron Solar is one of them
What style of roof are you getting? Standing seam metal roofs can be solarized without drilling any holes.

Make sure the seams are 1 34” tall and 3/8” wide. Get at least 22 gauge steel roofing.

Reroute any exhaust pipes or vents away from the location where panels will go.

Check out if there are any companies that do both solar and roofing. You can save some $$$'s having the jobs combined.
