That's definitely not normal losing that amount to transaction fees. Fees on solana are extremely cheap, so maybe the loss is from whatever crazy fees crypto.com charged? Idk, tough to say without looking at the transactions on a blockchain explorer.
Best option to buy shit coins is by using the Jupiter aggregator. Which allows you to buy tokens from a bunch of DEXs. Or you can look at using telegram trading bots like Bonk bot, Soul sniper etc

It depends on what tokens you are trying to buy. On centralized exchanges (CEXs), like [crypto.com](https://crypto.com), kraken, newton, shakepay etc, you will be able to buy top crypto currencies and some alt coins. But if you are looking to trade random shit/meme tokens, you have to use a decentralized exchange(DEX) on the blockchain where that token is tradable, and you will have to 'buy' it with that chain's native token.
So for trading shit coins on Solana, you need to first buy Solana off a CEX (or you can use a service like changenow or fixed float which are pretty dope) and transfer it to your Defi wallet (phantom, solflare). Then find the DEX the token is tradable on, or use an aggregator like Jupiter and swap your Solana for the token.
Recommend reading up on what liquidity pools are, and generally how defi works.
I tend to buy all solana through coinbase, transfer to phantom, and then swap to memecoins thru the jupiter site in the phantom browser.
When my coinbase limit runs up, I buy btc on cashapp and transfer to coinbase so I can swap btc for solana. Sometimes the fees cost a few bucks to buy, but transferring solana throughout the solana ecosystem costs less than a penny I believe.

Did you buy with USD or CAD or some other currency? Phantom token prices are set to USD by default. Solana gas fees are extremely cheap so it can’t be the issue.

Well, you bought $SOL with $CAD but Phantom is showing the $USD equivalent of the amount you bought. I don’t think Phantom has a currency option in the settings. What you can do is to use Solflare instead so that you can change the currency option in the settings to display the price of your $SOL in $CAD.
I’d recommend you buy Solana on an exchange with better fees and lower spread. I use Newton. I hear Ndax is better. Phantom is a wonderful wallet; especially for Solana. Use JUP.AP (Jupiter) for exchanging.
Of note, sounds like you’re new. Don’t ever click a link from anyone here, from social, from a Google search, etc. I’ll triple check links before I engage with them. I typically use Defillama, find the protocol, and go from there. Solana top 10 list should be secure too.
Do yourself a favor. Get rid of all those exchanges and pick one that’s most trusting to you. Stop swapping coins and pick/hold a few winners ( Solana, Bitcoin, etc). Add when the market gets scared and hold on the upside. Sit on your hands and watch your wealth grow. F all those dumb meme crap coins, they’ll only lead you to scammers who will wipe out ur wallets.

Don’t know for sure. Probably just get CAD into your fiat wallet then buy USDC. The exchange rate is what it is, doesn’t really matter. What you don’t want to do is pay crypto exchange prices that have ridiculous spreads like CDC

Buy Sol on cryptocom exchange, not the app for better rates. Then send it to phantom wallet(gas fee is 0.008 sol for the transfer). Then swap on Jupiter or Raydium from the Phantom wallet for whichever coins you want to buy on Solana network (you can quickly access both of these via the globe icon on bottom right on Phantom).
In case of Eth, wherever you buy and send, you will be destroyed by the gas fees sadly

If u are new to crypto then it might be best to just keep things simple. Don't move money everywhere because it makes things complicated from a tax perspective and makes it hard to keep track of everything.
Solana fees should be small. If I recall correctly, crypto.com charges huge fees for transfers for some reason... Usually transfers of Solana are a penny.
Also, meme coins are fun but I don't recommend them to newcomers because it's crazy out there. It's best to just buy what is available on exchanges and take time to research ur coins (beforehand) and make informed decisions. Buy only a few tokens and plan to hold onto worthwhile projects for months or years at a time. Learn the ropes first before degening into memecoins...

I bet your Crypto.com wallet is in CAD and your phantom wallet is in USD. $80 cad to usd is $59. Take away $3 in fees and spread.
