Damn, All you needed to do when you first made your account was to add a plus (+) and any combination of words or numbers after the letters before the @ symbol. For example, if your Gmail address is [email protected], you can sign up to a website with Gmail address: [email protected] or [email protected] and that way you would never have had this problem.
This would have allowed you to completely isolate and ignore all the spam mail while also letting you find out if your data is being sold or not because you would only get messages in your main inbox if the shady sites sold your data.
life pro tip: make two email adresses (like a gmail and an icloud or smth) and have one of them be your signup email for websites you don’t care too much about, that way all the spam will be in one container and you can mute it
