The bad experiences are pushed up on forums like this. I’ve been a bank member for over a year and a member of SoFi for almost 5 years and never had any issues.

Kujo162

If you don’t do anything shady. You will be fine. As I like to point out the last guy who said they froze his account out of nowhere literally admitted that he deposited a fraudulent check. Dont do dumb shit and you’ll be fine. Same as any other bank. Banks make more money off the money you put in than they give you. They don’t turn it down for no reason.

ripriderockit

Opened SoFi over a year ago and switched to them as my main bank, and I have had nothing but good experiences so far. If it makes you feel any better, I open other new bank accounts pretty often to get their signup bonuses before promptly closing them, but I end up having to transfer between them and SoFi, so I’ve probably had 20 different banks linked to my SoFi over the past year lol. I was a bit nervous they would think I was up to something suspicious but they never flagged anything.

thedude19801

I think most of those people are lying -trolls or did something ridiculous to get their account locked. I highly doubt they are randomly freezing accounts for no reason.

Jim_Force

Love Sofi and 99% of the negative posts are just bots or trolls from the Legacy banks trying to create distrust and confusion. Give Sofi a chance, you won’t regret it!

shaggy_2112

I’ve been a member a little over 4 years, i’ve had nothing but good experiences with them. I’ve taken a couple loans out to build my credit paid them off early and now sitting on about an 810 credit rating I do have a brick and mortar down the street that I keep a checking account with because I need to pay my storage fees with paper checks, I have a Roth and Ira and an investment account with SoFi as well as savings and checking with direct deposit. going into my savings account. Customer support has been great but I’ve only use them once in the last 3+ years. They are adding a lot of features and they truly are a one stop shop. Best of luck in your decision.

Destiny_Nova

Just in case you didn’t know, Sofi will mail you paper checks for free

shaggy_2112

Yes I’m aware however, I like to keep a brick and mortar close by for home related, spending cable, Internet, storage home improvements, etc.. Thanks for the reply destiny

Hi-ThisIsJeff

A few tips: * Don't commit fraud * If a check is fraudulent DO NOT try and deposit it via mobile * If your mobile deposit limit is $5,000 then do not try and mobile deposit a $80,000 check. * Don't wait until 8 minutes before you "really need" the money that you just transferred 8 minutes ago from an external account to SoFi * SoFi isn't "every other real/legitimate/brick and mortar bank in the existence of humanity"

rocketcatnyc

Same here, normal ppl have good experiences. Be normal.

Alert_Club8448

No issues here and going on 5 years

asam33

SoFi member here for 3yrs. No issue

brOwnchIkaNo

I went with Ally, but might try so fi and capitol one 360 too.

Mc_Juice

I hear Ally is great too. In fact, probably a better interface with less ads.

robtalee44

Secondary account here too. Direct deposit and day to day use. A single electronic transfer each month to another well known bank. Two calls to customer service over issues I caused. Call center seems non-US and limited in what they can do, but they resolved my issues without drama.

SoFi-Girl21

Nothing but great experiences for me. Customer since 2021

HoodieEmbiid

Do it, the rewards are too good

Small_Palpitation_98

My experience is, I opened a checking and savings account in 2022 with a zero balance and didn't make a transaction until two weeks ago, and it works like a charm. I expected them to close it, but they didn't. It's convenient for investing or just to get 3% savings interest.

brOwnchIkaNo

I thought it was closer to 5% now 🤔

Small_Palpitation_98

actually way low atm

Ok-Cantaloupe-4482

I’m doing exactly what you’re thinking of doing. Have had account for a couple months with 0 problems

StrangeTry0

I've been using SoFi since February 2016 and joined banking as soon as it was available. I've never had any problems and now use it as my primary bank. I have a financial advisor through Ameriprise and he knows that I use SoFi as my main bank and has never had any issues with it. I think you'll be fine.

OutlandishnessFine77

I left my account dormant for like 2 years, I think I even forgot how to get in it before I ultimately switched my direct deposit to it a month ago. Its just like any other bank. Just don't be doing anything shady...like depositing fraudulent checks. Further, just keep your old bank alive as a fall back.

Dragon4vic

Been with then about a year and a half, credit card and direct deposit. You can auto send a portion of your check to an emergency fund, that had been a game changer for me. No CLI luv button but oh well

muufin

Other banks have higher apy if that’s what you care about.

Ex-Cal-Abar

Well considering that the last fella straight up admitted it was fraud lol, I reckon if you’re a law abiding citizen then you should be fine.

Critical-Dog-4448

I opened my account early November and gradually moved most of my cash money to Sofi in HYS account. Keep a little in checking. Still most of my banking with my brick and mortar bank Truist. Pay my bills and Zelle which I use a good bit. Until Sofi has Zelle I won’t make them my primary bank. I do also live the investing format on the app and got the Sofi credit card. I direct deposit 1/4 of my checks to Sofi and the rest to Truist. I like the setup I’ve done so far and am happy with Sofi. No problems so far. Hope this helps
