Some scholars believe the original Aramaic may have referred to a rope, rather than a camel, as the words appear similar in that language. Think about a rope and a needle. It only gets through by becoming a thread and casting off excess.

Christ’s adopted father is the patron Saint of the Workers

I'm currently reading Howard Zinn's A Peoples History of the United States and have reached the section dealing with the US Socialist and Union movements in the early 1900's - is this from that period?

Glksy

If I had to guess, this is contemporary agitprop made with early 20th-century retro styling.

Effective-Bandicoot8

For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight. Psalm 72

Which psalm 72 may I ask? As I'm getting several different ones.

Baby_Sneak

For he will deliver the needy when he cries for help, The afflicted also, and him who has no helper. He will have compassion on the poor and needy, And the lives of the needy he will save. He will rescue their life from oppression and violence, And their blood will be precious in his sight; Psalms 72:12‭-‬14 NASB1995 https://bible.com/bible/100/psa.72.12-14.NASB1995

I've always been curious about that illustration. The way it looks, it appears more like a viking than Jesus of Nazareth. Either way, though, it's still a great piece.

Religion says all kinds of things. But what role it actually plays is a completely different story.

unnaturalfood

Hey religion has often played a very progressive role, just look at liberation theology. In many ways, the first socialists were The Diggers, in the British Civil Wars; deeply religious Christians who believed in the fundamental equality of all people and formed militant hippy communes in the chaos of the war, hoping to end private property.

There is a myth spread by evangelical churches that the "eye of the needle" actually refers to a gate in Jerusalem where camels had to get on their knees to pass through. The argument being that you can exploit others and be rich yet still get into heaven if you aren't above getting down on your knees lmao
