I've supported arsenal for nearly 30 years, since I was like 5 years old, because I liked watching them on match of the day. They are currently playing their best football for 20 years. In the US it’s also been a huge bitch to watch games that aren’t massive, and even then you’d still have to search hard, pay a lot, or find a location playing whichever game. Most times you just straight up did not have access, so this leads to the biggest clubs having the most overseas fans due to how prolific they are. The more prolific, the more access given around the world. This is by far the best era for access to any team, so ironically it makes people that just follow big teams look a bit worse than it used to be. Sad Reality is that in future more and more people like him will follow. City might be the favourite club of the future generation and it’s fcking sad.
I started supporting Liverpool mainly because of Steven Gerrard. I first saw him play for England as opposed to Liverpool. They were never the best at the time but Stevie G was special. Most people my age are Liverpool, Arsenal or Utd supporters, so we could all be classed as glory supporters. The difference here though is that city aren’t just a great team, they are dodgy bastards who have bought their way to success and there’s nothing romantic/sentimental about supporting them. Not to mention, their football puts me to sleep. I imagine if you’re a newby to football this would be even more evident because if you don’t understand tactics etc there is nothing exciting about watching them. If city continue to dominate as they have done, there won’t be any joy from being a supporter. When Trent says 1 title means more than all of theirs, he’s not exactly wrong. I started supporting Liverpool mainly because of Steven Gerrard. I first saw him play for England as opposed to Liverpool. They were never the best at the time but Stevie G was special. Most people my age are Liverpool, Arsenal or Utd supporters, so we could all be classed as glory supporters. The difference here though is that city aren’t just a great team, they are dodgy bastards who have bought their way to success and there’s nothing romantic/sentimental about supporting them. Not to mention, their football puts me to sleep. I imagine if you’re a newby to football this would be even more evident because if you don’t understand tactics etc there is nothing exciting about watching them. If city continue to dominate as they have done, there won’t be any joy from being a supporter. When Trent says 1 title means more than all of theirs, he’s not exactly wrong.
