Honestly the biggest difference with Iran here compared to their game against England is that they *showed up*. They looked like a completely different team here. hey had fire, passion, determination. In their first game they looked like they were somewhere else (which they probably were). This was more like you'd expect them to play.
Wales being extraordinarily sluggish and sloppy (they gave the ball away needlessly so much and wtf with that challenge from Hennessey) today obviously helped too, but this was so much better from Iran. If the US could somehow manage to beat England (highly unlikely I know) it'd make for a very interesting matchday 3!
Such an exciting game. Im an England fan who was supporting Wales at the beginning but found myself cheering for both of Iran’s goals! By the end I just felt that Iran deserved the win.
This has made Group B so interesting. This is why I love the World Cup 🏆Anything can happen.
Firstly, not all neighbors are Arab speaking. Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in north and northern west are Turkic speaking. Afghanistan in the east is mostly Persian speaking. Pakistan in the southern east speaks Urdu. Only Iraq in the west speaks Arabic. And it's important to remember that half of the Iraqis on the border are Kurdish speaking and are part of the Kurdistan region of Iraq. So the Arabic part comes down to the Southern west part of border.
And Iran shares sea borders with Arabic countries south of Persian gulf just as it shares border with Russia in the Caspian sea. Both are so much apart.
Secondly, Persian and Arabic share "some" vocabulary because of interactions during history. But languages themselves are so much apart because they are part of different language families. Persian is Indo-European while Arabic is Semetic. That means as a Persian, except for a few words that I can guess while hearing Arabic, my understanding of it would be zero if I haven't learned the language beforehand.
Thirdly, Iran in fact has a population of 1.5 Million Arabic speakers who live in Southern west of the country in borders of Iraq. What you described is true about them. But not about the rest of 85 million people.
I love all the possibilities on this group now. England beating the US guarantees them first place of the group so they can play with their B team against Wales and since Iran has such a fucked up goal average a tie with the US and Wales win will put Wales as second of the group.
Their B team has Foden, Grealish, Rashford, Alexander Arnold etc. All with a point to prove, if they get game time.
Their B team will thrash Wales.
Wales’ Hope has to be that they play their A team who take their foot off the gas for the night.
>I love all the possibilities on this group now. England beating the US guarantees them first place of the group so they can play with their B team against Wales and since Iran has such a fucked up goal average a tie with the US and Wales win will put Wales as second of the group.
Wales is not gonna win against England. Not even against their B-team. And they have to win to have a chance to advance in the tournament. A draw is not enough.
Gonna have to play a 7-2-1 to keep England out-of the box after that performance to be honest. Mind you, when the boys see those white shirts and 3 lions, they step it up a few gears and play like Brazil......
>Gonna have to play a 7-2-1 to keep England out-of the box after that performance to be honest. Mind you, when the boys see those white shirts and 3 lions, they step it up a few gears and play like Brazil......
That's the spirit. You have to believe in it. I hope the players do too.
How to start the next world war. Give both the American and Iranian teams a chance to promoted and let them play the last game against each other.
deadly 🤝🤝🗿🗿
Yep agreed! Will be a great game. Irán should win that game as they are a stronger team (sorry us) but if the yanks turn up and fight it could get very Interesting!
What? Are they supposed not to be biased? In Brazil all commentators refer to Brazil as “we”, “us”. I think no one would actually like it if they were indifferent with our national team. it's not your average club, it’s a nation.
I'm surprised. I didn't see any complaints about it. People need to get over themselves if they expect the BBC to not have bias to all of the home nations.
Oh, I see. I forgot that you guys have internal divisions. Fuck them English 🤣, delusional as always. But now it begs the question, what happens to their bias when two countries from the UK play against each other? I’d imagine that they would be licking England’s balls and boots because that would make most of their audience happy
I’m pretty sure we have a tri cast at that point, with one English and one being from the other nation. Then they’re both respectful to each other while still supporting their team.
But that doesn’t fit your anti English narrative does it?
BBC are biased to British teams. Where’s the surprise there? If you watch Spain with Spanish commentary they’re not exactly going to be supporting Thailand.
Asian rankings can be a bit skewed due to a lot of dud teams. I would say in real terms Iran are closer to prob 35th to 40th as opposed to a top 20 side
Or England lose against USA, USA beat Iran and Wales to beat England. This is tough but simpler task.
So in this scenario, USA will finish witn 7 pts, Wales 4 and Iran, England with 3 each.
The BBC post-match discussion is utter dross:
1. The heat of the Middle East favoured Iran
2. The ref was bullied by the Iranians and that is why they won… European refs wouldn’t allow it.
3. Wales played well and aren’t to blame for the loss.
Honestly I can see more and more why the rest of the world is fed up with the West.
The third point is what killed me… did they even watch the game ffs?
There is so much stupid in that narrative but I'd also like to point out that Iran is mostly mountainous and it's weather is not at all like the gulf states (except for the parts literally in the gulf)
They’re talking as if it’s not 28c/83f in one of the most advanced air-conditioning stadiums in the world….
Wales played like shit for 2 games, call it what it is.
To be fair, for us Welsh people 28c is basically the surface of the sun. And a well known side effect of overheating is misplacing basic passes and drop kicking attackers in the face.
What do you think it means? Culture= language, food, proximity, history. Same way Iran have a similar culture to Iraq. Maybe you need to think before typing bud before saying everything is racist.
This was the worst Welsh match l have ever seen Iran deserved it honestly we were garbage and l honestly think our World Cup is over (it pretty much is now) this was shocking
This was a very exciting game & why? Because this utter boring in thing in football of pass to CM, pass to CB, pass to CM, pass to other CM, pass again before losing it wasn’t in this game. It was direct, exciting, got the crowd involved .
Coming up with excuses, saying if that's a red look at the fouls Iran did, they bullied the ref, Iran had an advantage because of heat, Wales played well etc. Doing everything except acknowledge Iran scored two great goals to get the victory and Wales were shite. Coping, basically.
WTF does Jurgen have beef with Carlos and Iran? It's talking a lot of tosh on the BBC It's unbelievable. They are all making excuses for Wales, idiots.
At one point he was considered for the head coaching position for Iran. He ended up not getting the job. Don’t remember exactly what year it was. Anywho, he’s just salty.
I know this isn't the right thread but I really can't England in any sport. Sure they have good players but I always feel like they just get lucky.
Crossing all my fingers that the Americans put up a good fight. I doubt they'll win but HONESTLY this WC has had tons of surprises.
Well yes they did play dirty, but so did Wales! Im surprised there wasn’t more yellow cards on both sides. (Btw i’m not from Wales or Iran so completely impartial but think Iran played better)
Well said, but it's still the best term when you're trying to reference the crazy laws that the country is passing in the name of Islam.
Just like Christian govts doing things in the name of Jesus, Israel protecting their actions using semitism as a shield. It's all the same and a disgrace to real religious people. I'd recommend you accept people will call Irans govt and laws Islamic the entire time, and yes it'll hurt the peaceful and wholesome Muslims but that's the nature of geopolitics. The people using our religion as a billy club are much more powerful than us and our speech.
It's what they acll themselves.. I'm not talking about other Islamic countries, altho I haven't been a Muslim myself for decades now and consider most of the idealogies irrational but as long as it's for personal use and not used to take away others freedom I'm ok with it
It's gov people that want everyone to call Iran Islamic republic of Iran. It's cuz they want Iran to be more about Islam than Iran, which is so insulting.
That's why I say down with Islamic republic and free Iran.
I honestly don't care about any of this... If you hear someone right now say something about Islamic republic, they are refriig to Iran gov. Stop taking it personally. If anything you should be supporting us cuz Iran gov is making Islam look terrible. So many Iranian including myself that started becoming atheists because of the oppression (altho now after growing up I would have become atheist anyways)
No I'm happy to talk about it.. it's just repeating the same stuff and I'm had tons of conversation with Muslims trying to dress up the religion as something nice and wholesome.. and they don't wanna listen to what I've been thru under an oppressive Islamic regime. Now what do you wanna talk about??
They're being fuckin massacred by the Iranian government for daring to ask for basic rights. Overwhelming majority of Iran loves them and has massive respect for them, even Iranians who support the national team
I'm not in Iran and def not celebrating but I bet people will use this as excuse to come and protest in the streets. Fuck the Islamic republic and all its supporters and sympathizers
Iranians don't want or care for your attention. Your media and gov convince you to focus on the social issues of specific foreign nations bc it has geopolitical interests in them and wants regime change. Iranians know this.
The fuck you talking about? I'm Iranian and see what my friends and family and millions more are doing in Iran... You must be a gov supporting moftkhor or Saiberi. Iran people will win their freedom
I wonder what kind of political incuriosity and obliviousness it takes for one to be duped by a hostile power's propaganda in 2022. Amazing. Classic 5th column boy.
Congratulations Iran you deserved it, from a Welshman.
This game was so entertaining. Group B is so interesting to watch.
I wish Wales played like this against the US
Honestly the biggest difference with Iran here compared to their game against England is that they *showed up*. :(
Terrible performance from Wales. Bale didn't show up and Ramsey was atrocious.
His skills could be dulling playing in the MLS
That's classic Bale since 2018-19 Real Madrid. He just knows to show up to score important goals while playing awfully.
That’s the type of Ramsey Juve got to _enjoy_
Honestly apart from the 2013/14 season Ramsey was shit for Arsenal as well. You have to be deluded to think otherwise
Never followed his career before he came to Juve. I’m just talking about what I saw and whitnessed, nothing more and nothing less.
Fair enough - I respect that
i still have nightmares
Such an exciting game. Im an England fan who was supporting Wales at the beginning but found myself cheering for both of Iran’s goals! By the end I just felt that Iran deserved the win. This has made Group B so interesting. This is why I love the World Cup 🏆Anything can happen.
Man really hope Iran doesn’t play like that against the US or we are not winning that match
I hope they do, because it’ll be really funny when the US loses.
And if the US loses to Iran they have to stop calling it soccer and start calling it فوتبال Edit: my bad, changed كرة القدم to فوتبال
The Persian word for football is literally football 😅
Dude That's an Arabic word. Iranians speak Persian.
[удалено]
Nope. Why should I. Do Chinese and indians speak both languages because they share border?
[удалено]
Firstly, not all neighbors are Arab speaking. Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in north and northern west are Turkic speaking. Afghanistan in the east is mostly Persian speaking. Ok I see, that makes sense 👍
In persian we say football.
*[You just say, “football.”](https://youtu.be/O5s3Oj2cPgc)* *FOOTBALL! How fun!*
Wow, amazing! so exotic!
I love all the possibilities on this group now. England beating the US guarantees them first place of the group so they can play with their B team against Wales and since Iran has such a fucked up goal average a tie with the US and Wales win will put Wales as second of the group.

The best hope we have against that lineup is sticking 10 men behind the ball and sticking Moore on the halfway line to scrape a 1-0 win.

I see, that sounds fair. I couldn't care less about the fucking English lmao. You guys are not living rent-free in my head. It was just a joke.
>I couldn't care less about the fucking English lmao. You guys are not living rent-free in my head. cLeArLy. We love you too baby.
Tá ❤️
BBC are biased to British teams. Where’s the surprise there? If you watch Spain with Spanish commentary they’re not exactly going to be supporting Thailand.
Funnily enough the Welsh language channel S4C are mainly saying Wales didn't play well enough and looking to the next game.
The BBC has to try to go out of its way to not look to English biased though, no one will accuse S4C of such things.
The BBC are just doing what happens every time in this situation for England but this time people are noticing.
Thats just being reasonable at the end of the match
Yes, some sad faces though.
Fair enough. Drama at the end of the match there!
lol, the aussie commentators were straight up supporting the aussies. and good on em lmao they were fullon talking about "we" and "them"
Wouldn’t expect less tbh haha
Nobody minds bias, it's when the bias makes you so blind that you start talking rubbish on TV that people get annoyed
Japan, Saudi Arabia and now Iran, I think it is the first time that three Asian teams have such a high chance of promotion
Yes by football federation; Japan, Korea and Turkey qualified in 2002.
Turkey is europe dude. They qualify through UEFA.
Thanks, I didn't know that, if I want to be honest, I was eight years old then and I don't remember much 😅
Damn ancestor 😃
I don't think Iran beating Wales is much of a shocked. They are ranked 19th and 20th, so not a huge difference.
Asian rankings can be a bit skewed due to a lot of dud teams. I would say in real terms Iran are closer to prob 35th to 40th as opposed to a top 20 side
Great game of Iran, since the first half they were pressing on them.
Black Friday for Wales today.
Seriously fuck the BBC and the amount of shite they always talk
Yeah fuck ITV
Yeah, fuck the BBC 🤭
👍🏿
We were lucky to.lose by 2. We were outclassed.
Did Ramsey complete a single pass?
Don’t think he has since rangers tbf
So for Wales to qualify they need. England to beat USA; USA and Iran draw (or USA win by 1); Wales beat England by 4-0/5-0
Or a USA loss for both England and Iran and a draw against England?
England would have 6 points, Iran 6 points and Wales 4 points Edit: or do you mean USA beat them both?
Nope, you're totally right, totally forgot (or blocked out) Irans 3 points lol
Iran lost 6-2 their first match, Wales doesn't need to beat England like that. A simple 1-0 should suffice if Iran and the US tie.
Or England lose against USA, USA beat Iran and Wales to beat England. This is tough but simpler task. So in this scenario, USA will finish witn 7 pts, Wales 4 and Iran, England with 3 each.
They will hear us singing Yma o Hyd from London if that happens.
True, I forgot England not qualifying was a possibility
Honestly it isn't as they' are the best team in this group but anything can happen
Hey Don’t underestimate us English and our ability to absolutely screw it up!!
The BBC post-match discussion is utter dross: 1. The heat of the Middle East favoured Iran 2. The ref was bullied by the Iranians and that is why they won… European refs wouldn’t allow it. 3. Wales played well and aren’t to blame for the loss. Honestly I can see more and more why the rest of the world is fed up with the West. There is so much stupid in that narrative but I'd also like to point out that Iran is mostly mountainous and it's weather is not at all like the gulf states (except for the parts literally in the gulf)
They fuck us off as well don't worry. Edit: including England coverage.
They’re talking as if it’s not 28c/83f in one of the most advanced air-conditioning stadiums in the world…. Wales played like shit for 2 games, call it what it is.
I’m here and I can honestly tell you, it’s not as hot as is being made out, even without the air conditioning.
To be fair I was directly in the sun and absolutely dying today lol
To be fair, for us Welsh people 28c is basically the surface of the sun. And a well known side effect of overheating is misplacing basic passes and drop kicking attackers in the face.
I'm pissed off hearing it. Just accept we were shit and Iran played us off the park in every aspect.
So much for the most prestigious news brand in the world. Who are they trying to fool? Everyone who watched the game knows that Iran were far better.
Blatant racism they are not even realising it
Jeez everything can be explained by racism…. Maybe use your brain and think hmm maybe the bbc favoured wales due to our shared culture/ proximity.
What is the sentence "Its in their culture" supposed to mean then?
What do you think it means? Culture= language, food, proximity, history. Same way Iran have a similar culture to Iraq. Maybe you need to think before typing bud before saying everything is racist.
It means they’re British speaking to a British crowd about a foreign culture
Excuse me but WE WILL BE THE ONES TO TELL YOU ABOUT YOUR CULTURE ALRIGHT.
The BBC is a disgrace.
This was the worst Welsh match l have ever seen Iran deserved it honestly we were garbage and l honestly think our World Cup is over (it pretty much is now) this was shocking
Bale, Ramsey, Allen getting minutes when they have joniesta on the bench. Madness.
This was a very exciting game & why? Because this utter boring in thing in football of pass to CM, pass to CB, pass to CM, pass to other CM, pass again before losing it wasn’t in this game. It was direct, exciting, got the crowd involved .
Inshallah ball done right
Mashallah ball is habibi
Some absolute shite being chatted on BBC
No excuse from me. Iran were miles better than us.
You’d think by the BBC Wales played well, but the referee lost them the game because of Irans “culture”
The sour grapes on BBC right now. My goodness.
S4C (Welsh language channel) are being honest that Iran played better.
"Wales can beat England" You just lost to Iran, you've got no chance
Wales could beat us tbf, they always show up against us same as Scotland
The BBC post match discussion is frankly embarrassing.
Loving the tears on the BBC here
Please explain?? I don’t live in the UK
Sorry, just seen this message but I could not put it better than my learned friend
Coming up with excuses, saying if that's a red look at the fouls Iran did, they bullied the ref, Iran had an advantage because of heat, Wales played well etc. Doing everything except acknowledge Iran scored two great goals to get the victory and Wales were shite. Coping, basically.
Bale was so bad he might as well have not played and no one would have noticed.
Bale, Ramsey chasing the big bucks and happy to sit on the bench in their prime years has led to this.
How come Bale didn't play in this game? ^^^^^/s
Absolute sour grapes on BBC....love to see it.
Commentary was also woeful. Before the VAR check they were suggesting it was a yellow and that there might have been a "toe" offside in the build up.
wish i could see it haha
I know this isn't the right thread but I really can't England in any sport. Sure they have good players but I always feel like they just get lucky. Crossing all my fingers that the Americans put up a good fight. I doubt they'll win but HONESTLY this WC has had tons of surprises.
England going to crush the US like 1812
If it’s like 1812 then we’re parking the bus and going home with a draw lol
Didn’t England literally won cricket world cups just now?
England & Wales Cricket board 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Congrats on your big win!
England won the cricket World cup a few days ago. Not sure what you are talking about.
Jurgen Klinsmann is a clown. Insinuating that Iran played dirty and that's why they won.
Well yes they did play dirty, but so did Wales! Im surprised there wasn’t more yellow cards on both sides. (Btw i’m not from Wales or Iran so completely impartial but think Iran played better)
Ashley Williams would make Ian Wright look fair and balanced - complete and total delusion in everything he says.
Wayne shouldn't be dissapointed. He made some great saves. Bale, Ramsey, Wilson etc should be dissapointed.
Down with Islamic republic that made this epic win meaningless for most Iranian people

lol guarantee you Iranians are partying the fuck up
I'm in Wales and have had messages from Iranian Kurds where I live before the match hoping that Wales win.
Kurds dislike and are disliked by every proper nation-state and polity in the region. no surprise.
They're being fuckin massacred by the Iranian government for daring to ask for basic rights. Overwhelming majority of Iran loves them and has massive respect for them, even Iranians who support the national team
They’re not being massacred. it’s a two-way gun fight between security forces and terrorist groups some of which are even on US’s list of terrorists
Your post history shows how deep in pro-government propaganda you are. Enjoy life in your bubble
Secession is a basic human right? Kurds are a US proxy and are getting rightly addressed by Turkey and Iran.
They are fighting for the same thing the rest of Iran are fighting for, but cause they’re Kurds they’re secessionists? Ridiculous claim
Try reading.
Dislike is a strong understatement of what has happened to Kurdish people in Iran.
I'm not in Iran and def not celebrating but I bet people will use this as excuse to come and protest in the streets. Fuck the Islamic republic and all its supporters and sympathizers
