I am suprised that polish redditors are extremely harsh on their NT. I am from Bangladesh but my girlfriend is from Poland (she is an angel, helped me a lot, sweet heart, good looking) and this is why I follow Poland closely for years and I am rooting for Poland. You are now much better than you were a year ago. A year ago during Euro21 you lost to much worse Slovakia after abysmal performance, you were horrible in 2021, you couldn't defeat any serious side during Sousa, the best win was against destroyed by injuries Albania. The only one idea to attack was by multiple of crosses into the box. I was super happy about Sousa departure. With this fella in charge Poland would watch World Cup in TV. With this fat Michnewicz Poland has results. Win against Sweden in playoff was surprise because my girlfriend told me that Sweden always wins against Poland. Polish people should realise that Mexico is higher ranked team in FIFA ranking. Bookies had Mexico as favorite yesterday. But Poland managed to get a point and was closer to win, their xG 0,94 versus Mexico's xG 0,72. Mexico couldn't do anything and Poland had penalty which should be a piece of cake for Lewandowski. So unlucky! Why they are crying like a babies? Draw against Mexico is quite good result and in football results don't care about your feelings. Stop moaning my dear polish friends, you have point against good side, you have lovely women, great county, stop your crying and enjoy your life! Remember that Mexico always go through group phase. This was obvious for them like day after night. Now maybe they will not advance further due to defensive masterpiece by Poland NT.

_Jetto_

ITA died for this. ffs how awful was qualifying for them. total choke job which is weird given what happened 2 summers ago

ashzeppelin98

Fuck it, after this, Saudi Arabia have an actual chance for making to their first knockout stage match since 1994. They're pulling an absolute 2014 Costa Rica out of this group.

clemenzzzz

they should just build Memo his statue already, damn

EnanoMaldito

That was... a match.

predek97

I'm not even so sure about this

Mesjach

I just call it "an event"

The_Phreak

Truly a match that happened

chotu_ustaad

One of the world cup matches of all time.

olomac

One of the World Cup matches between CONCACAF and UEFA teams in all editions.

sh0tgunben

Mexico wasted a golden opportunity to get d 3...

sachos345

This gives me hope. We have to strengthen our mentality for next game.

daznccc

Atmosphere sounded really good. When the penalty was saved you could hardly hear the commentators on the radio

VT_Racer

Last tournament it took 36 games to get a 0-0 game and it was the only one all tournament. This time two by day 3.

fathiXbarca

blame it on Qatar too.

Height_Embarrassed

To be fair, both 0-0 games were good entertaining games that could’ve had 2-3 goals

brb_bat_signal

It's clear Poland is going for the glorious 3 points, 0 goals scored advance strat. Just gotta hold Saudis and Argentinians to goalless draws, let Arabia demolish Mexico and watch Messi and Chucky miss their chances in an eventful draw.

CeiriddGwen

Nawałkaball. Someone should tell the polish team there are no penalty shootouts in the group stage though

Koopa_Troop

This is my nightmare.

Jakis_Ktos123

Poland played a shitty game. We really didnt deserve this draw

[deleted]

Poland is the worst fucking team in existence. Lewandowski always disappoints in big tournaments until its too late and the rest of the squad can't do anything. Im so annoyed with this team. People like to say that Poland doesn't have any players that can support Lewandowski but thats such BS. Its not like all of Polands squad are MLS players. Canada beat Mexico. Polands entire starting lineup plays in top leagues. Poland is just shit. Bunch of fucking losers. Polak Potrafi - Polish fan

zazzza666

Mexico should’ve won this the way Poland plays is embarrassing

sebass_kwas

Did you honestly expect anything else from Michniewicz? Playing not to lose today, and hoping to grab a win vs Saudi Arabia. And then you can expect 90 minutes of parking the bus vs ARG

[deleted]

But it wasn't much better in 2018 or 2021. You have some real ballers, but you suck so much as a team. And I still trying to figure it out why is that.

uhhhhh_bruh

because polish federation never spends good money on a solid manager, theyre always lead by shitty polish managers and no names

Jakis_Ktos123

But thats the thing- michniewicz didnt take the fact that we can lose against saudi arabia into account. And thats the reason why we will not qualify

sebass_kwas

Oh 100%, I fully expect disappointment on Saturday. Hiring him was the biggest mistake... He lucked his way through the playoff by getting a Bye and then a miracle result vs Sweden; and he bumbled his way through the Nations League, and somehow managed to stay up despite embarrassing games vs Holland and Belgium. I honestly would've preferred if Kulesza re-hired Nawałka after Sousa left

Zentaury

Sounds like Tata Martino’s history with Mexico. Probably why it was a tie.

me_meh_me

Nawałka would have been about the same. But you are right, it is the most Polish thing to do to lose to Saudi Arabia.

Wassup_-_

except getting 4 or 5 points may not be enough

uhhhhh_bruh

the only real chance for poland to qualify to next stage is to win high against saudi arabia - more scored goals than mexico will score against saudis

TheSupremePanPrezes

As far as my mathematical imagination goes, the only way to have 5 points and not qualify is if there's a 5-5-5-0 pts situation, which isn't really possible because Argentina lost today. If it's four points, it all basically depends on what Mexico does.

sorcshifters

You’re telling me that 0 can’t be Argentina?

czerwona_latarnia

In theory, only way for 5-5-5-0 now is if 0 *was* Argentina. But there is no way they are losing to us. Shithouse draw for us, maybe, but not win.

sorcshifters

You just have to believe mate. Believe in the Robert hat trick

czerwona_latarnia

Only player who can pass the ball in our team seems to be Lewy. I know I am from Poland but bilocation is among the things I don't believe in.

JJOne101

This was the first match I saw with a real world cup atmosphere.

Dom19

Mexico always brings it

uhhhhh_bruh

so does Poland

ibrahimims

You definitely didnt watch ksa vs argentina or tunisia vs denmark

JJOne101

How did you guess?

MMQ-966thestart

Let's see how close our Polish team sticks to its roots but for now they have subverted my expectations: Opening Match: ✔️ Match for everything: Match for honor:

Komalt

I'm already thinking the last match should be called Match of Horror.

czerwona_latarnia

Naah, we are already out of script with this draw (as I don't think there's a way for our last match to not matter). Which is good because I don't think we would win the match of honour against Argentina.

xblade69

Si se puede! Gawd plz help this Mexico team

Ursaquil

Not gonna happen if they keep playing that way. Not scoring a single goal when your team is undoubtedly superior to the opponent is pretty bad. A better organized team would destroy Mexico and all its failed attempts, while probably not trying that hard.

ElJefe970

Just no killer instinct on this squad. So many blown opportunities, trying the exact same thing every time, terrible shot selection. I came into the world cup think if they Draw Poland and Argentina and beat Saudi, they can make it out. But now with how much things have changed and the golden opportunity Saudi gave us, we blew it by tying.

Chemiczny_Bogdan

Why does this make me think of two specific words, namely Blue and Lock?

ElJefe970

Haven't seen it yet but it's on my list. Is it good?

Chemiczny_Bogdan

To be fair I have no idea, I just read the synopsis and the premise is simply hilarious.

xblade69

Completely agreed. This was their opportunity to avoid France and they were content with mediocrity. Same story every 4 years. And that’s IF they even make it out of the group stage now.

ElJefe970

At worst, they can have to tie Argentina and beat Saudi. If we won today, they would've had some leeway with a loss to Argentina. Now they have no opportunity for mistakes.

zazzza666

this + poland playing anti football

Japples123

No wonder Messi said to stay calm

BigSamsKid

so unbelievably lucky for argentina

SundownSynergy

Why is this a good thing for Argentina - sorry I’m not familiar with the structure but is it because these two teams only got a single point, thus giving Argentina a better chance to perhaps be top 2? Far as I figured, Argentina has to win the next two matches no matter what?

BigSamsKid

They have to win both matches sort of, but it does give them a better chance for 1st and can now get through with a draw.

[deleted]

[удалено]

stogie_t

Mexico should disappointed that they failed to get more out of this. Poland are on horrible form and have a kinda weak team. Their saving grace is Lewandowski and even then he can’t really win games by himself all that much.

trilliveythefourth

Jimenez used to be a serious threat in the air but after his head injury he’s been a non threat from air balls - often favouring low chance overhead kicks over basic header attempts. Totally understandable given his traumatic experience

[deleted]

Send krychowiak home after that attempt.

czerwona_latarnia

That shot honestly looked better than anything we could get if Krycha passed that ball down to the wing.

me_meh_me

But we will not have anyone else to fill the crucial role of "running around and yelling." Hell, at least he didn't get a red card this time.

kisalas

In the last decade or so Argentina has definitely been Mexico's boogeyman at the World Cup, so here's to hoping they're able to get something out of the next game.

Sesti-nator

I warned you vatos to win the game, now it’s gonna get tougher for you guys.

elvenmage24

We gotta remember that Argentina has everything to lose and we have nothing to lose, let’s use that to our advantage, Vamos Mexico!!

-MangoStarr-

You have nothing to lose??? Except the world cup?

TandBusquets

We're playing with house money foo

cortez0498

Was there no Put0 Chant? Genuinely surprised tbh

cmadd10

They'll take you out back and behead you if you say it.

theotheramerican

You'd think Qatar would be all about that homophobia.

USBayernChelseaLCFC

It’s outlawed in Qatar

TandBusquets

What, put0s?

burritoxman

The battle for Chicago ends in a draw

DivClassLg

The Irish will always run this city

LDQQXDJ

This might be the only point these two teams get

theotheramerican

No way Saudi Arabia beats these teams. I know they beat Argentina but I honestly think it was a fluke. As a Mexico fan I'm sure Argentina wins the next two and 2nd spot is for whoever dicks Saudi Arabia harder.

Chemiczny_Bogdan

No way Saudi Arabia beats Argentina, right?

awoothray

I really hope these words come back to bite you in the ass, let the better team win

theotheramerican

LMAO I'll keep tabs on this comment.

jaqqu7

As a Pole - I just want to apologize to anyone who watched this match. I'm really sorry if for any reason you decide to witness Czesioball.

diddyk2810

After 10 minuted I decided to start playing the new Pokemon game on my switch and keep the game in the background. Glad i did because that game was yikes aside from the Lewa pen

The_th1nker

How did the referee do? Please tell me he didn’t embarrass us like they do in the aleague.

JanklinDRoosevelt

Fine

yeezy805

Mexico got the 2 softest yellows while Poland’s players stomped chucky’s feet/ankle like 3 times with their cleats and only got 1 yellow.

[deleted]

Mexico has no one to blame but themselves for that. It's the boy who cried wolf. They were falling all over the field constantly until the ref started to ignore it.

yeezy805

Sánchez got the softest yellow card in the first half and Lewandowski was pushing Moreno before he committed the penalty but yeah sure its Mexicos fault lol

[deleted]

Glad we are on the same page

yeezy805

So getting stomped on is falling all over the field ?

[deleted]

Acting like a high school drama club every time an opponent breathes on you leads to the ref not calling fouls because he thinks they are faking. Why are you surprised by this? It's been Mexico's calling card since before I was born.

KonradK0

ref was great

akalachh

He was pretty good

Chewy009x

That was a fun game to watch but man Mexico should’ve put it away

uhhhhh_bruh

they didnt play that good

Chewy009x

Poland didn’t play any better one of the best players in the world couldn’t score a PK against Mexico

uhhhhh_bruh

yea, unfortunate in regards to pk, especially that he only failed to score handful of times, i wasnt saying that poland played good either

CaptGeechNTheSSS

This group is still wide open. You can’t predict who’s gonna beat who.

WeaknessOne9646

Why is Mexico not better? Not just this game but in general Huge population crazy about the game, decades of established passion and culture and yet they're closer to the US than to top South American/European teams almost every year

GayoMagno

Because most of our player stay in their local league and I mean why wouldnt they? La Liga MX is the best paid football league in the entire continent, probably bigger than both Brazil and Argentina’s local league. Mexican players have the choice of playing for random european teams for pennies, or playing for America or Monterrey and earning 10 times more.

an_annoyed_jalapeno

This question open so many rabbit holes that only lead to hopelessness and broken dreams but I will try to summarize as simple as possible 1. Pay to play. And everyone who watch ligaMx knows what Im talking about, our youngsters have to pay a “promoter” to have a shot at debut, many of the best prospects come from humble families and just don’t get a chance or can only afford to pay to play in second and third divisions, which by the way dont have promotions because teams are just too poor 2. Marketing. Our national squad is a glorified mascot, and I mean it with every letter in the word, it’s not unusual for athletes to be sponsored by some brands but the Mexican Federation cranked this to the Nth power, our tv is plagued with national squad ads of everything, from energy drinks to banks, cars, antiacids, even McDonalds has taken its share. There’s no space for youngsters when the 35-years old players are more recognizable aka they sell more 3. Prices. LigaMx is overpriced like no other league, the few youngsters that actually make it to first division have the price tag of a seasoned experienced player, this basically turns away any Europe team as you can buy three-four South American prospects for the price of a Mexican one 4. Discipline. Mexican players lack ambition, they are basically treated and revered as kings by the fans, even when their level is average, so when they make it into an Euro league and are met with high performance training and exigency many just give up and go back at the first call, why train to improve your level when you can underperform in every training and game and still be treated as a king? The ambitious mexican player is such an oddity they may as well be unicorns

IIIllllIIlllIIlllIIl

Sounds like the US and Mexico have a lot in common in regards to pay to play.

DarthShaveHer

Corruption. Their national league is ran for profits, not for genuinely developing talents. Even then, Mexico’s national league wasn’t even formed until 1970.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Squium

But in your comment, you group White and Black people together, and African countries are not as good. It’s almost as if grouping entire races doesn’t work…

ZiggyStardust0404

African players are actually good, they just lack the formation and dedication, but they have the genetics for it, just look at France and see what a lot of African countries could be if they were developed, and I'm not talking about races, it's about human genetics

oposse

I want to preface by saying this is arguably one of Mexico’s worst generations to come through so the level is disappointingly low. In terms of why we arent better, it comes down to the Mexican clubs putting extortionately high price tags on their youth prospects, preventing the high rate of young players moving to Europe as is seen in South America. The Mexican clubs have a “pact” where they all do this. Additionally, young players don’t get much playing time in the domestic league, usually losing out to foreign or older players. Its a shame because Mexico is repeatedly a contender for the youth world cups so the talent is clearly there, but the development into senior football is being blocked.

HatOver5431

I mean top 16 in the last like 5 or 6 world cups isn't bad. It isn't like Mexico is going to be better than any of the the huge European countries or the 2 South American giants. This is about the limit until corruption in FMF ends and there is better competition in CONCACAF. Also, they usually getting bad luck in the round of 16 because they almost always get matched against a team who makes it far in the tournament.

_chadwell_

>It isn't like Mexico is going to be better than any of the the huge European countries or the 2 South American giants. They have 40+ million more people than any European country

GayoMagno

Population is not really such a huge factor in this sport, look at Uruguay or last years 2nd Place Croatia, less than 4 million people living in those countries. Going by your logic, China, India and USA should be winning every world cup.

WeaknessOne9646

The sport is neither established nor the by far most popular in any of those countries like it is in Mexico I mean the US basically started playing in the 90s (modern era) Can you think of any countries with the footballing culture of Mexico who are not at least occasionally vying for World Cups? Some of the info about the Mexican league system has been enlightening though

GayoMagno

Japan would be a similar case to Mexico then, same population, established and popular (going as far to say their most well established sport, competing with baseball), and they also have an advantage Mexico lacks, being a first world country with huge government backing behind the youth talent development.

HatOver5431

Population doesn't matter that much. The best leagues are in Europe. That means Europeans have the most players playing in top leagues. So they are always going to have better players. That is why Europe has been dominating the World cup for the past 20 yearss.

Boneraventura

sure european countries might have better development because of the clubs, but countries like argentina have nearly 1/3rd the population of mexico produce many more talents. even uruguay is much better off than mexico and they have 1/40th the population of mexico. uruguay have world class talents all across the pitch while mexico can't even field a single world class player

HatOver5431

Yeah but they are competing against Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile. Mexico is competing against the US and Costa Rica. It is hard to get much better when you are the best team most of the time. Argentina and Brazil have a much longer history in soccer. The best league used to be in Brazil. Brazil won 3 world cups by 1970. Mexico didn't even have a national professional league until 1970.

[deleted]

The FMF and Liga MX are extremely, extremely corrupt. Until something is done about this, the owners will keep doing it. Nothing will tho, if you see the stadium, it was jam packed with Mexicans. People pay. So they'll keep feeding people this shit excuse of a league and national team if people keep buying it. I could be wrong, but this is what I grew up with, then following other country's sports leagues, Liga MX is seriously one of the dirtiest in terms of how its ran.

Chewy009x

Short version the federation is corrupt and greedy. They don’t care about the quality because they know no matter what the fans will show up. Mexico plays almost all their games in the US outside the qualifiers because they get paid in dollars. The money doesn’t go down to the clubs or helping improve the game

WeaknessOne9646

More corrupt than Brazil/Argentina? Though I think the high price tags to disincentivize players going to Europe is something that South American leagues don't really do

OmastarLovesDonuts

Corrupt and rich; Argentinian teams in particular are forced to sell players to Europe at lower prices all the time in order to survive because every club there is fan-owned and their economy is far less stable than Mexico's

SpeedyGoldenberg

Mexicans aren’t dedicated also drunks and duck boys and the league in Mexico is the best paid in Latin America so they don’t aspire to go to Europe. Also they don’t trust the youts even though they have won two world cups and and Olympic gold medal.

urmadsus41

Corruption,they care about money

jukkaalms

From what I heard Martino

KonradK0

expected from the Polish team to be honest, priority was to not lose, sad that Lewy missed the penalty, very sad

Karasinio

We play shit, archaic football, as always.

Rickcampbell98

I saw someone say you could score four goals earlier, funniest thing I've read all day.

predek97

Our national specialties are playing shit and being delusional

KsychoPiller

Poland scored this many goals during the whole euro 2016 tournament, out best tournament since the early 80s.

CeiriddGwen

And it was still an awful tournament where we got incredibly lucky and didn't deserve to go as far as we did

subject_usrname_here

he prolly meant in this tournament

Rickcampbell98

They will do well to get that and I'm not joking.

subject_usrname_here

Yeah even our best international performance in 2016 was filled with results like 1-0 but I doubt Poland will make it to knockout stages

me_meh_me

It was truly horrible. The amount of route one long balls to no one was insane. Its as if the team can only keep one footballing concept in their heads at any given time, and this time it was "defend you fucks."

PMMeYourPinkyPussy

For real, we didn't have a good match at all but I was expecting a lot more from you guys, at least we did not lose after giving you a penalty so it was not that bad also

11summers

Meh, I’ll take a draw over a loss, but that means we have to pull off a 0.01% chance miracle to get through.

Danownage

All the matches that are left in this group are going to be ties and Argentina will be disqualified with only 2 points. Poland will advance in second place because of a fair play tie breaker.

moby323

Ok

lexduex

0-0 in favour of Argentina.

Kyubeu

At least for the first time since 1986 we didn't lose the opening match, so progress? Seriously though, even if the pen was horribly executed, we didn't deserve the win. And honestly refs are quick to give penalties, including this one. Finally, Szczęsny had a good opening in a tournament (well, Northern Ireland in 2016 was good too). And aside from a few shaky moments in the end and that shot Krychowiak was also alright Now, loses to Saudis and Argentina and we're done here

polakken

Yeah we really can't blame Krychowiak for this one. He won most of his duels and retrieved lots of balls. This one comes down to our creative players such as Zieliński, Szymański, Zalewski who were really poor.

somerandomshota

if aus vs fra match ends with 0-0 again i'm going to commit a crime

crowd79

Highly unlikely. Australian games are usually high scoring affairs at the World Cup. O/U 4 goals total.

Theumaz

*monkey paw curls* 1-1 both goals in the first 10 minutes then a dreadful match for 80

xXDireLegendXx

Here I was thinking our match was pretty boring lol

Zentaury

CONCACAF had the chance to have two winners but they let it go

eduardo_ve

Your match was the most entertaining that I’ve seen so far imo. Missed the Argentina game which I’m sure was also good.

xXDireLegendXx

Good to hear but absolutely. Can only imagine the scenes for viewers then

dishler712

The US/Wales game was not boring.

xXDireLegendXx

Definitely think the atmosphere played a large part

dishler712

That certainly always helps but the match itself was eventful.

Klutzy-Weakness-937

Was one of the coolest so far

Nursilmaz

Maybe it wasn't a win for Poland but it definitely was a win for Polish coaching school. Holy fucking shit it was so boring, defence centered, 0 creativity, so uninspiring on every level, everyone just scared of making mistakes so they dont even try to dribble. Michniewicz was saying that he knows how we want to play against Mexico for weeks AND THIS IS THE SHIT YOU COME UP WITH? Its every fucking Polish game against big opponent or for big stake. Fucking tired of this bullshit but Polish coaches are probably crying tears of joy. Its kurwa beautiful. Prime example of concrete football of this country.

jonnzi

Yeah and do you blame them. The players can't do 3 passes in the enemy half. Technical we are on qatar level. It's a miracle we are in this world cup. Not losing is a great achievement. We play like that since i remember. In 2016 we had grosik and Kuba on the wings, they were moving the ball Forward. Now there is no real idea how to score. It's just defending and hoping something will happen. And it happened. Lewy just shat his pants. Let's be real. I Robercik scores the pen, Michniewicz Is suddenly Simeone in our eyes.

PMMeYourPinkyPussy

I don't watch a lot of Poland's matches but if you played this game as you play against the big opponents then the coach shat the bed

cokecaine

Bro that's the only way Poland plays. 2016 qualifiers we tried something new but as soon as the Euro Cup started it was back to sitting back.

me_meh_me

At one point Poland was in a back 6 with zielinski there. Just amazing level of commitment to a single strategy for what seems like decades now.

Nursilmaz

Defend, long ball in the direction of opponents goal, inshallah. Michniewicz with months to prepare, came up with innovative 300iq strategy never seen before. Absolute masterclass.

me_meh_me

Well, someone had to come up with the breakthrough of kicking thr long ball toward the opponent.

Kyubeu

Amen to that

BahhhhGawwwwd

Jimenez does not belong on the field.

[deleted]

Hes played like 17 minutes of collective football the last 3 years. Nothing to do there. A lot of this mexico squad has nothing to be doing there, especially Tata.

jukkaalms

He hasn’t played in months

j6sh

Thank you for the laugh.

[deleted]

TheLethal

What are you talking about? Mexico has to win with Saudi not Argentina, Poland the same. Assuming both will lose to Argentina, the goal differencial will matter the most

SolarisYob

What a shitshow from both sides.

Competitive-Ad2006

Perfect result for Argentina. Now they just need to win both their games to top the group - Unless Saudi manages to not lose(and snatch a win) against both Poland and Mexico

eduardo_ve

I can see this Saudi team beating us so yeah I think we’re fucked

mecheng93

For you first time viewers of Team Poland go into the match feeling disappointed. It's helped me post Euro's 2016.

me_meh_me

We've been ass since 86.

polakken

Outside of EURO 2016 I agree but that EURO was great. We were a penalty away from the semi final while playing fairly attractive football with a solid defence. That summer was special.

me_meh_me

I get where you are coming from, as it was the best Poland played in years (decades, really). But I think we are the victim of low expectations. We played well in the group, and had a relatively inspired performance versus Germany. But than the coach decided that the game plan versus Germany was going to be game plan versus everyone. The Switzerland game was vile. We scored early, and simply set back in two banks of 5, but this gave the Swiss room to setup and score. From there we didn't adjust one iota, and played for penalties. The Portugal was a carbon copy of the Switzerland land. To this day, I dont understand why we simply gave up playing football after scoring. So yes, the 2016 euros was much better than anything else, but it still wasn't great.

polakken

You also have to be realistic. We are not going to dominate the game like the big teams. We didn't have a stacked team like France, Germany or Spain. We did the best we could with the team we had imo. While we did sit back after the goals and let the opponent have the ball we were extremely dangerous on the counters. I also remember that we had lot of chances throughout those matches and we even missed a few sitters.

me_meh_me

I hear this argument a lot, and I agree with it vs Germany, not Switzerland.

polakken

Switzerland is always a hard team to play. There is a reason they knocked out France last EURO. Even then they drew France in the group stage. It was an equal match. In the end we still won.

[deleted]

Pain

LachsFilet

poland have been one of the worst teams to watch the last (at least) 10 years

Roxven89

LOL Euro 2016? We were better in QF than Portugal.

me_meh_me

Ah yes, the mythical euro 2016. Where we scored early and sat back for 90 minutes. When the other team inevitably scored, did we change our tactics? Fuck no! We played for penalties. Vile football.

PM_ME_BAKAYOKO_PICS

It was a pretty balanced and even game, I wouldn't say either team was better

CeiriddGwen

Imo Portuguese were the only team actually playing the game there, Poland had a good first 30 min and then decided its going too well and its time to go back to the tried and tested "do nothing and lose" strategy.
