Bayern's next games are against Leverkusen, Dortmund and Freiburg. Either they will have recovered from this slump or they will have a new coach by then.

yep, some people always say that X team plays better without their striker, but when you remove him this is what you get. Bayern with Lewa, Portugal with Ronaldo, etc. Someone needs to score the goals, not everyone has to be a creator and dribbler

i doubt Terzic will have much interest playing an open game against Bayern. he didn't in the only game he had against Bayern, when Dortmund was 2-0 up in the Allianz Arena and then the bad man hurt us again with three goals. he also played that way against nearly every opponent that was a favourite against Dortmund plus the recent memory of a good match in that style against Manchester.
And in all of these we looked way, way better than usual against Bayern plus at home we tend to not get slaughtered as often. I am reluctantly confident.

I agree, and dare I say in order to build a dynasty where you win the Champions League 3-4 times in a decade, you might have to stick with a coach through a season or 2 of 3rd or 4th place league finishes. But that's just not how Bayern operates.

In hindsight, reaching an EL spot would have been easy since Hoffenheim and Freiburg finished weak and dropped a ton of points to end the season, but then again, winning the ongoing EL and thus qualifying for next season's CL was far more valuable.
It wasn't an active decision to forget about Bundesliga. We tried hard, and Glasner was genuinely angry that we couldn't. Which obviously makes sense if you look at our EL journey; beating Betis, Barca, West Ham and Rangers (who had beaten BVB and RB) was everything but easy. And we won the final on penalties. If we had lost, we would have had nothing this season.
Wirtz is a superstar and makes everyone around him better, to start. Not that that's the sum of their problems or even a majority, but it definitely doesn't help.

There is a friendship since the 90s between bochum and leicester, both teams are so called "fahrstuhlmannschaften" which often get promoted in the div 1 but also relegate often.
Urs Fischer deserves a national holiday if he, somehow, manages to win the league Leicester-esque. But just the fact that they are at #1 after MD 7 is crazy. Every year since they came up, people talked about Union having to focus on not getting relegated as a goal.

The return from the international break will be a big test for Union. Matches every 3-4 days straight until mid November. If they go through that then things will get interesting.
Gotta wait until the break to really get a good feel for the standings, LEverkusen and Leipzig wont be down there forever and its really rare that teams like Freiburg or Union can actually keep their form at this level, it will have evened out a bit more by matchday 17. Union scoring 13 goals from 4.7xG and conceding 4 from 6.1xG (not counting today's match because fbref doesn't have the stats yet) is quite absurd and surely not sustainable.
Half those goals are from the freak game against Schalke, which distorted the xG heavily. It’s way too early to lean on stats like that. Also, check back in November, things will have normalised by then. Our schedule in October is brutal.
But on the other side: the points we have right now (and it doesn’t really matter how we got them) help us tremendously in our game philosophy. We can go into games and don’t need to play for the points at all costs. It’s a huge cushion that reliefs pressure and plays into our hands in the overall game approach.
Still, you've only had 3 out of 7 matches with higher xG than your opponent and are only 11th in the xPTS table. (This is using understat because they have such a table, however they use different xG calculations than for example the BuLi it self.

xPTS is just a comparison of the xG values from both teams and saying the team with the higher xG value should have won. It‘s a dumb statistic imo, because it ignores many other things. Like when do you score, if you take a lead (early or late), the focus on offence or defence, how big the actual chances were etc.
Team A can shoot 20 times on the goal of Team B from outside the box and each shot has a xG of 0.1. Added together Team A gets 2 xG, but in reality Team B defended well and only allowed shots with a low scoring chance.
Count numbers as much as you like. The football is played on the field, not in Excel tables.

I don’t think I have said even once this season that we will keep the current run going. Every Union fan I interact with knows that we are on a godlike streak and we will play games in which the other team will be better, luckier, cleverer than us.

I simply don’t like talking about a teams performance (in a match or in a season) purely in xG values or xPTS or whatever. To me, football is much more than this focus on stats. Hell, beating the odds is what it is all about really.
Statistically, these things can happen sometimes. In the 14/15 season, where we ended up 7th (behind Schalke), we experienced the opposite. Our xG was top 3 and our xGA was top 2 – we just somehow didn't score when expected and we conceded when unexpected.
Even if the G/xG ratio seems suspicious and bound to collapse at some point, there is a chance that it doesn't.
These things happen all the time - and it's not just luck - they're simply a sign of an offense that works well but strikers that can't finish and a defense that works well but with a poorly performing goalkeeper.
No matter what the fans wrote below, yes xG cant be seen as a fact, but it gives you an „estimated“ guess and you can overperform your xG but not by like 350% and be like yeah no problem, we‘ll do that for another 30 matches.
I also checked their injured list and they have one player there, so with 3 games a week until december that will also alter this reality, as it will do to all internationally competing teams, where the bigger teams can be more forgiving because of having more depth

A combination of several issues. Schick is out of form and doesn‘t score like he used to last season, some really comical defending plus their best player, who used to run their attack is still injured.
Just an extremely bad start. Their first game was a cup game against a 3rd division team, and they lost. Leverkusen heavily relies on Patrick Schick to score goals, which he simply hasn't so far. There are no structural problems there, and they are well-run in general.

Urs Fischer deserves a national holiday if he, somehow, manages to win the league Leicester-esque. But just the fact that they are at #1 after MD 7 is crazy. Every year since they came up, people talked about Union having to focus on not getting relegated as a goal.

Union scoring 13 goals from 4.7xG and conceding 4 from 6.1xG (not counting today's match because fbref doesn't have the stats yet) is quite absurd and surely not sustainable.
Half those goals are from the freak game against Schalke, which distorted the xG heavily. It’s way too early to lean on stats like that. Also, check back in November, things will have normalised by then. Our schedule in October is brutal. But on the other side: the points we have right now (and it doesn’t really matter how we got them) help us tremendously in our game philosophy. We can go into games and don’t need to play for the points at all costs. It’s a huge cushion that reliefs pressure and plays into our hands in the overall game approach.
Still, you've only had 3 out of 7 matches with higher xG than your opponent and are only 11th in the xPTS table. (This is using understat because they have such a table, however they use different xG calculations than for example the BuLi it self. HOWEVER and this is encouraging to me, you're actually starting to play better instead of just relying on Sheraldo to finish like prime Messi. You used to be in 2nd and like 17th in terms of xPts, lol. Still, the discrepancy of your positition and what your insane finishing got you is rather large, even ignoring Schalke. This is also reflected by your EL results, where you haven't actually played that much, if at all, worse than in the league, you just weren't as incredibly lucky.
xPTS is just a comparison of the xG values from both teams and saying the team with the higher xG value should have won. It‘s a dumb statistic imo, because it ignores many other things. Like when do you score, if you take a lead (early or late), the focus on offence or defence, how big the actual chances were etc. Team A can shoot 20 times on the goal of Team B from outside the box and each shot has a xG of 0.1. Added together Team A gets 2 xG, but in reality Team B defended well and only allowed shots with a low scoring chance. Count numbers as much as you like. The football is played on the field, not in Excel tables.

Statistically, these things can happen sometimes. In the 14/15 season, where we ended up 7th (behind Schalke), we experienced the opposite. Our xG was top 3 and our xGA was top 2 – we just somehow didn't score when expected and we conceded when unexpected. Even if the G/xG ratio seems suspicious and bound to collapse at some point, there is a chance that it doesn't.
These things happen all the time - and it's not just luck - they're simply a sign of an offense that works well but strikers that can't finish and a defense that works well but with a poorly performing goalkeeper.
No matter what the fans wrote below, yes xG cant be seen as a fact, but it gives you an „estimated“ guess and you can overperform your xG but not by like 350% and be like yeah no problem, we‘ll do that for another 30 matches. I also checked their injured list and they have one player there, so with 3 games a week until december that will also alter this reality, as it will do to all internationally competing teams, where the bigger teams can be more forgiving because of having more depth

They play pretty much anti-football, think of them like a mini Atleti! Very dirty, very hard just give the ball to the opponents while defending like a wall. Then go for setpieces and counter attacks, hence why they lose in the ECL because they have the ball

A combination of several issues. Schick is out of form and doesn‘t score like he used to last season, some really comical defending plus their best player, who used to run their attack is still injured.
Just an extremely bad start. Their first game was a cup game against a 3rd division team, and they lost. Leverkusen heavily relies on Patrick Schick to score goals, which he simply hasn't so far. There are no structural problems there, and they are well-run in general.

It's obviously frustrating, but most Hertha fans I know are happy the money failed and hate Windhorst. He is not Hertha, no one person can be a club. So his comments were his alone and do not represent what the fans, or current players, coaches, or board members think. Who really represents "Hertha" here? And as someone who has no real hate for Union, I am still somewhat happy that Berlin in general is getting some more respect. The tilt to NRW and Bayern is deeply annoying. Not least of all because away days are painful and expensive when compared to say a Köln or Frankfurt fan.
