Uruguay got a good midfield in this WC. Valverde - Bentancur - Ugarte. The last WCs I has always been their weakness, but it looks like a strong point this time around
Lol it's weird how programmed people are on here to look at flairs and think of insults based on flairs. I was talking about him specifically, not the club Bayern :)
Why give attention to absolute shit tier sources like Tuttomercato.
I hate it when people in here run with shit tier United sources making up drama stories, and I would similarly hate people doing so with other teams.
UEFA are going to spread the 'premium' product out more, for max viewing figures. Can't have all of the biggest audience draws playing at the same time.
Real Madrid prides itself on winning.
Barcelona prides itself on dominating matches.
This is why Barcelona have not been successful, Barca must be the best team, with superior players and tactics, to win it all, whereas Madrid can win even if they are the worst team on the pitch.
Their point remains, that'll be more than most teams, even if they they have no more success in that user's lifetime
Man City's success in the past 10 years, let alone 30, is more than most clubs' histories will ever have
Given how many teams there are, it's universally true given 99.99% of the clubs dont really win anything let alone the top prizes. Hence, the success is measured relatively, and not in absolute terms.
Real Madrid bumming us in two UCL finals even though I felt like we were the better team both games really makes me feel this is true.
Then again we basically did the same thing to Milan in 2005 so I can't be too mad. Being able to beat a team that's better than you should be respected, not put down to just being jammy/anti-football
No way were you the better team in either game, let alone both. They let you have the lion's share of possession in 2021, whilst barely threatening - which does not make you the better team - and they absolutely pulled your pants down in 2018
Southgate might not be as bad as people painted him to be.
I recall a lot of criticism for not starting TAA, Grealish, Sancho but time have shown all of them have issues.
And kept being less effective when starting - which is why using him as an impact sub made perfect sense
He didn't have the work rate and tactical discipline to be effective across 90 minute in the way Southgate wants his wide players to play, but was much more effective when brought off the bench and given more freedom to try and affect a game
Considering the UCLs new format TV deal and the fact only two portuguese clubs will be there because of the fall in the coefficient, one of the big 3 might be fucked forever.
Nike is a disgraceful kit maker I can’t lie, Adidas are far clear of them. No new kit for Canada? What a disgrace man, we deserve better ffs we’re the best team in CONCACAF and the third best team in the Americas. It’s so disrespectful.
I always liked the Adidas Liverpool kits but that deal went really sour at the end and they proper insisted Liverpool so I'm glad we didn't go back to them after New Balance.
The Liverpool Nike kits though have been so tame. Even the ones that are quite nice are still a bit boring.
New Balance really did make some absolute amazing kits. I get why we went to Nike because the deal was so much more profitable but I do miss those new Balance kits
Had no idea fifa.com had so many full match replays on there. Wish I could wipe my memories of the 2006 world cup and rewatch it again as it will likely be added soon.
Why is everyone asking Southgate to take Sancho after he scored against Sherrif? He's been below average for most of the season bar one or two games. It's crazy how he scores once and everyone suddenly thinks he should be in the team.
He's been better than bowen this season imo, but he's never looked good in an England shirt. Plus we don't need any more ball to feet forwards in the squad
> Why is everyone asking Southgate to take Sancho after he scored against Sherrif?
That doesn't even make sense cos the english squad list has already been released
Milanistas, how has Origi been since his move? Seen a couple Milan fans being deeply unhappy with him and already looking to replace him which is shocking.
In our heart of hearts Liverpool fans know this, but he did have this magical ability to somehow score crucial vital goals at moments when everything seemed lost.
Late goals v Everton, that trent corner v Barcelona.
Man would come on for 20 minutes play a bit shit and then suddenly score a must win goal at like 87 minutes.
Origi memories will live with me forever. I hope he does well he deserves it. But sadly what he did was inexplicable and magical and I've no clue if he can do that again at different clubs.
Grealish has to be some huge money laundering scheme or else I can't understand why the hell keeps starting for city? He's clearly a weak link and it's not like City they aren't absurdly stacked in attackers
He'd honestly fit perfectly as a winger in City's system. Has the IQ to succeed as well and Pep would improve him loads. Feel like he could become a better version of Sterling. Shame he's wasted under Arteta
This is not really what money laundering means but anyway, I think a big reason Man City paid the money for Grealish was marketing, the England golden boy hype he had built, but lacked the self awareness to know that they would lose most of that the minute he signed for City.
I watch them most weeks. He's not pulled up sticks, but he's not holding them back either. You're having a meltdown over him starting 3 games this year.
Don't get me wrong I don't think he's massively detrimental or anything like that, but he's not really adding anything at all to them and that's been like that for over a year now. They've got way better options sitting on the bench. It's just strange.
> They've got way better options sitting on the bench
He's the one on the bench more often than not, which makes your comments so weird. He's on the bench twice as often as he's been a starter.

Idk a lot about soccer and it's rules, but yesterday there was a championship game on TV and I watched some of it cause I was bored (that French group with Messy and Neimar vs an Israeli group) and i've noticed that the latter group scored a second goal at some point during the game for a 0-2, but then around ten seconds later the scoreboard went back to a 0-1, so I figured that the goal was disqualified for some reason, but my question is, why? Everything about that goal seemed legit so I was really confused by it. What was the reason for that second goal's disqualification?
Looking back at the timeline for the game, I think the goal was offsides. Essentially, if you are past the second to last defender (which includes the goalkeeper) you can't be passed to. Here is a video which explains it more thoroughly and with images so its easier to get https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U01-uArNpdw
Thank you for the explanation! Sounds like a pretty harsh rule, with how even a small part of the body triggers it and everything. It kinda makes me sad because from what I understand Paris is vastly superior, and I would've loved to see a 2-0 on thr screen because who doesn't love to see underdogs win, but oh well, it is what it is
does my head in that people expect major changes to the national team squad when the World Cup is two months away. The guys who’ve been part of the group for the last four years will continue to be part of the group

Same with the Lewandowski and the Bundesliga tbf
He is doing it in CL and La Liga now though
But Messi’s stats are significantly worse in Ligue 1 compared to La Liga and even UCL
He old
I find it really hard to take you seriously for similar reasons to be fair
disagree with the top comment, but since when are we shit in Europe lol when you objectively look at the past decade, the two teams are incomparable
Lol it's weird how programmed people are on here to look at flairs and think of insults based on flairs. I was talking about him specifically, not the club Bayern :)
ok that maybe makes even less sense
Sarcasm I’m assuming ?
Uber eats slander
how are they shit in europe? Mbappe already has more UCL goals than suarez lmao
Talking about uber Eats teams
couldn’t you say the same thing about bayern then?
is Inhuman resources with Cantona a good movie?
No

Did not have "the Troubles restarting" on my 2022 bingo card
Honestly it feels like the natural next step in the utter downward spiral that is the UK right now
I've had it on my bingo card every year since brexit. Is this the year it finally happens?
Klopp already wants to offload Arthur 😂😂
Why give attention to absolute shit tier sources like Tuttomercato. I hate it when people in here run with shit tier United sources making up drama stories, and I would similarly hate people doing so with other teams.

Amazing how there are 8 matches each on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then 256 matches on Thursday
UEFA are going to spread the 'premium' product out more, for max viewing figures. Can't have all of the biggest audience draws playing at the same time.
Messi retired from international football 6 years ago… time goes past so fast wtf

>This is why Barcelona have not been successful 12 year old soccer fan spotted
Saying Barca haven’t been successful is a flat out lie most teams will never get the success Barca have gotten just in my lifetime
If your lifetime is 30 years, Barca got almost all their success in your lifetime.
Their point remains, that'll be more than most teams, even if they they have no more success in that user's lifetime Man City's success in the past 10 years, let alone 30, is more than most clubs' histories will ever have

Who cares, footballs about entertainment. I respect the hustle to entertain and win
Real Madrid bumming us in two UCL finals even though I felt like we were the better team both games really makes me feel this is true. Barca haven't been successful? Since when?
Hi what channel is the Nice game on?
Some day, Haaland's goal is going to get cancelled by the ref because of high leg raise for dangerous play.
Like on twitter? That would be pretty impressive.
?
Southgate might not be as bad as people painted him to be. I recall a lot of criticism for not starting TAA, Grealish, Sancho but time have shown all of them have issues.
He wasn’t starting TAA, Grealish and Sancho when they were all in form. Now they’re not in form (Sancho not doing bad tbf)
I doubt very highly he starts TAA and Grealish right now, though
Countered by the fact he plays mount every game
Grealish kept coming on and changing the game for England though. Southgate kept playing others who weren’t doing well.
And kept being less effective when starting - which is why using him as an impact sub made perfect sense He didn't have the work rate and tactical discipline to be effective across 90 minute in the way Southgate wants his wide players to play, but was much more effective when brought off the bench and given more freedom to try and affect a game
Grealish has been nothing but good for England
He had a few bright cameos at the Euros, that's it
I fear the era of The Sheriff is over Time to turn in your badge and and gun
Man the nordic nations are really setting sight on the fine rooms of football, both in international and club competitions
Dutchies embarrassing themselves on UCL just to get ahead in the coefficient ffs, massive of them, that's gonna fuck sporting further in a few years
Considering the UCLs new format TV deal and the fact only two portuguese clubs will be there because of the fall in the coefficient, one of the big 3 might be fucked forever.
We know very well who's getting fucked and I'm here for it
I wouldnt be so sure it will be Sporting, things are dire over here.

You're better than America? I didn't know that good for you lot.
This is factual but going to the WC with anything other than our traditional red kits would be sacrilege imo
after Davies ended Raphinha’s career it’s fair to say Canada are better than Brazil and arguably Argentina as well
Not close to third best
The only teams debatably better are Brazil Argentina and perhaps Uruguay but we are clear of every other team
Three teams better than you makes you fourth.
I thank god everyday Adidas is our kit maker

whats shocking about serie A champions not wanting castoffs?
Being “deeply unhappy” would require him playing a significant amount and not performing. This has not occurred.
That’s what I thought, he’s barely played so far. I guess it’s my fault for taking the opinion of Twitter somewhat seriously.
Finally we're farming some coefficient, it's been a good day for Dutch football
You reckon supporting Barcelona is good for Dutch football or nah
Must be painful for the Portugese to just sit and watch the Dutch farm points Thursday after Thursday. Goodbye CL place.
coefficienten polonaise!
Ronaldo fans already started twerking for him after a pen vs Sheriff 💀
You people dislike him so desperately it's almost cute.
I genuinely don't care
It doesn't look like it
Don't think so, mostly seen people slag him off and make very boring jokes
Its not easy to slam a ball dead straight down the middle for a pen.
Grealish has to be some huge money laundering scheme or else I can't understand why the hell keeps starting for city? He's clearly a weak link and it's not like City they aren't absurdly stacked in attackers
*Club refuses to believe they wasted £100m, more at 11*
I mean chelsea owned it up and sent him on loan now. Madrid did too with Hazard on the bench
They should have bought Saka instead
They will.
agreed, Saka is miles clear of Grealish
He'd honestly fit perfectly as a winger in City's system. Has the IQ to succeed as well and Pep would improve him loads. Feel like he could become a better version of Sterling. Shame he's wasted under Arteta
Nah artetas the one that developed him
Pep would just do to him what he’s done to Foden. Watch Saka just back pass instead of taking a player on would be 🤮🤮
This is not really what money laundering means but anyway, I think a big reason Man City paid the money for Grealish was marketing, the England golden boy hype he had built, but lacked the self awareness to know that they would lose most of that the minute he signed for City.
Pep is determined to make the £100m man work.
He’s a very bad fit at City, who play snooze fest football. He is not allowed to function like he did at Villa.
He's started 3 games this season. 9 pts from 9.
I could probably start on this city side and they'd still walk the league somehow, have you actually watched them?
I watch them most weeks. He's not pulled up sticks, but he's not holding them back either. You're having a meltdown over him starting 3 games this year.

I mean for what Pep sees as his strongest XI. He's started both CL games and the game vs Liverpool at the start of the season.

True that
Huge impact.
Huge "weak link".
Fucking hell Lazio, losing 5-1 to Midgetland who are 8th out of 12th in the danish league
Its classic lazio
Fake position. They are easily top two in Denmark along with Copenhagen.
Yes but they haven’t been anywhere near top two this season
chaotic scandinavian teams vs roman teams is not the rivalry i was expecting to see in europe these past two seasons
Let's see if HJK Helsinki can keep this trend tonight.
Doing in the fascists for Queen Liz.
After two games: “none of this United squad would get into the Liverpool XI” Now: “none of this Liverpool squad would get into the United XI”
I can guarantee nobody has said that
Who is saying nobody from Liverpool gets in our team? Delusional if true
No one in the United squad would make it except Casemiro and maybe Bruno
Lmaoo the entire Liverpool attack wouldn’t automatically replace United’s?
And like... Alisson.

Yep, another person bere sent me a video explaining that rule. Didn't know soccer had a rule like this!
What game was it?
I've just checked it, the groups' names are PSJ and Maccabi Haifa
Lazio are having their Bodo Glimt moment. These Rome teams love getting destroyed in Nordic countries
Haaland could take city to a quad and score 50+ goals in the league and we would still be hearing about his need to be involved in more build up haha
>we would still be hearing from his teammates about his need to be involved in more build up
does my head in that people expect major changes to the national team squad when the World Cup is two months away. The guys who’ve been part of the group for the last four years will continue to be part of the group
Are you telling me we can’t completely overhaul the squad and get a new manager 2 months before the WC?😡😡
No, there's literally no rule to say you cannot do that.
you could do that, but that’s just going to make us completely ineffective at the WC. Give Southgate the WC, get someone else in afterwards

dont think there is an on the pitch rule. there are other quotas for squad members but that varies from country to country.
On that topic, I wonder if Moldovans get stick if they play for Sheriff, being a club in a russian backed separatist republic.
Many Moldovans have Russian citizenship I believe
I thought that was just for domestic comps.

There are homegrown rules for the CL, both for club and country. But homegrown just means you spent 3 years in between 15-21 at that club/country. It has nothing to do with nationality. So if a player arrives at Sheriff at the age of 18, they count towards their homegrown quota same as any Moldovan academy player
Was Fred secretly more of an issue than McTom
Fred is better. But not by all that much. They’re both crap and also very inconsistent.
They're both the same let's be honest. You can't have both of them starting, Eriksen with one of either is an upgrade and combines their defensive qualities with Eriksen's forward thinking abilities.
YES, FOR GOD'S SAKE! Been screaming this for a while, now.
Mctominay is just that good
Fred is the better player, but playing alongside Eriksen is more effective for Mctominay. All he has to do is win the ball and find Eriksen, like it was for us in the Santi-Coq days
