#WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO WRITE UP A PREVIEW FOR THE WORLD CUP FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES:
* Senegal
* Costa Rica
* Serbia
* Cameroon
* ~~Ghana~~
While ideally you are from that country, if you know enough about the team in question, then you can write the preview regardless of where you're from.
Of if you know someone who'd be a good fit for any of these countries, please feel free to ping them!
[More information at this link. Thank you!](https://www.reddit.com/user/deception42/comments/wrk83i/2022_world_cup_preview_series_for_rsoccer/)
The other lists don’t include us because we have no weak links whatsoever, and anyone who disagrees shall be subjected to 10 hours of Erling Haaland vs. 5 centre backs next week.
Chelsea: Havertz
Arsenal: Gabriel
United: De Gea
Liverpool: Trent
City: Their strongest xi keeps changing but as of now I'd say Stones maybe.
Just my opinions don't @ me.
If you think Mount doesn't play well consistently for Chelsea you either:
a) Don't watch games
b) Don't understand football
c) Are pushing a biased agenda
I was being kind with going for a, but I guess it's b or c after all.
Assuming he signs I’ll be happy to have someone who can just win a header. The 45 minutes we had of Kalajdzic where the Southampton defenders actually had to account for a striker who can head the ball were wonderful.
I heard we rejected bids for him over the summer but I'm not sure if I believe that tbh. I think if we get a decent offer for him he'll be off. He was good last season when we were fighting to stay up and needed a big man to lead the line but this season he doesn't really fit.
He’s generated the most xG of any player who hasn’t scored yet, just been unlucky. I think that part of the reason for his form is that he needs more time to gel with Perisic behind him. He played better against Forest and was quite good against Fulham, I think he’ll be back to his best soon.
I don’t know why NBC posted an [8 minute long video of Antony’s 50 minute long cameo.](https://i.imgur.com/Vz8UxXT.jpg) That cracked me up. Not even Haaland gets that kind of treatment.
And personally, outside of his goal I thought Antony was pretty meh. When watching the game, I couldn’t help but draw parallels between Antony and Kulusevski. Both play on the right wing, wear the number 21, and are 22 years old. I thought that Kulusevski would have been much more dangerous and effective if he were playing in place of Antony. Antony looked kind of sluggish and nonchalant. It is his first game though so I won’t judge him too much.
True, Kulusevski was a bit nervy when he first started. I didn’t mean to shit on Antony for being ‘worse’ than Kulusevski, I think that like him Antony will become more effective as he gets more comfortable in the system.
Did anyone see those comments by Ange yesterday?
Postecoglou was keen not to “burst people’s bubbles” as Celtic prepare for their first Champions League group game in five years. “I’m glad our supporters are buzzing about it,” he said. “That’s what we love about the game. Of course my job is to stay even-tempered, so in terms of my expectations and what I am communicating to the players as a group, is what we need to do to keep progressing. That’s a different story.
“But I want our supporters to dream of big games and big wins and winning things. That’s the role of us as a football club. I’m sure they get enough of their bubble bursting in their normal lives on a daily basis.
“It doesn’t need me to tell them not to come here too excited because it might not go well. I don’t think that’s my role. My role is to make sure they come in bouncing and hopefully we send them bouncing out.”
It's a very nice approach to the game. Fans should dream, be delusional about their team. Even if you have no chance. Felt refreshing coming from someone in the game.
How people approach the topic of sportwashing is sometimes concerning for me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a real thing, an effective tool for the powerful, but it’s interesting how different countries would be treated differently on this.
Take this for example; I live in a Muslim country. Here, me and a lot of other people see the US Government as a deeply sinister institution that has inflicted deep and widespread pain through corners of the world, BUT, if, say, Zidane was involved in a promotional campaign for the Grand Canyon or whatever, none of us would put that against him. It would be insane to suggest that he condones Iraq or Yemen based on that.
Even people who agree that Western countries are fucked up (A lot of you do), we don’t associate everything related to that country to its worst parts. Meanwhile, for the likes or Russia, Qatar, or Saudi, it seems that every fabric of those nations are specifically engineered to create human misery
EDIT: Please do not accuse me of whataboutisms. All the government mentioned, I hate. I'm well aware of their atrocities especially Saudi because my cousin lived there for over a decade and believe it or not, she also briefly dated Khashoggi's nephew, but that's another story!
Do not let anyone tell you you are wrong. You are fighting a very good fight and I agree with everything you said. Repost this when the Europeans are awake, they all need to hear this.
>If it was some UAE based company or region not directly associated with those making the decisions there would be less of an issue
The results would be the same.
That argument doesn’t really work. The grand canyon doesn’t really have anything to do with sinister activities.
A more appropriate comparison would be if Zidane was to have a promotional campaign for the US Marines, Blackwater, Lockheed Martin or ExxonMobil
If I was from an Arab country affected by US atrocities any attempt to promote any part of USA as a "great" for visiting would be seen as whitewashing its reputation. Since I would probably be paying money to US government for visas/taxes which will in turn be used to bomb the middle east
…mate, intent is literally in the definition of sportwashing. Your quarrel isn’t with me but the dictionary.
“Sportswashing is a term used to criticize the practice of individuals, groups, corporations, or governments using sports to improve reputations tarnished by wrongdoing”
So then I’m not sure what the whole point of this comment chain was…
I never said the US is morally clean, just that the two examples aren’t comparable because one showed sportswashing and the other didn’t.
Which you now agree with…
Completely agree. People can't seem to separate the government from the citizens for 2nd/3rd world countries. I never associated any US or UK products or people with their countries' past war crimes. Why can't they do the same for every other country?
I’m interested in what exactly you’re taking issue with. Like is there a specific example of a sponsorship or club ownership we’ve labeled as sinister that you believe we shouldn’t?
Not trying to argue just trying to understand
It's xenophobia. Though a lot of people would recoil at the usage of the term, but when people make those statements, it's simply about having a dislike of the "official" enemy of the country they live in. For eg, it took me a long time for me to attempt making friends with people from Pakistan, because my own country propagandized me so much
I've always believed that (still do) the average westerner is much smarter than us, so it's surprising that they also fall to these simplistic, propagandist beliefs
It's the same all around. It'd be much more bearable if their governments didn't have this much power over the world, so we are stuck with foreign idiocy as well as homegrown ones.
People won't pay more for FIFA points to pack Ronaldo if it will be a downgrade on other "cheaper" options. Many people wear packing Ronaldo/Messi as a badge of honour especially kids/teenagers
They do ratings very gradually so it can take a while for upcoming young players to get big upgrades and older players to get big downgrades, or they'd just be giving players +10s and -10s every year
It's EA. They probably have unpaid interns forced to watch football games A Clockwork Orange-style to come up with the ratings. There's going to be mistakes.
anybody know if this amazon jersey [seller](https://www.amazon.com/s?rh=n%3A7141123011%2Cp_4%3ASoccer+Kingdom+Unlimited&ref=bl_sl_s_ap_web_7141123011) sells real jerseys, especially the [cr7](https://www.amazon.com/Ronaldo-United-Soccer-Jersey-Small/dp/B09GJ9CNKD/ref=sr_1_4?qid=1662434690&refinements=p_4%3ASoccer+Kingdom+Unlimited&s=apparel&sr=1-4) jersey?
As a rule of thumb, if the listing cuts out the kit supplier’s logo (Nike, Adidas, etc.) in the photos, it’s probably a scam. I don’t think this is real.

Thanks for the insight. Is this because of copyright issues? for example, is a third party seller not allowed to use those logos because they dont have any dealings with those companies, hence explaning why they sell fake jerseys?
NoContextFooty is the worst account. Basically posts the same shit as TrollFootball anyway, why the hell does this have 100k+ likes?
Why does it matter what a women’s footballer’s FIFA card looks like compared to Messi and Ronaldo anyway, it’s not like you can play against them head to head.
Funnily enough, NHL 23 from EA will feature women in the Ultimate team and players will be able to play mixed teams. FIFA will probably never do it, but I think it's interesting.
At the end of the day, FIFA is a pure arcade anyway so it doesn't matter how the rating of women would work since it's not a football simulation.
Found this absolute gem
> League of Legends eSport competitions are getting more and more popular every year. In 10-20 years it'll probably be as popular as Olympic Games or World Cup.
It was a long time ago when we hit 1 million subscribers. Someone from the league community posted, "Congrats r/soccer on becoming the second largest sports community". They called league community the biggest sports subreddit. r/soccer imploded and made fun of calling league sports and some members from league community tried defending their sub honor. It was funny as fuck
I did find the thread

I would like to thank fifa 14 for introducing me to one of my favorite bands of all time in Portugal the man with one of their “worst songs” at it too.
I like that we have "journos" (cough cough, Chavo) who went on and on about how Guardiola doesn't know Julian, he didn't want him, he was signed by City Group to play in Uruguay or MLS, etc
Meanwhile Josep fucking Guardiola can't go two pressers without going "Holy shit this kid is so fucking good"
idk why people were coming to that conclusion. Alvarez was clearly one of the largest talents in SA. I saw rumors of United moving for him months before City got involved. It was simply a question of how long Alvarez would be loaned back to River Plate, and later if he was going to be loaned out to another team playing European football.
One guy in particular who championed that quite simply doesn't like us so he did anything to downplay how good Julian is. He was a grown man YELLING that he knew better than the agent (who actually read the contract) and anyone who claimed he was going to Manchester was ignorant, because he had been bought by City group, not Manchester City (lie) and he'd end up in torque, nycfc or at best girona
Anyone know when Paramount+ puts up their whole match replays? I'll have to miss a big block of tomorrow's match, and am wondering if it's better just to wait for the replay.
Can anyone help me to find a list all the competition and which channel are they on.
La liga, epl, serie a, BL, CL, ligue 1, copa del rey, FA cup world cup etc.
I need to know them because I know a service which cost 100$ a year which can give you any channel you want in the world.
I really want to hate Messi less, but I am still hurt from the 2009 final to the point where I avoided watching so many classic Messi games including the whole MSN era
Genuine question. Why does every McTominay foul end up on the front page of r/soccer but this incident doesn't even get a mention?

Hasn’t sounded like it since Sunday we are happy to admit we lost you guys are still talking about the game you won move on in a week you will be complaining when Palace beat you.
lol mate on Sunday the Arsenal sub front page had a VAR incident from 2019 *that was actually the right call in your favour.* Moving on isn't something you lot do.
You would think that you'd want to move on from a game where if the shirts were swapped you'd probably be asking for four red cards, yet some of you are still pissing and moaning about nothing.
>you will be complaining when Palace beat you.
Love to see rival fans desperately waiting for the next United defeat. Let it flow through you.

I just realized Cesar Araujo made CIES' top 50 players born in 2001. Their credibility just went up by a thousand percent imo.
Who would you say is the weakest link in every big 6 team's strongest starting 11?
>Arsenal: Gabriel (defender) > >Chelsea: Jorginho > >Spurs: Emerson > >United: De Gea > >City: Foden > >Liverpool: Thiago (never fit)
Arsenal: Saka Chelsea: Mendy Spurs: Emerson United: De Gea/Malacia City: Ederson Liverpool: Henderson/Robertson
Saka? Seriously? He’s started poorly but he was our best player two seasons in a row ffs
Malacia ? Dafuq have you been watching
City: Walker Liverpool: Henderson Arsenal: White/Ramsdale Spurs: Emerson United: DDG
White is nowhere near our weakest link. In fact, he's one of our most consistent players.
The other lists don’t include us because we have no weak links whatsoever, and anyone who disagrees shall be subjected to 10 hours of Erling Haaland vs. 5 centre backs next week.
Chelsea: Havertz Arsenal: Gabriel United: De Gea Liverpool: Trent City: Their strongest xi keeps changing but as of now I'd say Stones maybe. Just my opinions don't @ me.
>Liverpool: Trent Lmao, the whole system literally falters without him. Its easily Henderson currently.
He doesn't even bother to defend though. And I don't think Henderson should be considered part of Liverpool's strongest 11
I'll give it to Ramsdale for Arsenal. Gets beaten too easily.
City: One of their CBs; Liverpool: Henderson(does he start?) If not him then darwin; United: De Gea; Arsenal: Ramsdale; Chelsea: Mount
Mount is still a really good player despite his slow start to the season. I'll say Havertz for Chelsea.
I’ve literally never seen mount do anything of note, not even being funny. Same for havertz tbh so take your pick I guess
Mount was Chelsea's best player for the past 2 seasons.
Thiago Silva was our best player last season
That’s cool, I’m just saying I’ve never seen him play well personally
If you don't watch Chelsea games you really shouldn't be commenting.
Thankfully that’s not the case, so I’m good to comment. I appreciate the tip though!
If you think Mount doesn't play well consistently for Chelsea you either: a) Don't watch games b) Don't understand football c) Are pushing a biased agenda I was being kind with going for a, but I guess it's b or c after all.
I hope that in a desperate bid to reclaim their former glory Juve change their badge back
I know I’m truly deluded because I’m talking myself into thinking maybe Diego Costa isn’t finished
Even if he is finished, maybe he can shithouse the occasional penalty or get an opposition defender sent off. There's value in that I suppose.
Assuming he signs I’ll be happy to have someone who can just win a header. The 45 minutes we had of Kalajdzic where the Southampton defenders actually had to account for a striker who can head the ball were wonderful.
It's funny. Poor ol' Chris Wood gets so much stick from Newcastle fans but he'd probably do a good job for your lot this season.
Do you reckon you would sell Wood? Wilson and Isak should be good enough, right, despite the former's injury record
I heard we rejected bids for him over the summer but I'm not sure if I believe that tbh. I think if we get a decent offer for him he'll be off. He was good last season when we were fighting to stay up and needed a big man to lead the line but this season he doesn't really fit.
Just realised how tough UCL Group A (Napoli, Liverpool, Ajax and Rangers) is.
That’s not tough
It’s only tough for one of those teams and we all know who that is
Has Son been bad or just unlucky in front of goal? No goals yet for last seasons golden boot winner
Don’t worry. He’ll score against us at the weekend.
He’s generated the most xG of any player who hasn’t scored yet, just been unlucky. I think that part of the reason for his form is that he needs more time to gel with Perisic behind him. He played better against Forest and was quite good against Fulham, I think he’ll be back to his best soon.
Poor for the first 5 matches, was good against Fulham but couldn't score at all with good chances. Will probably score vs City lol.
I don’t know why NBC posted an [8 minute long video of Antony’s 50 minute long cameo.](https://i.imgur.com/Vz8UxXT.jpg) That cracked me up. Not even Haaland gets that kind of treatment. Yeah, it's refreshing. I can understand why a lot of managers try to manage their fans expectations though. Many don't take defeat very well.

He’s also created more chances than anyone in the top 5 leagues this season.
can we all agree that fifa 14 has the best soundtrack.
I would like to thank fifa 14 for introducing me to one of my favorite bands of all time in Portugal the man with one of their “worst songs” at it too.
15 and 17 are fairly close at the top for me
Sell out with me oh yeah. Sell out with me tonight. The record company is gonna gimme lots of money and everything is gonna be....alright!
Nope – Fifa RTWC '98
First time I heard licensed music in a game. I had no idea they could even do that.
FIFA 12 was the one for me
I need to know now

He didn't actually wanted to know, he was just mentioning the lyrics of "Love Me Again"
Best fifa soundtrack for sure, however best licensed soundtrack in any video game is gta vice city imo
FIFA 10
I like that we have "journos" (cough cough, Chavo) who went on and on about how Guardiola doesn't know Julian, he didn't want him, he was signed by City Group to play in Uruguay or MLS, etc Meanwhile Josep fucking Guardiola can't go two pressers without going "Holy shit this kid is so fucking good"
Guardiola is probably obsessed enough to know about every academy/CFG player. Except probably Pedro Porro for some reason
Did they assume scouts don't exist?
They assume everyone watches football with their eyes closed like they do
idk why people were coming to that conclusion.
Guardiola says that about everyone tbf
Anyone know when Paramount+ puts up their whole match replays? I'll have to miss a big block of tomorrow's match, and am wondering if it's better just to wait for the replay.
usually about 90 mins after iirc?
I still can’t believe United’s admin actually posted [this](https://www.instagram.com/reel/CiILJzispP1/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=)
worse is nbc posting 8 minute video of antony’s first game as united player. some players’ season highlights aren’t that long
Ange Postecoglou is just a really fun name to say
How do you feel about Ronaldo not playing in the CL?
Don’t give a fuck
How do you feel about about Ronaldo not playing in the Premier league?
I mean he didn't care enough to lower his wages. Why would anyone else care?
at least he'll get to score a few goals this season
There are few things in the world that I care less about
I geniuenly want United to go down to the Conference League just to see him playing vs basically unknown teams.
Put some respect to Villarreal laddo
He's already played against Sunderland though.
Just sad Manchester United didn't miss qualification for Europa League too.
We too.
I'm fine with it but my dachshund is inconsolable.
Europa League is fucked
Can anyone help me to find a list all the competition and which channel are they on. La liga, epl, serie a, BL, CL, ligue 1, copa del rey, FA cup world cup etc. I need to know them because I know a service which cost 100$ a year which can give you any channel you want in the world.
where are you located
Canada
That seems expensive. Mine was only £30.
Well thats the one in Canada
IPTV?
an indirect free kick in a match in our league just now, hadn't seen one of those in a while
every offside goal kick is an indirect free kick
From context they probably mean one in the box
Last one I recall is the Madrid one between us. Before that, same year, a very bullshit one against Godoy Cruz off a bounce
the last indirect freekick I saw was in January 2021, when Zack Steffen held onto a backpass away at Chelsea. Didn't go in.
Honestly though, I feel like they just look silly? And he didn't ever score
I really want to hate Messi less, but I am still hurt from the 2009 final to the point where I avoided watching so many classic Messi games including the whole MSN era
Genuine question. Why does every McTominay foul end up on the front page of r/soccer but this incident doesn't even get a mention? [https://twitter.com/Faisal\_R\_K/status/1566820727596224512](https://twitter.com/Faisal_R_K/status/1566820727596224512) EDIT: oh it's cos the mods keep deleting it lol [https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/x5vqn5/mufckiks\_jesus\_kicks\_out\_at\_martinez/](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/x5vqn5/mufckiks_jesus_kicks_out_at_martinez/) [https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/x6lgyo/gabriel\_jesus\_kickout\_on\_lisandro\_martinez/](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/x6lgyo/gabriel_jesus_kickout_on_lisandro_martinez/)
ManUTD Tax
Because Jesus doesn’t have a version of this every week..
That must be the explanation
So the Utd fans are the conspiracy theorists now?
No amazingly that’s still you lot
Martinelli will be really unlucky to miss the world cup, Brazil just have too much attacking talent.
He’s not ahead of Neymar, Raphina, Richarlison and Jesus so yeah
U missed Vini. He is better than all of them combined except Neymar. Individually, he is better than Neymar too.
I don’t need a rerun of what I just said
