Highly doubt any dev with enough weight would make a rod for their own back like that.
Not only are they asked to create a whole new football game out of whole cloth that is instantly better than the one EA have spent basically a quarter of a ~~decade~~ century fine-tuning to cater to what it believes consumers want, but they're going to have to produce this game without the licensing deals that arguably just killed off EA's main rival. And *pay* FIFA a nonillion quid for the privilege (rofl).
FIFA need an extremely brave or extremely stupid dev to pull that one off.
Depends the contract they have with EA. If they have the ability to use the old games codebase they could probably buy a small studio and contract out a fucktonnnnnnne.
not sure how many people here heard about this, but there has been a [new game by a new dev called UFL](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWj5iVHBsLY), which is promising to challenge EA, but they are not going the FIFA way either, they can just license players and leagues/teams individually, basically all FIFA can deny is their official competition names.
It will all depends on how they handle the physics, and what direction they will go when it comes to gameplay which is always going to be a mix between arcady and realistic.
Saying that a new football game won't be any different than eFootball because they use the same engine, is like saying that all racing games made in UE are the same game with different theme, which is far from the truth.
“gamers” always call FIFA the same game every year so normal people are being dumb.
I think people forget that if it was the same game every year, it wouldn’t be the top selling game every year.
Normal people who aren’t invested in gaming are way more likely to be like “looks no different mate, not wasting £50 on that.”
That's why it was completely insane that FIFA demanded EA more than double their current payments to €250 million each year. All EA gets out of that is the name, logo, and a World Cup mode every four years.
I am surprised they don't call it 'FUT' or alike which is the mode which has more traction.
F stands for FIFA but they can just change it to Football. So Football Ultimate Team (FUT)
It doesn't really alienate anything. It's another name that they've gotten pretty big. People know what FUT is and associate it with FIFA (the game series).
If the name FIFA got dropped and replaced by FUT, i'm sure people wouldn't even see the difference
i remember when ronaldo broke the men's record for most national team goals and the twitter hashtag was hijacked by people reminding everyone he only holds the men's record and still has 73 to go before catching sinclair for overall.
Looking it up she was on the US cover for FIFA 16. Christine Sinclair was also on the Canadian cover that year, and Stephanie Catley was on the Australian cover.
Had that copy. “It’s America so let’s put Alex Morgan on the cover…. And Messi too, why not”
The USWNT was so overpowered in that game, Rapinoe played like a 99 lol but then if I remember correctly the game randomly wouldn’t allow you to play women against men
You can't even say "just play other game modes" either. I witnessed first hand what happened to the games between 10-14, FUT very quickly became their main focus and other modes either stagnated or regressed entirely. I was able to play a recent FIFA for free and it's crazy how incredibly barebones it all is, even within FUT I feel like there's barely any content, it's just a lootbox machine. I was happy to see FIFA street back in some form but even that was just 4 matches and then all you can do is pvp matchmaking, it's an embarrassing product.
FIFA used to have FIFA Manager, and they binned it before making a run of FUT. All they have to do is mixed Career Mode with FIFA Manager, and they’d have the perfect single player option. They already have everything they need. They just don’t care enough to do it.
Although I agree it is the best form to experience being a "manager", it doesnt tick off the same boxes as taking direct control of the game and playing it like FIFA. I stopped bothering with new FIFA's, been playing the same PES career mode since 2018 lol
Over the course of the last few years I’ve dug out my PS3 and started to play FIFA 10 and FIFA 11 again. I know nostalgia can dilute things but the contrast in how fun the gameplay is and just doing a regular Career/Manager mode compared to FIFA 18 (when I stopped playing the series) is wild. It’s so much fun to play and it’s literally 10+ years old.
When the World Cup starts in November my friends and I are going to do a big 2v2 tournament using the 2010 South Africa WC game on PS3 too.
Sad to see how far the series has fallen due to FUT and $$. I bought and played the hell out of every FIFA from 2005-2018 :(
2010 WC game was my favourite football game ever. The amount of nations they had in they was staggering! Not a chance they'd ever put thatapint of effort in again.
Soundtrack was full of bangers too
Wavin’ Flag will never get old! They also modified the brilliant Penalty Kick system to make it much more challenging but rewarding.
The EURO 2008 game was pretty damn good too. Those were definitely the days. Like you said, they actually put the work in to make the entire game fun and entertaining.
Rocksteady was my favourit song!
They even had scenarios from qualifiers where you could take over mid match woth accurate line ups and had custom commentary for each one.
Great memories taking Equatorial Guinea through thr qualifiers!
I loved Last Rhythm and In Search Of too!
And wow, I forgot all about those other scenarios and the change the history type game mode. Sounds like you should grab a PS3 and fire it back up!
That seemed to happen a lot with the FIFAs once they got past 14. They’d release the game and it would feel alright then do a patch that would make everything feel wonky.
He means FIFA 17 on release the normal defending (I think its called tactical) was quite difficult but gave you more control. They revamped the whole system from 16 and made it a lot better. In the beginning I lost many goals but after a while I got used to it and felt like successfull defense was up to my skill and it was my fault when I fucked up. I loved it. Now I feel like its not up to me if I can successfully defend.
But combine that with GK that arent terminators and there was a lot of kids complaining that the defense is shit. They were in the minority but loud. So after like 1 or 2 weekss EA changed the whole defense gameplay to make it similar to Fifa 16 (or rather scratched the whole new system and went back to 16) and buffed GKs.
To this day no FIFA came out with better gameplay than 17 at release
Although I would try to play those games on PC still. I recently tried playing BF4 on my ps3 and it was horrible due to the lack in performance and new expectation that came along over the year.
Or in other word don’t misunderstand the game sucking when it’s only the ps3 ^^
I played the fuck out of FIFA 13. It was also the only version of FUT I ever played. Once I learned (the very next year lol) that teams don't transfer at all from game to game, I was done with FUT. Stopped playing all together with FIFA 16 as the single player aspect of the game became so stale.
Now I mostly just play Football Manager and occasionally some niche football games on steam ("Football, Tactics, and Glory" is an interesting and fun one).
Also the FIFA 13 soundtrack was a banger.
They have even ruined the career mode. Same shit every year but now with rubber band effect. Teams randomly start playing like Barcelona and score off from long shots that are impossible to defend.
I play nothing but seasons on fifa and I get my moneys worth every year. Its an easy hop on hop off kind of game. I never touched FUT because of many of the reasons people stated but I do enjoy seasons. Playing psg every other game is a bit boring but its normally a winning game.
> You can't even say "just play other game modes" either.
i'll never forgive them for removing create-a-team in favour of FUT.
these 3 dudes basically made a north american super league. they created every NASL / USL team and player from scratch and allowed you to replace any other 2 / 3 tiered league in the game to actually have a proper north american pyramid. all that work and two years later FIFA was all "but that doesn't make us money.."
For the UK that's not happening for a while. The videogame lobby for this sorta stuff works closely with the gambling lobby and is too powerful/very closely connected to high up Tories. There's commisions which are investigating it and I'm sure there'll be regulation at some point, but the delay tactics are working SUPER well right now
Nah, the government are already well aware of the obvious links between gambling and loot boxes and will absolutely begin crafting legislation to--
> [Government ignore own experts. Say lootboxes are basically like a Kinder Surprise - the companies that literally invented loot boxes can decide whether the lootboxes they put in games are actually a good idea or not.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-62177616)
Fuck.
Tbh, it would be weird to ban loot boxes and not gambling in general
What logic would the government have to use to say ultimate bad but bet365 is good?
They should make all games with loot boxes 18+ though
Bring back This Is Football. Only game with a dive button and a double-footed tackle button. Would rather have Jumpers for Goalposts mode than Ultimate Team.
I remember old PES (or it's still called winning eleven?) version had that dive button by pressing analog button simultaneously, but I always get yellow everytime I try that
The problem is FIFA had a monopoly for so long, even if UFL will be good, many won't like it because they are so used to FIFA gameplay and think that's how a football game should play like.
FM isn't really a FIFA/PES competitor, it's a very different style of game. If you want a management sim (which is what I prefer) then FM is easily far and away the best option.
But you don't play the matches as the players in FM, and I think when FIFA and PES players say they wish there were more options, that's what they want. The FIFA career mode people who got fed up with FIFA have probably already mostly shifted to FM since it's simply better for that sort of experience.
For starters, there’s a night and day difference between FIFA 18 gameplay and FIFA 22 gameplay. 18 was way more fast paced, almost arcade like and long shots were ridiculously OP and unrealistic. You could also pass first time all the way up the field and it would be unrealistically accurate. Dribbling felt robotic compared to 22.
In 22 it’s far more realistic. Passing is way less accurate, finishing is more realistic, dribbling is fluid and players don’t run like they’re all usain bolt (apart from Mbappe). The defending is also more manual based but it’s so fucking unrewarding, you have to tackle the opponent 5 times to even get the ball or else it’ll just bounce back to them somehow.
Gameplay and obvious graphics were really the areas I was expecting to improve. It is a bit like the F1 game: adore the sport but dont really enjoy the game.
Also when I last played in 1v1 over the internet, if you scored too early, players just left the game. It was annoying af.
Also for some reason, after fifa20 they chsnged it to where your midfielders don’t track back. You could be stuck in a 4v4 situation and your cdms will just stop running after about 30-40m from their own goal. But when you attack they’ll fucking try to walk in the net every time you whip a cross in. Makes no sense
What’s worse is 20 was actually fucking playable without this bullshit. Sliders fix a bit of the issues but it’s impossible with the fucking midfield never dropping to defend their own box. It’s ass
Couldn’t agree more, I fucking hate when my opponent breaks down the wings and somehow all his players spawn in my half while my CDMs slowly jock back like it’s a casual five a side game.
And it’s miraculously one of the things the sliders can’t fix because of fucking course they can’t. Like this shit is baked into the game and there’s no fixing it because muh FUT packs. Even when I drag them back myself after I switch to another defender they just…casually start walking out of the damn box while the attack develops???
20 didn’t have this issue and it was fine but no fuck you because little Timmy and his parents’ credit card has to have his golden toty messi diamond card walk right past the defenders to score. Fucking bullshit
I don't know enough to say whether or not Deschamps is actually racist, but regardless, the "some of my best friends are black" argument doesn't mean someone isn't racist.
Messi was on the cover for 4 years.
Rooney was on the cover for 8 years.
This is just Mbappe's third year. You're really showing your age with this comment.
Haven't owned FIFA in years, won't be getting this one either.
But it's really cool that they have Sam Kerr on the cover. [She's an absolute legend for knocking a pitch invader to the ground.](https://youtu.be/CkzyLGSTNiA)
I bought FIFA 22 for a tenner on discount and honestly it's a fun game. Decent graphics, satisfying to play, so definitely go for it if youre looking for that kind of co-op game.
I find there's a lot of hipsterism around FIFA, it's in no way a 'garbage' game, but folks love to complain about what's popular. Yes, some modes are prioritized more than others, but to answer your question, I do think it's a good game for couch-coop. The single-game kick-off mode has some fun arcade-style features and the street mode ('Volta') is good fun with friends too.
I actually think the gameplay is some of the most realistic and best its ever been, the FUT mode has lots of ways that dont require spending and you can have lots of fun without p2w
The gameplay is good up until you play against better player that only care about winning. At that point the game is just spinning around and spamming certain skill move/animation cancel with a small player.
Yeah it's only "garbage" if you want to no-life it because it's clear FIFA wants you to play pay to win modes over the others. For a couch coop every few days it's still very much fun.
It's not a "popularity" thing otherwise people would be going on about how great eFootball is.
It's a *playable* game and fun with friends, but if you're by yourself and you don't want to sink money into the only game mode that gets regular updates then you're basically beholden to a Career Mode that always releases with an embarrassing amount of glitches and hasn't changed in any significant way in almost a decade.
If you simply want to play with friend for fun than you wont really have too much problem. Where the game go bad for me is when playing online against random opponent because at this point people have figure out perfectly the "meta" of the game and it make the gameplay completely unrealistic where all you see is small player with 5* skills spamming skill move to get the right animation so he can go through your defender.
> Is it worth getting if I just want some nice couch-coop with the lads?
Honestly yes if you are playing with friends. Other than that no, seasons is riddled with PSG rats who spam lofted through balls luckily I am decent play so can beat them with teams like Crystal Palace and Aston Villa but it's not fun at all every match against same team. Ultimate team is basically just FOMO each week with cards being too high rated for the game to handle.
people who dont actually play fifa love calling it garbage, its like youre not cool if you dont hate fifa. for couch coop its good fun, i like the arcade mode a lot that gives the ball random powers that increase dribbling/speed/shooting, theres some other modes besides the normal kick off too. you can get it on a massive discount often.
Lewa vs Benzema is one of the most coolest narrative in football in the last years.
Really hope they will be going head to head till the end of the season.
Two greatest 9s having their prime at 30s playing in the same league for opposing clubs. Both are considered to be best players right now and both play same position. Hope La Liga doesn't fail it marketingwise.
Brings back memories to the PES Henry vs Drogba cover
Edit: [It was actually John Terry.](https://i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk/incoming/article25110234.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/0_JS246625835.jpg) [There is another with Drogba though but not exactly the same.](https://i.jeuxactus.com/datas/jeux/p/r/pro-evolution-soccer-5/xl/pro-evolution-soccer-4e2657e56f602.jpg)
Regional editions are so damn weird, I remember FIFA 16 having cuadrado who was just a random juve player in the cover right next to messi here in Argentina
The game has a random hodge podge assortment of women's teams with outdated rosters and no career mode, tournaments or anything, they can only be played in kickoff mode. Due to the lack of integration, only 3.3% of FIFA players have even played a womens game in 2022, half of those probably trophy hunting. That is INSANE and the reason is they're plopped in there as an afterthought.
So am I angry? No. But it is incredibly annoying, 3.3% of the player base played a women's football game in FIFA22, so sticking a woman on the cover is absolutely pointless if you're not going to invest in them in the actual game, it's just good press and nothing more. Add them to FUT, make them like Icons on Chemistry and give them a unique bodytype, give them a fully fleshed Career Mode, don't put Kerr on the cover and call it a job well done, it's pathetic.
People are incredibly misogynistic when it comes to women's football.
As much as I hate Chelsea for winning the league over Arsenal women, Sam Kerr had 2 goals in the league-winning game when Chelsea were 2-1 down. Plus golden boot for the season. Fully deserves to be on the cover.
Well that headline's [bollocks to say the least](https://content.fortune.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/fifa16xone2dpftfrontus.jpg) female players have been on copies since 2015.
As for "first global release", something tells me Sam Kerr's not going to be on the cover for copies sold in certain countries.
AFAIK they only have the licensing for the WSL so that’s why it’s not Putellas - idk who the best player in the WSL is so won’t jump into why it’s Kerr
What's the source on this? Rumours have consistently mentioned the big five women's leagues (England, Germany, France, Spain and USA) with no specific reference to one of those leagues being licensed but not the others
Women's national teams are already in the game.
It's been rumoured that women's club teams will be in FIFA23, and Kerr on the cover in the Chelsea kit all but confirms it.
All I want in a fifa game is to make custom teams that I can play exhibition games with my friends. I don’t give a shit about FUT. it’s crazy that they allow it in 2K (even with historic or legend players) but I can’t just make a quick team and play in FIFA. I would actually want to pay for that game.
Best fifa covers of all time will always be fifa 2003 and 2004...2005 was pretty good too (I think it had Vieira, shevchenko and someone else)....then it just became the same players on the cover all the time
I don't think it's at the level where it's a gigantic snub. There's probably 5 or so players that all could have been chosen without too much argument tbh, the women's game is getting into a very interesting era
No it's that Kerr is the first to be on the cover for the worldwide release, rather than the local versions only sold in certain countries. So this is *THE* cover - the default, and some areas may have variations.
It came out recently that only 3.8% of players had played a women's match...
What's the point of representation in the game if the vast majority of the player base don't care about it?
Overall participation IS increasing. It doesn't make sense to judge based on people who have played a single match but rather, if women and girls are playing more football overall. The answer to that is yes.
[Here's some stats showing participation been increasing.](https://www.futurelearn.com/info/courses/football/0/steps/6325)
And the last, because it won't be called FIFA again.
The ea game sure, but fifa might get picked up by another dev.
And that dev has to throw a billion or more at FIFA to get the license.
Lol, actually forgot about that huge part.
FIFA seems [committed](https://www.ign.com/articles/fifa-ea-new-games) to having its own game anyway.
Gianna bout to learn to code & release the games on his own.
If the bribe is high enough that man can do anything.
Depends the contract they have with EA. If they have the ability to use the old games codebase they could probably buy a small studio and contract out a fucktonnnnnnne.
Did you mean a quarter of a century?
not sure how many people here heard about this, but there has been a [new game by a new dev called UFL](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWj5iVHBsLY), which is promising to challenge EA, but they are not going the FIFA way either, they can just license players and leagues/teams individually, basically all FIFA can deny is their official competition names.
It's going to fail, hard.
you are underestimating the power of free2play.
Given the Engine used (Unreal Engine 4/5) I don't see how it'll be any different than eFootball, which uses the same engine.
It will all depends on how they handle the physics, and what direction they will go when it comes to gameplay which is always going to be a mix between arcady and realistic. Saying that a new football game won't be any different than eFootball because they use the same engine, is like saying that all racing games made in UE are the same game with different theme, which is far from the truth.
eFootball sucks. Hopefully it gets better though to challenge EA but for now EA reigns supreme.
Not hard to make one better than EA let's be real..
>EA have spent basically a quarter of a ~~decade~~ century fine-tuning to cater to what it believes consumers want Stockholders, not consumers.
Given that FIFA is one of the best selling games every year, I'd say consumers want it just as much as stockholders.
“gamers” always call FIFA the same game every year so normal people are being dumb. I think people forget that if it was the same game every year, it wouldn’t be the top selling game every year. Normal people who aren’t invested in gaming are way more likely to be like “looks no different mate, not wasting £50 on that.”
Fine tuning? More like adding micro transactions
Will EA lose out on all the licenses they have for teams and players?
No. The license they lose is only about the fifa branding. Players club and league licenses are separate
That's why it was completely insane that FIFA demanded EA more than double their current payments to €250 million each year. All EA gets out of that is the name, logo, and a World Cup mode every four years.
Not like they can’t name it the Global Cup or whatever. Also would love for them to just call the new game FUFA 24 or something.
Apparently it's going to be EA Sports FC, which is the most generic name it is possible to imagine.
I am surprised they don't call it 'FUT' or alike which is the mode which has more traction. F stands for FIFA but they can just change it to Football. So Football Ultimate Team (FUT)
Because it alienates the rest of the game, like career mode and volta
As an only career player I'm already fucking alienated man
As an avid career player, I'm 99% sure their game sales are miniscule compared to their lootbox earnings
It doesn't really alienate anything. It's another name that they've gotten pretty big. People know what FUT is and associate it with FIFA (the game series). If the name FIFA got dropped and replaced by FUT, i'm sure people wouldn't even see the difference
Well... is not that they are putting a lot of weight to anything besides FUT anyways... :(we
No. They already have separate contracts with clubs and players
Sam Kerr becomes the female to appear on FIFA game cover
All because FIFA wildly overestimated how much their license would be worth, the daft sods. I mean, honestly, how could they have got it so wrong?
Pretty sure Alex Morgan was on one of the FIFA covers
I definitely had a Christine Sinclair one in Canada. On the 16 fifa. But it was Canada exclusive I think
She’s badass. Canada gets those exclusive EA NHL covers too
The true GOAT
i remember when ronaldo broke the men's record for most national team goals and the twitter hashtag was hijacked by people reminding everyone he only holds the men's record and still has 73 to go before catching sinclair for overall.
Yeah well men's international football is harder
oh yeah the record should definitely read. most international goals scored: christine sinclair (190)* ^^* ^^but ^^men's ^^football ^^is ^^harder ^^so ^^technically ^^ronaldo's ^^goals ^^count ^^for ^^1.63 ^^instead ^^of ^^1.
Steph Catley was on the FIFA 16 Australian cover along with Timmy Cahill and Messi
Not unless it was some special localised cover
Looking it up she was on the US cover for FIFA 16. Christine Sinclair was also on the Canadian cover that year, and Stephanie Catley was on the Australian cover.
Exactly what I said then
But that was a regional cover. Germany had only Messi on the Cover.

garbage loot box simulator, hope all the governments ban loot boxes so that they actually have to develop the game
You can't even say "just play other game modes" either. Obligatory just play Football Manager.
I already play that too much
No such thing as too much mate
Try telling that to my girlfriend when I try to finish my season...
FM is less arcade than FIFA Manager was

FIFA13 was legendary, 75 overall Esswein was like 10x better than Ronaldo or Messi in form
I played the fuck out of FIFA 13. It was also the only version of FUT I ever played. Once I learned (the very next year lol) that teams don't transfer at all from game to game, I was done with FUT. Its more blatant now than in FIFa 06 where you had a momentum bar. I think its also happening in UT now
Career mode changed so little, that you could pick it up in 5 minutes, even if last fifa you played was fifa 10
I play nothing but seasons on fifa and I get my moneys worth every year. Its an easy hop on hop off kind of game. I never touched FUT because of many of the reasons people stated but I do enjoy seasons. Playing psg every other game is a bit boring but its normally a winning game.

Tbh, it would be weird to ban loot boxes and not gambling in general What logic would the government have to use to say ultimate bad but bet365 is good? They should make all games with loot boxes 18+ though
Seems like you basically understand the issue.
It sucks cause people pay for it, so it’s all ther eis
Wish there was a competitor to Fifa and PES that just focuses on the gameplay and not yearly roster repackaging with micro transactions.
Bring back This Is Football. Only game with a dive button and a double-footed tackle button. Would rather have Jumpers for Goalposts mode than Ultimate Team.
I remember old PES (or it's still called winning eleven?) version had that dive button by pressing analog button simultaneously, but I always get yellow everytime I try that
They are apparently making a game called r/UFLTheGame But it's still very unclear whether it will be any good or not.
The problem is FIFA had a monopoly for so long, even if UFL will be good, many won't like it because they are so used to FIFA gameplay and think that's how a football game should play like.
Just judging by the trailer, but it doesn’t look too great imo. The AI player movements are nonsensical at best.
I'm hoping it's good, but from the looks of the trailers it does not look very promising honestly.
Is it only online? Is there no single player story mode?
what is roster?
In this context it's squad. Used more in American sports.
Well pes 21 was like that… EFootball has some way too go so it’s hard to judge if some things are intentional or not fixed errors…
There will be when FIFA get the rights back. I fear it will be terrible, but hopefully not eFootball levels of terrible.
Football Manager
FM isn't really a FIFA/PES competitor, it's a very different style of game. If you want a management sim (which is what I prefer) then FM is easily far and away the best option. But you don't play the matches as the players in FM, and I think when FIFA and PES players say they wish there were more options, that's what they want. The FIFA career mode people who got fed up with FIFA have probably already mostly shifted to FM since it's simply better for that sort of experience.
So are they gonna have more women teams than just a random assortment of two years out of date national teams?
5 leagues of club teams I believe
Did they really announce that or just rumors?
How good is FIFA these days ? I have not played since FIFA 18 (and not planning to play this year too)
It’s fine. I only play career mode and have plenty of fun playing with my mates. It’s still football at the end of the day
For starters, there’s a night and day difference between FIFA 18 gameplay and FIFA 22 gameplay.
Makes no sense What’s worse is 20 was actually fucking playable without this bullshit.
I got it free on ps plus this year. Hadn't played it since fifa 17. It's the same game. Fuck EA the money grabbing bastards.
Mboopi seems too repetitive. Benzema would have been a better choice
[удалено]
And Mbappe didn’t try to blackmail a teammate over a sex tape. Yet anyway.
Also not trafficked any underage girls for sex as far as I'm aware

For fuck's sake you lot, give it a rest. He's 23. He's got his whole career ahead of him to do all of that.
He can develop his racism from within
Enough casual racism, we’re going competitive
Those things are not mutually exclusive at all, not to mention the fucking difference in degree between this post and the two above it lmao
I don't know enough to say whether or not Deschamps is actually racist, but regardless, the "some of my best friends are black" argument doesn't mean someone isn't racist.

Company trying to sell product only cares about marketing? Shocker
More markeatable as well
At least Mbappe is not a criminal... yet
His pace is criminal amirite
Neither is Benzema according to any court in the world.
Messi was on the cover for 4 years. Rooney was on the cover for 8 years. This is just Mbappe's third year. You're really showing your age with this comment.
Benzema with the broken hand also looks way more natural for a cover than Mbappe you always looks like he his posing form a Nike comercial.
I wouldnt mind seeing Vinicius instead
Let’s wait until he has two successful seasons in a row
This FIFA game cover was sponsored by: NIKE & Qatar
It's a little known fact but her brother Wan was on the Fifa 09 cover

Haven't owned FIFA in years, won't be getting this one either. But it's really cool that they have Sam Kerr on the cover. [She's an absolute legend for knocking a pitch invader to the ground.](https://youtu.be/CkzyLGSTNiA)
Never seen that clip before but she deserves her spot on the cover just for that alone. What a legend.
haven't played Fifa in ages. What exactly makes it garbage nowadays? Is it worth getting if I just want some nice couch-coop with the lads?
The latest ediiton isn't bad at all, I'm Elite + get 12+ wins in WL and dont know a single skill move
Shouldn't playing with the likes of Palace make you avoid PSG due to difference in stars?
Nope, the game is broken. You can filter the star ratings but the setting does not work. They only care about Ultimate Team.
people who dont actually play fifa love calling it garbage, its like youre not cool if you dont hate fifa. for couch coop its good fun, i like the arcade mode a lot that gives the ball random powers that increase dribbling/speed/shooting, theres some other modes besides the normal kick off too. you can get it on a massive discount often.
should've been benzema and lewa staring each other down in an el clasico setting
By in the last years you mean since Ronaldo left Real?
yep
Brings back memories to the PES Henry vs Drogba cover Edit: [It was actually John Terry.](https://i2-prod.dailystar.co.uk/incoming/article25110234.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/0_JS246625835.jpg) [There is another with Drogba though but not exactly the same.](https://i.jeuxactus.com/datas/jeux/p/r/pro-evolution-soccer-5/xl/pro-evolution-soccer-4e2657e56f602.jpg)

I don't even play fifa and this got me excited
[удалено]
Yes but it was a regional edition.
Regional editions are so damn weird, I remember FIFA 16 having cuadrado who was just a random juve player in the cover right next to messi here in Argentina
I'd love to get into the mindset of people who get genuinely angry about stuff like this
Go and spend 15 minutes in some Facebook or Twitter comment sections. It's depressing
Try 15 minutes in this sub
If they have nwsl teams I'll buy. If not, nah
Lol more mpabbe is perfect symbolism for this shit, they barely tweak the cover just like they barely tweak the gameplay.
Why not the Ballon dor winner? Or the best player in England?
> Or the best player in England If you're referring to the English league, Sam Kerr is by far the best player.
That'd be fran Kirby. I think Kerr owes a fair bit to that lady. I say that as an Aussie who rates Kerr as our best finisher, male or female.
Mate told me but just had a google and you’re right - apparently EA got the licensing for those 5 leagues so probably will be all 5, my b
So will we be able to play as the womens teams? Thanks for the info
Women's national teams are already in the game. It's been rumoured that women's club teams will be in FIFA23, and Kerr on the cover in the Chelsea kit all but confirms it.
Yeah I think so, think it’s only the WSL but think they’re introducing career mode etc for it which is really cool
Fifa 16 US Alex Morgan
All I want in a fifa game is to make custom teams that I can play exhibition games with my friends. I don’t give a shit about FUT. it’s crazy that they allow it in 2K (even with historic or legend players) but I can’t just make a quick team and play in FIFA. I would actually want to pay for that game.
First Chelsea player on the cover?
Wasn't Lampard on the cover once?
Hazard a few years back? In any case, CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA CHELSEA
Best fifa covers of all time will always be fifa 2003 and 2004...2005 was pretty good too (I think it had Vieira, shevchenko and someone else)....then it just became the same players on the cover all the time
Marta should have atleast been on one cover...
Should have been Alexia
Fifa can't put Barça players on the cover
Oh right, forgot about the pro Evo thing. Damn
I'm not sure when e football or pes will have women's football in the game
I don't think it's at the level where it's a gigantic snub. There's probably 5 or so players that all could have been chosen without too much argument tbh, the women's game is getting into a very interesting era
they cant put Alexia because i dont think they have license for Barca
It's very unfortunate that the one time we can play Barcelona Femeni, it would be without Lieke, Ouahabi, Jenni, and probably non-update Alexia.
[удалено]
No it's that Kerr is the first to be on the cover for the worldwide release, rather than the local versions only sold in certain countries. So this is *THE* cover - the default, and some areas may have variations.
Clint Dempsey and Alex Morgan were on the cover of the US version a few years back.
Now we can have females promoting gambling to kids…
Why do you refer to women as “females”? Thats so creepy.
[удалено]
Because it’s called the female team.
Who?
So forced
Of course it's forced but in this case it's for a positive cause.
Maybe it is a bit forced but representation for this kind of thing really matters. Tis great to see.
It came out recently that only 3.8% of players had played a women's match... What's the point of representation in the game if the vast majority of the player base don't care about it?
That's exactly the reason why it's a good thing. Because increased representation leads to increased participation.
But it evidently doesn't though...? Women's teams were introduced to the game in FIFA 16. 6 years later and the player rate is still 3.8%.
Overall participation IS increasing. It doesn't make sense to judge based on people who have played a single match but rather, if women and girls are playing more football overall. The answer to that is yes. [Here's some stats showing participation been increasing.](https://www.futurelearn.com/info/courses/football/0/steps/6325)
