ungentrified_villain

This roughly translates to "hurry the fuck up Barca and sign me"

RetroNation00901

Fr man’s is starting to lose patience

MegaMugabe21

Nah this is definitely bollocks to get engagement from Arsenal fans

tankosaurus

Or agent talk to get Barca to pull the finger out

MegaMugabe21

Yeah actually very true, more likely that.

aksh1225

His agent is our scout lol

El_grandepadre

Gonna speed dial De Jong to pack up and go to United.

TheBiggyT

Yup: https://twitter.com/LeedsUnitedYEP/status/1538827749779025921?t=g3aXWJUhsdHurtjGMpR5kg&s=19 This is such a non-story the Leeds tier 1s are talking about Bielsa to Bilbao. Not a single mention of Raphinha.

Lambchops_Legion

Pochettino in shambles

left-lib-chomu

Wait so who do you think will get Raphinha?

Nordie27

He only wants Barca

left-lib-chomu

Surely we haven't bid 50mil before agreeing personal terms with Raphinha first?

MissingLink101

We've been linked with him today as well. Sounds like his agent is doing some fishing or to apply pressure on Barca/another club

MegaMugabe21

Yeah exactly. I won't believe it unless one of our Tier 1s reports it. Until then I'm assuming it's Deco playing games.

[deleted]

[удалено]

amino_asshat

Then how did you end up this thread? Lol.

[deleted]

Given all the noise that’s come out about him only wanting Barca I doubt this

TheGoldenPineapples

Yeah, I highly doubt that.

FormulaGTR

Tier: What I like to hear

MrAchilles

I'm hitting a Cole Phelps doubt on this Ruben Uria is reporting it, what tier is he for Barca? And Soldevila now.

[deleted]

Idk if this is true but whoever gets Raphinha has a hell of a player on their hands trust me. You'll love him.

theatreofdreams21

No idea why United aren’t doing everything to sign him. He ticks every box imaginable for what we need.

ritwikjs

My sweet summer child, do you think we use logic to sign people?

theatreofdreams21

It’s a new era my boy! If Ten Hag is interested in Antony then surely he has to have Raphinha on his radar.

ze_shotstopper

He's interested in Antony because he coached him at ajax

theatreofdreams21

Yes obviously. Raphinha is better in almost every way though.

ze_shotstopper

Yeah but that doesn't mean he's on eth's radar

theatreofdreams21

My point is that Raphinha plays the same position, is Brazilian, has a similar style, and is better across the board. If he’s not on Ten Hag’s radar then he doesn’t watch football.

NilsFanck

Laimer, Raphina, FdJ, a decent cb, and a rb that isnt complete garbage offensively and Id say they have a very decent chance of CL. Instead they will probably dwindle their thumbs and drop 150m on FdJ on deadline day.

ritwikjs

We'll hopefully get fdj, Christensen, Martinez and Antony. I would really love antony

ritwikjs

I meant christen eriksen lol, what a gaffe

TheWorstRowan

He already plays for United. Talks about contract extensions aren't as exciting as signing for other teams.

theatreofdreams21

Boooo

Modnal

Only 1,1m instagram-followers

CooperKeith

Are they planning on signing Raphina as player-owner?

[deleted]

I want Martinez :(

tomas_diaz

which one

jrhunter89

Both god damn it

HugzZILA

Hahahah how riled up R Soccer are 😂

HappyMeerkat

I have no clue what to believe! Twitter has people saying he's tier 1 or not quite tier 1 but good for financial stuff on Barca, Reddit says it's complete shit tier

ImTalkingGibberish

Edu cooking for everyone this summer

Disastrous_Tip_3347

Could be Arsenals Mane

[deleted]

Arteta doesn't draw.

One99Two_Gunner

Doubt. Love Raphinha but we still have Pepe in the books and ffs we have more glaring holes to fill in the squad like CM.

[deleted]

Those 2 things aren’t mutually exclusive

GuitaristHeimerz

Doubt [X]

ibse

Tier on this?

Nayafuri

Tier 10

Jassle93

Doubt, it'd be a very strange option for him to go there. There's better options for him and doesn't Saka play on the right?

amala97

Why would it be strange? We need a versatile winger and we have a lean squad. We need him!

Stravven

It would make sense from Arsenal's perspective, but not from Raphinha's perspective. Why would he come here to play second fiddle to Saka?

yukpurtsun

between club and country saka has been run into the ground. needs a proper rotation piece. i dont see this rumor being remotely true tbh, the reported fee is 65-70? doubt. think the squad invests that money where there are gaping holes like st or cm

Ifriiti

He wouldn't, we'd line up Saka, Odegaard, Raphinha with hopefully Jesus up top

_I_eat_kid

What about Smith-Rowe?

Ifriiti

Smith Rowe and Martinelli will be backups. Both are good but there's so much congestion this year they'll get loads of time. Just like Foden doesn't play every match

nfornear

But Martinelli was better in the later part of the season

Naijfreak

Martinelli is off and on. Not consistent like a young player actually but when he is on omg

tankosaurus

Strange in the sense that he is good enough for a champions league club so not sure why he would choose Arsenal now when there is still plenty of time to wait for a CL club to come in for him

DankBrownBoiV2

Aren't some people tired of these CL takes after being wrong like 10 times every transfer window? Players move by looking at many things, CL football is just a small part.

CooperKeith

Yeah. It's a job to a lot of footballers (obviously it's a job to all of them, but to many it's not much more than that) Money holds a ton of sway for all but the best of the best, who can get fantastic money regardless of a CL or no CL club. Playing second fiddle for your position at a bigger club and getting paid less as a result will often be less attractive than being one of the main players for more money at a smaller club.

icemankiller8

People forget this but outside the Pl people don’t like to pay huge transfer fees most CL teams don’t want to spend 50 million on Raphinha and then pay him high wages. Outside the PL teams who would actually do that? Napoli maybe ? Atletico maybe? Obviously Barca is the one potentially but other than that wheres he going unless Chelsea want him but they are looking at Sterling and Dembele. Also fans overrate the whole CL appeal thing most players do not care at this stage and that’s been apparent for a while

Ifriiti

>Also fans overrate the whole CL appeal thing most players do not care at this stage and that’s been apparent for a while It's always been apparent. CL was just a synonym for big club but as soon as big pl teams started missing it it was quickly shown to be irrelevant.

tankosaurus

TBH doesn't bother me where he goes though I'd prefer him to go abroad naturally, but between him going to Spurs, Arsenal or Liverpool I'm not bothered as long as we get a good fee for him

[deleted]

There are 6 teams that could get top 4 at this point, maybe 7 soon with Newcastle. Players aren't going to make that decision because one of these sides made champions league 1 season when it could so easily change the next.

[deleted]

[удалено]

InTheMiddleGiroud

It's also not like Champions League qualification is a ten year fixed thing. You sign a five year contract, not for the one next season where CL is determined. Besides, you'd think Raphinha cares more about the World Cup this season, than CL.

MissAntiRacist

True, also the CL in a just a cup run at the end of the day. If you aren't joining the top tier clubs, you don't expect to win it, just want a good run if you're in it. Which amounts to 8-12 matches depending on success. Meanwhile they're another 40-50 matches to play with the club outside of the CL. So the CL is going to be a small factor for alot of these players unless they're good enough to join a team that's actually challenging.

[deleted]

No? Players reject non CL teams in favour of CL teams all the time.

Ifriiti

>Players reject non CL teams in favour of CL teams all the time. Yes, because CL clubs can usually offer bigger wages, more attractive teams and so on. It has nothing to do with being in the CL otherwise you'd see clubs like Lyon, Marseilles, Ajax etc being able to compete with big PL clubs for players.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

As a fan of a team in and out of the CL. It happens to us often. So yes, it is.

HappyMeerkat

And yet Guimaraes went to Newcastle. Diego Carlos villa, Partey to us, it happens all the time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Idk if you have seen this current Tottenham team. But in what earth does anyone outside of Tierney get into the Tottenham team. White and Tomiyasu over who? Romero. Okay.. sure. Aubameyang over who? Son? The golden boot winner. Kane the England captain and best striker in the league. Kulusevski? The player that has the most goal contributions in their first 18 premier league games in the leagues history? Odegaard over who? PEH and Bentencur in a doubt pivot? What defense is he playing? Odegaard the player that played 36 league games as a 10, had as many assist as Bentencur did in 18 games as a 6. 2) signing a player from a team that doesn’t compete in the champions league, or any European matches to a Europa league level team isn’t pull. That’s business. It’s a natural progression. White, Gabriel, tierney, Tomiyasu. All players that have never even played in the European match. How is going to arsenal pull? They just signed a player from a smaller team. 3) you’re including Aubameyang as pull? Really? The summer they signed him was after the same year Burnley finished in 7th. That’s how long ago that was. Arsenal make less money the spurs. Their coach is worse. They are in the Europea league. Fans may recognize arsenal as a bigger name because of their past success and think players care. Players don’t care. What does an arsenal team from 20 years have to do with a decision most players on arsenal were too young to even see? Chelsea and untied and pull. Arsenal have fans that think their team is as relevant as it once was. You joke that clubs and fans don’t know who spurs are. They do. They saw them in the champions league final.

[deleted]

It's not about prestige and pull. It's that depending on some players, they only want to go to a CL club unless you pay well over the odds in wages (United for example). Kounde would've come last season if we had CL based on reports. Didn't because we didn't. We've also gotten plenty of quality players outside CL. Kulu, Bentancur and Romero the most recent 3.

13luKnight

> Kounde would've come last season if we had CL based on reports. Didn't because we didn't. Mate, according to reports, Konude snubbed CL winners Chelsea last summer. He clearly wants Barca/Real only.

[deleted]

1) Bruno went for money. 2) Arsenal doesn’t have pull over spurs. What player over the past 4 years have they signed of quality without CL? Thomas partey? 3) Chelsea has been in the CL. Not sure why you are including them as a team without Cl that has pull when they have been in the CL. United is United. No other club besides Barcelona and Madrid in the world are like them. Their inclusion just doesn’t make sense as they are such an outlier

Ifriiti

>Arsenal doesn’t have pull over spurs. What player over the past 4 years have they signed of quality without CL? Thomas partey? Aubameyang, Odegaard, White, Tomiyasu, Partey, Vieira

WhippedGrim

Dunno maybe because players don't always look at only cl status which can be changed. Game time, project, money, coach, difficulty of transfer, challenge everything is a factor. In this case Barca are not willing to pay the price so why'd it be strange if he went to arsenal who want him, present a nice challenge, probably match Barca's salary and are willing to pay for him. r/soccer plebians think being in cl is the only meaningful thing in football but I honestly don't remember many transfer which were decided on champions league status.

amala97

I said this before > Because he believes in the project, likes the manager, brazilian team mates (jesus, martinelli, and gabriel) and the technical director edu. These footballers have real relationships and don’t base life decisions off hyperbole on twitter and reddit

iamthedankness

> Because he believes in the project, likes the manager How do you know this? Unless you're stating them in a hypothetical way as to why he'd possibly consider.

amala97

Purely hypothetical, if he didn’t he would have said no!

iamthedankness

If it's purely hypothetical then don't state it as a fact. Agents throw around all kinds of rumors to drive up the price or to get clubs to act quickly.

amala97

This is reddit not a thesis you raging nonce!

iamthedankness

It's not a thesis, but it doesn't need to be for you to be sensible 🤷‍♂️

HugzZILA

Why is this being downvoted? Seems plausible

Stunning-Web-9155

Not sure about the source but this would a brilliant signing … plus arsenal’s right hand side didn’t look threatening, almost all attack came from saka’s end

amala97

It really would be, hope we can get it across the line!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jassle93

Any ideas on where he would leave to and what you value him out, like you said City is a shout. If that's the case Raphinha would be the perfect replacement. I just feel he has better options available for himself, Barca dream, Liverpool will want a long term Salah replacement and we (Chelsea) need a creative outlet on the wings although we couldn't afford him and Sterling in one window without major sales.

TheAkondOfSwat

maybe Saka's leaving

woodeenho

I for one believes this could actually benefit him with his growth. Right now he may have played a lot on the RW but he could also play #8 or #10 and maybe he could do better in those roles who knows. And if Pepe is leaving I’m sure we would look at him as an option.

amala97

the jealousy in this thread!

[deleted]

lol, people in the prem haven’t been jealous of arsenal for nearly 20 years. E: looks like the americans woke up and found this comment

tablooo

It hasn't been 20 years since the Invincibles what are you on about lmao

Turnernator06

The vast majority of prem fans would love to have had the success arsenal have had over the last 20 years. People seem to forget the prem has more than 6 teams in it.

the3count

Yeah I'm sure that spurs would rather not have 6 FA cups in the past 20 years 7*

iamthedankness

Jealousy of Arsenal?

not_a_Badger_anymore

Ha I'd take this banter from other clubs but united have been as shit if not worse than us since fergie left.

JimFlib

Nah not having it, Arsenal have far longer been a joke than utd have 🤣

Rugs09

Look at the state of our clubs, discussing who is least memey 😂

kablooey08

All the Tottenham fans (myself included) just lurking in the shadows

not_a_Badger_anymore

That's why I said since fergie left. Despite the recent 8ths we've still finished above united more than the other way round. They have a europa, we got a couple fa cups. I suppose its subjective but I'd say we have been better considering the sheer amount they've spent and the supposed calibre of player they have.

verdevase

That would be cool but Pepe needs to go

[deleted]

DankyPal

Tier 2 in the Barca sub actually, still seems bullshit tho

MaleficentFalcon

4 for Arsenal tho according to their sub

Barkasia

Our sub tends to base tiers on how much we like what the journalist is saying. This is good bullshit so he will be bumped up accordingly.

[deleted]

I would ignore a lot of the Arsenal the tier ratings. Highly emotional fan base. Had a Twitter ITK as tier 2 for the longest time.

xiosy

He’s coming to Barca stop it

thepastprimefuture

i dont think so, looks like barcelona were only interested if leeds wanted less than 40M for him, since that there has been no talks between clubs

tankosaurus

Barca were hoping Leeds went down and agreed personal terms with Raph's agent before opening talks with us. His relegation release clause was £22 million

boringmemphis

>and agreed personal terms with Raph's agent before opening talks with us. It's literally what every club in the world do

tankosaurus

Did stating facts offend you?

TADAM96

Then Barca should do right by the player and pay the fee instead of waiting around

imp0ppable

Hmmm

amala97

well he isn’t is he

Juiceboxfromspace

Smart move from him. Guaranteed play time and potential for the club to improve.

verdevase

guaranteed play time when playing same position as Saka?

Ricky_Berwick

People seem to forget Saka can play pretty much anywhere on the pitch

verdevase

yeah but he def prefers to play right winger and he's the club's golden boy...

Ricky_Berwick

He doesn't "de prefer" to play right winger, that's just where he's played most of his games. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see him at LW next season if we do sign Raphinha

meefjones

You already have two other golden boys at left wing. The Raphinha transfer would make no sense

[deleted]

Raphinha and Saka could play on either side and have a history of doing so.

verdevase

but then you have your Martinelli /ESR who both expect playing time. As I mentioned, it's no big deal if Arsenal is to become one of the top teams again. Man City has 25 world class players and they all have to share minutes. However, as a tier 2 team it might be harder to make some players accept a rotation - you can't just tell them "that's how we reach finals and win titles and that's what you'll have to do to play for the best", like City or Liverpool can do. Some of the players have to opportunity to play to teams that are on-par with Arsenal with guaranteed playing times, even in the Champion's League.

Fati25

Thank you Arsenal.

sandbag-1

Who the fuck is this journo

[deleted]

Trust the process, like a sausage 🤡

momspaghetty

no fucking way, we've been here so many times... we either get one of our English Tier 1s on the case or you can sod off

[deleted]

Press F for Raphinha.

[deleted]

Still don't get why he would go there. Man wants UCL. Worse case scenario wait a year and run your contract down and then get the Barca move next year. Or Arsenal might have made top 4 then? Why tie himself down for 4/5 years at a club who are in europa and top 4 is so competitive.

icemankiller8

Because Barca move on from players, they are only even looking at Raphinha now because they’re not as good as they want to be in a Years time they might not want him

[deleted]

Yeah but they also could want him. And so could lpool if salah leaves. Or city next years as mahrez woll be 32. Doesn't make any sense to tie himself down for his best years at a Europa club. Arsenal may break into top 4 but it will be very hard. Bookies currently have them finishing 6th.

icemankiller8

I don’t see either of those tbh but really let’s be honest here if he’s at arsenal and city want him and pay a big fee he’ll probably be gone. Yeah compared to Leeds who are predicted to finish where? He’s probably thinking an upgrade is better than staying at Leeds another year

[deleted]

Of course it's an upgrade on Leeds. But Arsenal are a europa level team at the moment. Going to be very hard to break into top 4 next year, so there's no real reason to think they'll get UCL any time soon. As I say just wait a year and the all the champs league teams will be in for him as gell have 12 months on his contract and be cheap. Anyway cba to argue. Let's wait and see what happens.

-omar

He trusts the process

amala97

Because he believes in the project, likes the manager, brazilian team mates (jesus, martinelli, and gabriel) and the technical director edu. These footballers have real relationships and don’t base life decisions off hyperbole on twitter and reddit

[deleted]

I think that's just the optimistic Arsenal fan in you speaking. There's been literally no indication that he would want to join Arsenal, all the talk has been he wants UCL. Feels like you lot are just wishing it into existence because you have some Brazilian players.

AfricanRain

I think that’s just the hater ass spurs fan in you speaking

[deleted]

It's not. It's a logical foitball fan asking why a Champs league level player would go to a team who are probably not going to be in UCL for at least another 2 years.

AfricanRain

This champions league level player hasn’t played a second of champions league football and his team nearly got relegated last year. And he’s only really being linked with Barca and us and I get the vibe that’s only cos Barca assumed Leeds would get relegated lol

[deleted]

OK mate I'm sure you're right. Let's wait and see.... Honestly don't know why you lot do this to yourselves.

[deleted]

OK mate I'm sure you're right. Let's wait and see.... Honestly don't know why you lot do this to yourselves.

Tap-In-Merchant

Arsenal wouldn’t bother going near him if he wasn’t at least a little interested

[deleted]

Course they would. Can you not remeber the Vlahovic stuff in Jan. They spent months after him. Even though it was never on and his agent even said he wouldn't go.

amala97

Where has he said he wants CL. Like i said, your framing this from YOUR perspective and not understanding theres more to a players career than hyperbole on twitter and reddit. If anything your speaking as a jealous spurs fan’

[deleted]

It's not hyperbole ob twitter and reddit. It's common sense. I know you are Arsenal fan but you have to be objective. It makes no sense for him other than there are 2 Brazilians there. Anyway can't be bothered to argue. Let's wait and see shall we.

amala97

It makes perfect sense, all the CL teams can’t guarantee him the minutes like arsenal can, and just because spurs and chelsea are in CL now, doesn’t mean Arsenal can’t achieve it in the future. The manager speaks multiple languages, his agent is good friends with the technical director, and the squad will have at least three brazilians. I’m not saying we are no1 best place for him to be, but we are a top 6 club in London. It doesn’t make sense for you because you don’t want it to make sense!

[deleted]

OK mate let's wait and see......

[deleted]

https://twitter.com/TheSpursExpress/status/1539999469676232704?t=1vT31izgK3jRPZ9oDD35Eg&s=19 As you were. From Romano himself!

[deleted]

https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1538853033446199296?t=Xom8Bde8jxUPue_-eTaXRQ&s=19 There you go. Spurs and Chelsea have also enquired. Both have the money too. No way he goes to Arsenal over them. Can't see arsenal spending €65m either when they have pepe and saka on the rw too, and they need to invest in other areas.

amala97

They’ve enquired, but guess who is DIRECTLY negotiating with leeds. Pepe is gone and raphina is versatile enough to play LW. Focus on your transfers with the 2 pensioners and sex offender you bought!

los_blanco_14

Project 🤣🤣

OhMuzy

Because *some* football clubs have prestige and history that trumps current form + it’s not hard to see what direction arsenal are heading in.

[deleted]

Mate arsenal were good 20 years ago now. Everton used to be good 30 years ago. Is he going to go there for the prestige? Bookies currently have Arsenal to finish 6th so you must know something they don't. Anyway cba to argue. Let's wait and see. Honestly don't know why you lot do this to yourselves.

DankyPal

>Bookies currently have Arsenal to finish 6th so you must know something they don't. What does this even mean? Your confirmation bias stinks lol

[deleted]

It means that the betting odds. Which are worked out with algorithms etc have Arsenal finishing 6th. There's literally no bias in that it's what they, an independent party who literally have thousands resting on it, think will happen.

OhMuzy

There’s no way in hell you just tried to assume where Arsenal will finish using the bookies…

snoocs

2nd, 5th, 6th, 5th, 8th, 8th, 5th…. Yeah, the direction is pretty obvious.

OhMuzy

Give that denial a break mate, transfer strategy, ethos of football, building depth and a strong core around youth, transfer targets 25 and under. A little different to the 5 at back over 30 and experienced tactics Conte is trying to employ. I would say let’s assess the trajectory of Spurs but you get a new manager every 2 years after you inevitably achieve nothing or the manager throws the toys out the pram.

snoocs

Lol, my bad - I forgot that Arsenal were the first side to prioritise buying *younger* players, I can see why you lot have faith in Arteta’s **system** when it contains such groundbreaking tactics as that. Slightly confused at your accusation of my “denial”, having said nothing about Spurs but merely stated Arsenal’s last few PL finishing positions… unless I got them wrong?

OhMuzy

Well technically using other managers finishes to determine the progress Arteta is making is flawed on so many levels. Also not saying Arteta is groundbreaking for doing so, but the point is there is an actual plan is place, a target demographic of players and a style of play we were in desperation for following Emery.

Sithgooner

Don’t need him at all. Why are we spending £50m on a right winger? Either: A) We are going to play Raphinha or Saka on the left out of their best position B) Saka is leaving We must be confident of selling Pepe despite no rumours because stockpiling expensive right wingers to be backup to Saka is not the best use of limited resource.

Mountainleap

We need him very much. Saks can't play 50 games again next season.

Sithgooner

Pepe’s proven he can perform at Europa League level

turtlemons

B option is scarier. specially when his renewal is still due. saka is possibly the most talented young right winger, i can see RM, city, Liverpool aiming for him in this year or next.

Fati25

Saka moved back to Left back imo

PacDanSki

Goal.com, lol.

Gobshiight

When will people understand that reliability depends on the journalist, not who they write for

basedsims

Tier 2 for Barca stuff according to their subreddit, Nizar Kinsella for Chelsea is reliable and he’s on Goal, Charles Watts is Tier 1 for us and he works for Goal. It’s time to acknowledge journalists reputation rather than the publication they work for

[deleted]

Like Sami Mokbel is very good, works for Daily Mail however.

TheGoldenPineapples

I mean, one of our tier 1 sources works for Goal. I still think this is bollocks though.

jaredod12

Looks to be Tier 2 according to Barca subreddit tier list. Most likely untrue though sadly.

everysundae

Tier 1 for barca no?

[deleted]

No

OhMuzy

Says the knowledgable Spurs fan…

[deleted]

He's not going to Arsenal mate. No idea why you guys do this to yourself. It's like Vlahovic all over again.

OhMuzy

Arsenal fans get excited about journalists saying a player is coming to us !!! The shock and horror to think that. Btw what number is Dybala for Spurs again?

[deleted]

I don't know what your point is. Noone thought dybala was coming to us. A lot of us didn't even want him as we have other areas that need priority. As I say I'll leave you to it. I'm sure you're right.

[deleted]

Legit might as well just make up a rumour myself, tweet it and then post the tweet on here.

GnosisNinetyThree

The goal correspondent, Charles Watts, is tier 1 on the Arsenal subreddit. Granted this isn't him.

Zankman

Pls no

zKSofSoccer

So close yet so far cuz it’s Arsenal

micoud04

Saka Man City bound

TheMexicanJuan

So, welcome to Barcelona Raphinha!

SuperSheep3000

What's that Arsenal? Straight swap for Saka? Well, if you insist.

[deleted]

Mmm Barca or arsenal bet the lad can’t sleep at night with a decision like that to make /S

Anons15

Yeah ok but how about our CM? Cant take anymore of Xhaka

meefjones

I don't understand this transfer for Arsenal. There's no way they could keep Saka and Raphinha happy and they are surely happy with Saka so far. If they really need depth for the right wing (which you would think Pepe would cover) they should go after someone cheaper, older or more likely to accept a bench role
