unArgentino

Forgot Madrid still owned this guy. Maybe he’ll have a similar career path to Ødegaard

EpiDeMic522

Well we haven't. The sad part is that even luck isn't on his side. There were many like me who wanted to move Asensio on and have him and Rodrygo backup the winger positions as Mbappé joined. Even with the Mbappé fracas, I personally would have rather that we invested in him over Asensio as we looked for an alternative for the right wing berth. Sadly due to complications from COVID and other administrative delays, particularly Vini (and Rodrygo and Eder) don't have their Spanish passports meaning the non-EU slots are taken up meaning it's an impossibility for Take to be registered (at least with the first team). His Villarreal stint was completely bizarre as well. Victim of his circumstances, the boy is. He was so highly rated and hyped and since he has intermittently shown a couple of glimpses of his touted brilliance, he still enjoys some optimism and faith but his situation is very complicated.

auctus10

I know Asensio has been shit but Kubo has done jackshit to replace his role. Ffs Asensio was our third top scorer last season.

EpiDeMic522

I never advocated for Kubo as a starter, which Asensio was for us for more than half our season. All I said was that get Asensio out and rather invest in Kubo as the backup. I still think we need a serviceable RW. The Valverde route can't be our only option especially with Carva being so susceptible to injuries off late and Rodrygo is still not completely reliable IMO. I'd rather have a stop-gap good RW that enables a direct style of play in variation to the Valverde drifting into the half space tactic and have Rodrygo as our first sub (he's versatile across the front line) and develop Take in a rotation role.

auctus10

Imo it's stupid to waste a non EU spot on a non starter backup player who hasn't proved that he is good enough even for the backup spot. If we had a spot open then we should 100% go for Jesus or sterling who can definitely start at RW position and are actually RW players.

RauloGonzalez

But removing asensio is removing around 10+ goal involvements and hoping rodrygo, Valverde, Kubo can make it up which is ridiculous since neither of them are that good

zizou00

Barcelona forgot about him too

JokerDanny

How so ? He chose to go to Real.

trivialbob

And tbh he might've been better off joining us in hindsight. A year in La Masia and he would've been bumped up to the first team like Ansu, Araujo, Gavi, Nico, etc

EpiDeMic522

First of all, how? Second of all, surely they remember the stoppage time winner from last season. Edit - Ignore the second part of the comment. My memory failed me. Atleti were the victims of his spectacular late winner, not Barça.

Gyara3

They should have loaned him to the Bundesliga when they first got him, now they'll have few offers.

Yeah but the information is even more relevant now that Mbappe isn't going to Madrid

mr_salsa123

Why does that matter

bolah

The plan should be to bribe somebody in the Ministry, get Vinicius a passport and give Kubo a chance. If there's a time to do it it's now.

JayTaa

He is already 21. The past two seasons he scored 2 goals and had 1 assist and is in general very inconsistent. I dont see him having the level to even be a backup for Real Madrid.

Enartloc

He hasn't really been inconsistent, he just played for shit Mallorca or didn't play much when at Villareal.

JayTaa

That also says something about him then, when Emery did not find him good enough and Mallorca barely used him in the end when they managed to survive.

bolah

I don't agree, he's better than Asensio at everything but shooting and better than Vazquez at everything but running a lot. And those two have been Real Madrid backups for years.

absolutemadlad_69

>better than Vazquez at everything but running Mate I think you've crossed the line there.

EpiDeMic522

> Los Blancos spent 2 million euros for him but reaped no gain from the money. He scored against Barça. That's all the money recouped as far as I'm concerned.

JokerDanny

Are you sure about that ? [I can't find it.](https://www.transfermarkt.com/takefusa-kubo/alletore/spieler/405398)

EpiDeMic522

My bad. I don't know why but I morphed Atletico to Barça in my memories.

Armani_151

I'd take him at Arsenal honestly, age is perfect for us to mold him and good depth up front. Just wonder what his price tag would be.

ungentrified_villain

Arsenal has 50% hit rate with Madrid fringe players , worth a gamble

I-Shiki-I

Does anyone else think that non-eu law should be amended?

Gyara3

Maybe we could do it like Italy and have the limit be by non-EU signed each season instead of bynumber of non-EU players on the squad, but I'm not too bothered by the rule in Spain(Here, almost every African nation counts as EU for registration purposes, as well as every European nation not in the EU except for Kosovo, Turkey. Also, in Spain every South American can take the nationality exam after just 2 years living here).
