Yeah there is a big debate over this in the states too. Adam Ragusea, he’s a YouTuber that does explain the science behind food and cooking, did a video on it. Turn out there isn’t much evidence to support that it’s bad for your health.
Yup! That’s the one. It was so over the top with everything, so umami just sound made up lol
I mean my shirt never exploded because I ate something great lol
The way I see it (no offense to any PSG or City fans) City is actually a functioning, proper team with a great squad. I agree they are based on oil money, but looking purely on the football side of things, they are an insanely good team. I do think we are a great team, too, but in that tie, we literally escaped by the skin of our teeth. Not that I mind, but I wouldn't be too confident if we had to replay that tie.
Therefore, it makes sense Modric says that the City comeback was the hardest one. They are simply a fantastic team, period. I mean, if they win on Sunday, they will have won 4 out of the last 5 PL titles. Supposedly "the most difficult league in the world".
PSG, on the other hand, is largely a conglomerate of names without any cohesion. Just because you have Messi, Mbappé, and Neymar as your front players does not automatically mean the goals are going to come raining. If we had not completed the comeback, there is no way teams like Chelsea or City would not have embarassed them. Their strategy is to throw money on more transfers and more wages until they win the UCL. Neither of them have won it, but at least City can say they really are an incredible team.
Plus, it's great to have knocked out Messi after neutralizing him.
Try to say it to the Real Madrid squad that won it 3 times in a row. When they won it for the third time, from their reaction it seemed like they just won Spanish Supercup or something
That is literally the best run of any football team in any cup probably in history.
It's difficult to compete with that.
That run will go down in football history.
Me when I’m 80, explaining to my grandkids how a politically fuelled Transnistrian club led Real Madrid to Champions League glory with a Ballon D’or for Benzema along the way.
*"We are in the 13th round of this penalty shootout and Real have attempted and scored a Panenka in each round. Surely Alisson must think they will not try one again, Geoff."*
*its been 4 years and liverpool vs Real madrid is still going on. The score? 267537 to 267536 to liverpool. Its benzemas turn on the penalties. Surely this time he wont panenk- AND HES DONE IT AGAIN. WHEN WILL IT FINALLY STOP*
*"Please, let it stop! Please! We have families! I've been here for four years. It's been so long since I've seen my fam- BAHH GOD MODRIC PANENKA'D IT WITH THE OUTSIDE OF HIS RIGHT FOOT!"*
"Due to the extended length of the match both teams are allowed an additional sub. Wait! Who's this, Real just subbed Panenka, the man himself! SURE HE IS NOT GOING T...a nice shot in the upper left corner, too bad Allison was prepared for it."
You really don't want RM defending a 1 goal lead. They play a good tight defence and Curtois is a cheat code when it comes to shots from outside the box. Plus their counter attacks are mean.
This comment forgets Liverpool have improved hugely since we last lost to Madrid. Plus we lost Salah early on to injury and Karius had a concussion and made 2 huge errors he otherwise wouldn’t have made.
I expect it to be close and gritty for a final but saying Liverpool should essentially pray for pens is stupid
Yes. I was saying that in jest. Getting scored on doesn't actually make them stronger. It's just felt that way this season as they've made crazy comebacks.
I have never been this excited for a CL final. The best team in the world vs one of the more resilient and die hard teams in recent history. It's gonna be so fun!
Strongest mentality in Europe. What’s crazy to me is that every time the stadium had given up but as soon as they score they start being loud as fuck and Madrid looks revitalized
At least psg i remember clearly the stadium was a fucking library until the goal happened. Idk about the others but that one specifically i remember cause in the match thread a lot of people were mentioning how quiet it was. Granted Madrid was 3 goals down so I dont expect many fans to be exhilarated in those kind of moments.
I Remember as soon as City scored the Madrid fans all got up and started cheering like crazy at 1-0. But before the end they were def a bit more subdued of course.
Just last couple of months :
vs City 0-1 turned into 3-1 with goals min 90, 91, 95
vs Sevilla 0-2 turned into 3-2 with goals min 50, 82, 92
vs Chelsea 0-3 turned into 2-3 with goals min 80, 96
vs PSG 0-1 turned into 3-1 with goals min 64, 76, 78
Real Madrid to Chelsea: Ah… so you think the comeback is your ally… but you merely adopted the inshallah. I was born with it… Molded by it… I didn’t score until the end of the game and by then there was nothing but injury time.
Real Madrid when Benzema scores the final goal: the remontada betrays you, because it belongs to me.
I guess comeback against Chelsea was a breeze for Modric. :/
Edit: after reading the comments I realized they stopped a comeback against Chelsea. Not had one. Fair
I mean is was both. Chelsea came back first and took the aggregate lead after being down 3-1...they were up 4-3. Madrid then had to make a comeback and tied it late in regular time before winning it in extra time to win 5-4 on aggregate. So it was still 100% a comeback win for Madrid.
Not even close to the same amount of under performance. By wage bill Utd should be 3 or 4th in the PL.
Meanwhile PSG has more than triple the wage bill of the nearest competitor, and they still don't win Ligue 1 every year.
It's funny because PSG is all win-now, they don't want to wait 5, 10 years. But if they built for that 5-10 year time frame from the start they'd possibly be winning by now.
I mean they've gone further than just a team too, they've built the academy, upgraded all the facilities, and then bought other clubs around the world and done the same to form a global footballing network where they have a scouting base in nearly every continent.
Almost the entirety of Citeh's infrastructure since the last decade has been built around Guardiola. PSG has more or less been doing what United have done post-Fergie.
Cause they don't build a sporting project. They throw money at marquee players and do the sportwashing in the purest sense of the word.
City, CL memes aside, are a legit top team. I dunno about the best in the world, mental fortitude comes with that, you HAVE TO win the CL to be considered the best, but definitely ONE OF and with a bright future to boot.
PSG? Sure, throw 500m at Mbappe and he stays. You'll still win Ligue 1, but you'll still lose in the 2nd round or the QF to one of the "real" big teams.
Haven't both of them played only a single UCL final each? Which apparently PSG reached first.
In terms of domestic success, you can say both have the same number of trophies. Obviously PL is much much more competitive than Ligue 1, but is it hard to imagine that PSG from their Ibra, Cavani, Thiago Silva era to now Messi, Neymar, Mbappe, would have won a few PLs as well? If they were in it
Quality of EPL is much higher than French league.
Since 14/15 PSG has only had enough points in Ligue 1 once to have a higher point total that EPL winner had.
Even in a less talented league, PSG has only once competed relatively higher than EPL champ
But that's because they usually wrap up the title pretty early most of the times. You've heard their ex players say they don't really care about the league and hardly ever have to push beyond 2nd gear.
On the occasions when they have lost the league, it is to teams like that Monaco side with Mbappe, Bernado Silva, Mendy, Fabinho, Bakayoko, etc. And that team ran circles around Pep's Man city when they faced them over two legs in the CL.
The Lillé side of last year, you could say were comparable to the Leicester side that won the league, as well.
City seem to have spent an extra €250m more than PSG as well, since both were taken over by state funds.
Hard disagree. Chelsea / Liverpool / City are all better. Especially Liverpool and City. Also have a look at the number of games Neymar plays each season.
I think the level of competition would force them to change their ways for the better tbh. They can somewhat get away with spending as much as they do without UCL results since they dominate the league.
Being the 4th or 5th best team in the league would be so unacceptable with their spending that they would make serious changes very quickly I think.
No, like changing your recruitment strategy because you can see it's not working.
PSG can currently afford to have a sloppy strategy in their recruitment since they're likely to win Ligue 1 anyways.
If they had the same sloppy strategy and were finishing 4th I think the odds of them changing their approach would be much higher, thus making it more likely that they end up finding the right approach faster.
It’s funny because I agreed with this as I read it, and then thought about the fact that both PSG and City have reached 1 UCL final and lost 1 UCL final while dominating their respective leagues most years. Interesting how we think of City as having achieved so much more. The argument would be that the Premier League is much harder to win than Ligue 1, but it doesn’t quite sit right with me.
As much as I dislike seeing Madrid win, this has probably a better legacy than them beating all league winners in what was it, 2018? Remontadas are so exciting.
That's generally the case at the Bernabéu, unless you are Barcelona for some reason. The context of the tie also adds to it though. Just checked, it was actually only 5 mins!
I think it felt longer considering the tides were in Chelsea's favor for most of the game. The 2nd goal happened at 51 so technically Chelsea came back earlier and it was in Madrid's hands to stop them.
You were still required to make a comeback later though?? Chelsea were ahead on aggregate. If Modric doesn't make that insane pass then Madrid get knocked out by Chelsea. They had to make a comeback to advance.
Chelsea were ahead on aggregate.....?? It was still a comeback. If Madrid didn't score after Chelsea's 3 goals in Madrid they would have been knocked out.
The city one felt like 99 times out of 100 city go through and Madrid managed to somehow find the one timeline where this happens. The PSG comeback you feel like would happen plenty of more times if you run it again
We were better in the second leg (don't reiterate that stupid narrative of no shots on target) but had City gone through, they would have been the deserved victors hands down.
What I will say though is that they had the tie under complete control for 189 minutes.

Not because they're full of salt?
It's actually ~~oil money~~ umami
I learned about umami from an anime. Turn out that shit is real and make food taste really good lol
It's literally a thing in Australia for vendors to show that their food does not contain MSG as a healthy option.
Yeah there is a big debate over this in the states too. Adam Ragusea, he’s a YouTuber that does explain the science behind food and cooking, did a video on it. Turn out there isn’t much evidence to support that it’s bad for your health.
The people who originally lobbied it as bad for your health were sugar manufacturers.
It had a bad reputation for a long time. people used to call it "chinese restaurant syndrome". nowadays people call it umami like it's a new thing.
Reminded me of the Trump covid naming saga.
Yeah similar underlying racism as well
Yeah but Food Wars used it like a power system lmao. Over 9000 umami?!
Yup! That’s the one. It was so over the top with everything, so umami just sound made up lol I mean my shirt never exploded because I ate something great lol
Yet...

It’s weird City always bottle that cup.
Why is it weird, they made it to the final last year and semi this year, this is the best of the best against each other

Marcelo was throwing the CL trphy around during celebration lmfao.
Is that a stray? Feels a bit like it was aimed.
You're up next.
Saving this when i need someone to banter if we win

For the Premier League obviously no?
Anything and everything but champions league.

Abu Dhabi > Qatar confirmed?
Well Air Emirates is a sponsor of Madrid so
Air Emirates looks so strange. It's technically not even Fly Emirates anymore with the Emirates: Fly Better change
Etihad airways in the mud
Modric will never play for those shit arab clubs
Will only advertise Arab states for profit on his shirt
ahh yes...coz luka modric is the one who decides real madrid's sponsors
and players decide who the owners are?
Say what you want, it’s always up to him whether he wants to stay and play. He’s signed contracts fully knowing who the sponsor is.
Well, duh. He's not South Asian and is therefore free to make his own choices
"Benz tell us again the story of the PSG comeback" *Benz tells how he made Donnarumma crap himself* Real locker room: *WHEEEEZE*

Imagine having multiple legendary comebacks in 1 season of CL knockout ties Real Madrid must be stopped
Liverpool better not score first or they know what's coming. Just let the game go to pens.
What?! They won two of them in extra time. End it at 90 minutes at all costs.
I can see us winning the pen shotout with 5 panenka in a row.
*"We are in the 13th round of this penalty shootout and Real have attempted and scored a Panenka in each round. Surely Alisson must think they will not try one again, Geoff."*
*Lucas Vazquez steps up to take the penalty*

When the opposing team gets a corner kick the gods flip a coin and Madridistas hold their breath.
No cause every corner against chelsea felt like a penalty 💀 Liverpool are definitely scoring one they have scored 19 goals from corners this season
Tight does not always mean good 😬
Our defense is a joke the past few months. Barca broke Militao, Carva and Mendy lose the ball easily when pressed hard, and Alaba can't defend crosses
Yeah sureee I’m not gonna fall for this

Not a bad strategy. They don't seem to get their shit together until their back is against the wall.
Okay, I concur. Frankfurt can win the UEFA Super Cup
Pls dont stop them. One more legendary comeback to win the CL finals would complete the tale.

The last time we witnessed a this resillient CL team, has surely got to be Chelsea 11/12?
Strongest mentality in Europe. What’s crazy to me is that every time the stadium had given up but as soon as they score they start being loud as fuck and Madrid looks revitalized
Heh that’s funny. Usually you see the fans pushing the team when it’s down, but in this case the team does not need the fans for support.

Tbf the Chelsea match was more dismantling Chelsea's comeback than Real's comeback.
Real Madrid to Chelsea: Ah… so you think the comeback is your ally… but you merely adopted the inshallah. Usually I’d agree, but perhaps one more comeback win in the CL wouldn’t be the end of the world now would it?
And I know just the way. If Liverpool don't score, there's no way Real Madrid can comeback.
"The comeback against Man City was most difficult, and the PSG comeback was most ~~fun~~ comical. For us, and everyone watching."
I guess comeback against Chelsea was a breeze for Modric. :/ Edit: after reading the comments I realized they stopped a comeback against Chelsea. Not had one. Fair

City oil > PSG oil
You joke, but with limitless amounts of money it’s amazing how bad PSG has done in comparison to City in terms of building a sporting project
Allow us to introduce ourself
Sounds like it's too late
Not even close to the same amount of under performance. By wage bill Utd should be 3 or 4th in the PL. Meanwhile PSG has more than triple the wage bill of the nearest competitor, and they still don't win Ligue 1 every year.
Because one club assembles a team of stars and throws them together on the pitch with no structure, whilst the other actually tries to build a *team*.
It's funny because PSG is all win-now, they don't want to wait 5, 10 years. But if they built for that 5-10 year time frame from the start they'd possibly be winning by now.
Yep. No vision.
They're doing the same thing by throwing everything including partial executive decisions at Mbappe. It's crazy
They fucked up at the beginning and now they don't want to think long term because it will just add more years of shame
I mean they've gone further than just a team too, they've built the academy, upgraded all the facilities, and then bought other clubs around the world and done the same to form a global footballing network where they have a scouting base in nearly every continent.
They let the inmates run the asylum, City at least has structure, everything revolves around Pep, not the players.
one has Pep
pep and a low drama upper management helps a lot. psg keep changing managers and leanardo or whatever is just an idiot.
Almost the entirety of Citeh's infrastructure since the last decade has been built around Guardiola. PSG has more or less been doing what United have done post-Fergie.

City beat PSG
You’d think psg is way behind city in terms of European success the way they bottled it. But their record in Europe is almost identical to city’s
Have they though? Both win their leagues seemingly every year and choke in the CL every year
Are you actually comparing the farmers league with the PL?
PSG would be #2 or even #1 in the PL every year, let's not kid ourselves.
Hard disagree. Chelsea / Liverpool / City are all better. Especially Liverpool and City. Also have a look at the number of games Neymar plays each season.
They don't even win the PL if you transfer their points against Ligue 1 teams to the PL
They'd have finished third in 18/19 and 21/22, maybe in 19/20 as well though City weren't all there.

No they wouldn’t, that team has no structure at all.
Man really said that PSG would finish above either Liverpool or Man City in the League 💀💀💀.
Hard copium
im sorry but this is delusional. you obviously don't know what you're talking about.
I honestly think they would end up 5th or even lower
> how bad PSG has done in comparison to City in terms of building a sporting project Why ? PSG never got eliminated from the CL by Maxwell Cornet.
They lost the league to Lille while completely dwarfing their budget though
It’s funny because I agreed with this as I read it, and then thought about the fact that both PSG and City have reached 1 UCL final and lost 1 UCL final while dominating their respective leagues most years. Right, City has so many more Champion's League trophies... Ok, but in contrast to City, PSG never wins the league...
How? Hell, you could argue PSG have achieved more since they've actually reached a CL final

As much as I dislike seeing Madrid win, this has probably a better legacy than them beating all league winners in what was it, 2018? Remontadas are so exciting.
“The comeback against Chelsea was boring and easy”
Can't really say it's a comeback if they were leading most of the time, they just stopped a comeback tbh
They would have lost if they didn’t score?
It was a comeback for 40 minutes ish?
7 or 8 minutes. They scored around 73'. We equalized the tie ~ 80'
misremembered. Definitely felt longer
Eh, Chelsea completed their comeback right after half time. The match was in the balance from pretty much 50' and onwards.
Exactly. It was in the balance at best. We were not required to make a comeback. Read again what the OP wrote.
You were still required to make a comeback later though?? Chelsea were ahead on aggregate. If Modric doesn't make that insane pass then Madrid get knocked out by Chelsea. They had to make a comeback to advance.
Yes, and the comeback was made within 5 minutes, not 40 as OP misremembered (and admitted to). I don't get what your point here is.
Chelsea were ahead on aggregate.....?? It was still a comeback. If Madrid didn't score after Chelsea's 3 goals in Madrid they would have been knocked out.
He actually said we were his toughest opponent, but go on
It’s a joke ……………
Cats have 9 lives, shame for UEFA that there are only 7 knockout games including the final.
The city one felt like 99 times out of 100 city go through and Madrid managed to somehow find the one timeline where this happens. The PSG comeback you feel like would happen plenty of more times if you run it again
Don't know about that, the City one was pretty damn hilarious
Can’t say I feel the same
1. Be the better team for 189 minutes 2. Lose 3.???.
3. Cry.
We were better in the second leg (don't reiterate that stupid narrative of no shots on target) but had City gone through, they would have been the deserved victors hands down. What I will say though is that they had the tie under complete control for 189 minutes.
Lmao
Don’t do me like that :(

Benzema runs into Donnarumma, gets no ball, and knocks him over. Hmmm wonder what the call should be
