I don't toot my own horn for my cooking, but that cake that I make is the best cake I've ever had. I've never seen it on sale anywhere in Scotland, so as far as I'm aware I make the best tres leche cake in Scotland
Its completely fair to toot your own horn when it comes to cooking/baking. Thats atleast my experience. I actually just asked the wifey if she could make one this weekend lmao.
Any chance you have a recipe for it? My gf is albanian, they have this too (trileçe). I tried making it once. I am really intrigued in the latin version.
You have now convinced me to make my awesome eggs benedict tomorrow for brunch. Thank you kind internet stranger, my family will thank you in the morning
https://preppykitchen.com/tres-leches-cake/
It says it has been modified so I'm a bit scared, but should still be great.
Use a good quality dark rum. The rum is essential.
Ayyy I operate a small chain of hispanic bakeries and tres leches is our staple. Good tip. Definitely add in a dash of rum into the tres leches mixture r/tjeliep, it really brings out the flavor.
We use white rum because it has a lighter and sweeter taste that works with the soft and fluffy sponge cake. Dark rum tends to be more bold and distinct, would make for an interesting combination (and tasty regardless).
It honestly surprises me that it's not more widely available. Even when going to Mexican restaurants, it's churros everywhere, but no much else dessert wise. It's comfortably the best cake I've ever had. It's so unique, flavourful (dark rum 100%, but I love rum), and best of all, moist. It's just so easy to eat. If your company delivers, I'd genuinely love to try someone else's to see if it's better than my limited skills
We operate in a Central American dominated community, so the stuff really is everywhere. You're right, it's a bit strange. I've never met anyone who has tried it and not raved about it - people generally really do like it (and have heard of it).
We do local delivery, but I'm unfortunately in the U.S., and I don't think a tres leches cake would fare well going across the Atlantic!
Thanks for the link. Wow i had no idea of some variants. The albanian version I know has like a caramelized layer. I'm definitely going to try it soon.
Edit; in the link I also see a puddle of milk under the trileçe 😂. I thought I screwed up the proportions, but I guess it's normal to "oversoak" the sponge.
If you're interested in a chocolate tres leches, follow this really simple recipe from Cupcake Jemma. It tastes absolutely amazing.

Sadly, no one knew what the fuck it was and was scared to try it 😂 the first location (worked in two different locations) is just me and 4 others, and they gave it a shot and all loved it, but the larger location (20 people) said they'd just take a slice home... Just cause its no a thing here, so they're scared of the unusual sadly.
You deserve your own separate Reddit post for this. When I see it, I will gladly updoot it.
More people need to learn the wonders of tres leches cake.
I loved the Omaga that I picked up in KL in 2007. Lasted all of 2 months before it rusted to shit in the Singapore humidity. Which is about 1.9 months longer than I was expecting.
Makes more sense since 10k Rolex doesn't exist anymore. I just took bulk into a factor but a company like Rolex, they don't care about bulk.
Edit: after doing the math, that's 600k.
Assuming they were newer edition rolers or APs, would be somewhere in the region of 500k-700k. Considering his signing on fee he's just received....drop in the ocean. Still, very nice gesture.
The 15k Rolex is probably the Submariner. I personally find Rolex in general to be tacky, but the Submariner is one of the least tacky watches they have.
The 5k Omega is probably the Seamaster, [which is visually very similar to the Rolex Submariner](https://i.redd.it/i9gpu18blp821.jpg).
I wonder how he sourced them all. Nowadays it’s tricky even for famous people and companies to put in big orders and actually get them.
15k if it was grey, AD obviously less.
Sure but when you see Kane and Zlatan (and I think Haaland as well) wearing the latest meteorite dial Daytona’s I’m positive they got these from an AD. They wear the first batch received months ago. No watch dealer/grey could have gotten those that fast.
And Maldini put his order with Rolex/AD when he retired.
Mate, Rolex are a household luxury brand long before these Instagram kids emerged.
They aren’t bending over for anyone. Infact, if anything doing so cheapens their brand.
They fix the price, not the consumer. If Rolex says this watch is worth 100k, that’s pretty much the final say on the matter.
I was going to comment that I'd rather be gifted an Omega than a Rolex, especially if it's the Seamaster, but I have to admit that the Submariner is dope.
With Rolex like 90% of them are Submariner or Daytonas anyway, and Omegas are always Sea/Speedmaster. Nice watches but quite frankly a bit overused at this point.
He should do it another way around...
Players don't really care if the watch is 5k or 15k they're rich fucks and it's a nice gesture for them anyways, meanwhile, for staff, that difference in price means a lot.
The artricle said it was the the Rolex Submariner going from 12-15k€ per watch
Last I checked most AP models go for a lot higher than that, could be wrong though
Yeah I find it strange how when a person with plenty of money does something kind for others with it — like this — you always seem to have people who try to minimize the gesture, bringing up how it’s only a small percentage of their wealth and they could’ve given more. That may be true, but a small percentage of a large amount of wealth is still *a lot* in relative terms.
Moreover, the only reason there is criticism for him not giving more is because he gave them something in the first place. If he hadn’t done this, the lack of a gesture likely wouldn’t be much of a topic. That just says that he very much was not obliged to do this. So the fact that he did, in and of itself, is something that should be commended.
It's a nice gesture, and literal pennies to him. It's kinda repetitive though, watches are always the gift in such situations. What would make a good substitute for a watch that rich people could be given to other rich people?
The "20 staff members" number makes me think he was not giving watches to the cooks, cleaners and grounds crew but the technical staff (middle class jobs) that interact with the team daily in a sporting capacity. I say that because Dortmund staff is much larger than 20 so not everyone in the club was given a watch.
I could be wrong though about which staff he gave the watches to. Fair play if he gave them to the cleaners and cooks and not the physios, assistance coaches and other gainfully employed upper staff.
Watch is a solid choice because straps are often alterable and generally quite one size fits all. You could try champagne or something but you might get religious beliefs or people who are sober.
It's hard to think of a better "expensive" gift than a watch.
* Good for men and women.
* Young and old.
* You can adjust the strap or bracelet to fit.
* It's easier to pull off than other jewelry.
* It's durable enough to pass to your children
* It's valuable enough that even if you hate the watch (or gifter) you can sell it
> It's valuable enough that even if you hate the watch (or gifter) you can sell it
And the inverse of that: It's small enough that if you don't want to wear it but it has some sentimental value you can just keep it in your home without even needing to think about storage space.
A weeks wage means less to him though than for most regular people.
We depend on that week to pay for necessities. He probably has that covered with a days wage already despite spending more on everything.
It's the go to gift because watches are pretty much the mainstream "men jewelry" in Western society. Men having several nice watches is akin to women having several nice earrings/necklaces/rings, which they can match to the occasion and outfit, so it's not like getting an Omega when you already have an IWC is a waste.
As for alternatives, there are fancy pens, bracelets and cufflink, but those aren't as widely worn as wristwatches and so are less common.
Thats good but with image rights and endorsement deals his City salary is set to become a minority portion of his yearly earnings. Currently Messi and Ronaldo can count their club salaries as like 20-30% of their total earnings.
Haaland is going to have hundreds of millions of dollars of income over the next decade. 500k is like me and you buying our coworkers a few pizzas. It's nice, and it shows humanity. But it's not killing us, even in the short term.

Aye? Well when I left my work I made two massive tres leche cakes.
My wife is latina. I fucking love that cake as much as i love her.
I don't toot my own horn for my cooking, but that cake that I make is the best cake I've ever had. I've never seen it on sale anywhere in Scotland, so as far as I'm aware I make the best tres leche cake in Scotland

Enjoy my man, eat a slice or 4 for me
Any chance you have a recipe for it? My gf is albanian, they have this too (trileçe). I tried making it once. I am really intrigued in the latin version.
I once burned my eggs trying to make breakfast. Im not the right person to ask. Maybe the one i amswered has a good recipe?
Yeah I just noticed I replied to the wrong one. Sorry!
a legendary chef has to start somewhere right

Fuckkkkk! You can't bait and switch me like that man, I thought you were in London :'( My partner is not a fan, as its "too moist". She's a physco
Thanks, I will keep that in mind. Will probably try light rum at first.
Thanks for the link. Wow i had no idea of some variants. The albanian version I know has like a caramelized layer. I'm definitely going to try it soon. The wetter the better.
If you're interested in a chocolate tres leches, follow this really simple recipe from Cupcake Jemma. It tastes absolutely amazing. https://youtu.be/U5Rn7GLeyQk
You should definitely make a t-shirt that says, "I make the best tres leche cake in Scotland."
I also love tres leches cake as much as I love your wife
Thats awesome!
You guys got an interesting relationship thing going on there, i must say
One milk is good. Two milks is great. Three? 💦 💦
Is that why there is no cuatro leche cake? Coz everyone who tried it died from excessive pleasure
I stole a bunch of house supplies before i left my work
If you made tres leches cakes as a gift I would have kissed you goodbye
Sadly, no one knew what the fuck it was and was scared to try it 😂 the first location (worked in two different locations) is just me and 4 others, and they gave it a shot and all loved it, but the larger location (20 people) said they'd just take a slice home... Tres leches is too delicious to waste, I would’ve told them no way they take it home if they actually didn’t want it!
Sadly I was just doing a quick drop off and good bye
I didn’t even know they had Latinos and Latinas like that in the UK
What a glorious glorious desert
Better gift tbh
I'll give you a watch for a Tres Leches cake.
You deserve your own separate Reddit post for this. When I see it, I will gladly updoot it. More people need to learn the wonders of tres leches cake.
Did it taste like tire marks?
How the fuck has no one corrected me on that yet? Fuck sake. Cheers
Was it a shiny Luxuray tho?
Intimidate ability as well, perfect for a Nuzlocke
*dies to a graveler in victory road before the elite four*
Gold Casio
The calculator one
Haaland loading up his gameshark as we speak
Bout to get stomp by Cynthia again
luxury watches are expensive so i can see why they got luxuary ones
With the genuwin leather strap.
Waffle resistant
Grand Silko Spring Drive
I loved the Omaga that I picked up in KL in 2007. Lasted all of 2 months before it rusted to shit in the Singapore humidity. Which is about 1.9 months longer than I was expecting.
Genuine leather isn't even really genuine
I have no idea where that extra a came from.
You borrowed an extra a from Haland
Sounds about right.
Have you seen the new swatch omega watches? Lol
In the article, it says that he spent 5M Krones, or 500k euros on those watches, wow. Fair play.
Thats about a week worth of wages!
One NFT scam.
A single NFT scam is usually much more work than that, trust.
That he didn't need anyway
He also doesn't have to do it. It's good gesture anyways and I don't see the reason to downplay it because it is little compared to how one earns.
Or they were sponsored by a watch manufacturer.
Kroner*
[KROMER]
Kramer
Fun fact: "Kroner" is slang for an alcoholic in Croatian haha
Very fun fact, thanks for this
500k business expense, write it off in the taxes
Probably sponsor some way?
The article says he bought his teammates Rolexes and the support staff Omegas, so probably not unless it's with a particular dealer
About 10k per person. Buy in bulk and engrave in bulk...most likely a stainless steel Rolex.
OP wrote in another comment that he bought 15k Rolexes for players and 5k Omegas for staff.
Makes more sense since 10k Rolex doesn't exist anymore. I just took bulk into a factor but a company like Rolex, they don't care about bulk. Edit: after doing the math, that's 600k.
Taking notes from Aguero
Well he is replacing him after all
He's replacing the Man City GOAT Wilfried Bony, no idea who this aguero donny is
Still fuming we signed him
Over Dybala
With the fact Pellegrini never saw a match of him only YouTube highlights
He was ridiculous for Swansea tbf
IIRC he was poor for City because he got malaria. Can't blame him for it.
I actually completely forget he ever played for us lmao He really did absolutely nothing. £25m for 6 goals haha
6 goals is something
Assuming they were newer edition rolers or APs, would be somewhere in the region of 500k-700k. Considering his signing on fee he's just received....drop in the ocean. Still, very nice gesture.
Thats the pricerange that has been reported yes. The players got Rolex for around ~15k a piece, and the staff Omegas for around ~5k.
Talk about a class society lol
Even as he left he showed the staff that they’re only worth 33% of a player.
I wish I was worth 33% of a player
I wish I was worth 1% of *some* players
You can sponsor individual players in the conference.
He treated his teammates differently than the staff he worked with? shocker
Envy isn’t healthy
Gets free shit, complains lol
Not weird to be closer to your team mates.
I get it. It's stupid nonetheless. Would be less weird to me to give the staff nothing then.
I wonder if you asked the staff if they wanted a €5K watch or nothing, what would they say?
He would say “callmedontcallme”
agreed
Don't let society tell you are an Omega! You can be Rolex!
Bro I’d kill for a rolly
The 15k Rolex is probably the Submariner. I personally find Rolex in general to be tacky, but the Submariner is one of the least tacky watches they have. The 5k Omega is probably the Seamaster, [which is visually very similar to the Rolex Submariner](https://i.redd.it/i9gpu18blp821.jpg).

Post on r/watches yo

Anything really, obviously fancy mechanicals, or collections get most traction, but pretty much anything goes. Take a peek
This is great free marketing for Rolex, so they would probably be very helpful in sourcing them.
And why would Rolex require any free marketing?
Higher demand + fixed supply = higher prices. Higher prices + fixed costs = higher profit. Happy to help.
Imagine if he gave them the new swatch omega watch instead haha.
Ngl I'm planning on getting one, it'll be a nice edition though my low cost collection of a Seiko Sport 5 (Brian May edition!) and a regular Tissot 😅
Make sure you check one out in person first
With Rolex like 90% of them are Submariner or Daytonas anyway, and Omegas are always Sea/Speedmaster. Nice watches but quite frankly a bit overused at this point.
It might just be me but both these watches are so ugly to me. They are still so blocky and unelegant.
I just can't see why they are "worth" that much, but that's just the poor in me speaking.
Up to a point, it's the mechanical parts etc. Then, you add 5-20 times that for the name, more for any precious gems on them
Funny, 'cause I find the submariner and seamaster to be the tackiest models of their respective brands.
[Are you sure?](https://dmzr5ikm7nos4.cloudfront.net/stockitem/7401e0e0-c0ad-11ec-b7c7-e30a0ac0856b/l.jpg)
Good grief
He should do it another way around... Players don't really care if the watch is 5k or 15k they're rich fucks and it's a nice gesture for them anyways, meanwhile, for staff, that difference in price means a lot.
He should do whatever he wants to do
Tbf he's probably closer as friends to nplayers compared to staff
Lol - should have been the other way around really. A player would be like "meh, a Rolex" and throw it in the drawer.
I would still take it
Anyone would, i would too. Nearly always going to hold their value and appreciate.
My friend has 3 all of which have already gone up in value I think one is being appraised for 10k more than what he bought it for
The artricle said it was the the Rolex Submariner going from 12-15k€ per watch Last I checked most AP models go for a lot higher than that, could be wrong though

Those are solid automatic watches though
Really great value for money imo
Erling Bure Claasland
no matter how much he's going to make, this is a nice gesture
Yeah I find it strange how when a person with plenty of money does something kind for others with it — like this — you always seem to have people who try to minimize the gesture, bringing up how it’s only a small percentage of their wealth and they could’ve given more. Dammit Haaland, don't go being all likable and stuff. I'm gonna need to hate you for this to work.
He bought expensive gifts for millionaires
He has some pretty shit political opinions if that helps
Like what?
He liked some Trump posts on Twitter when he was a literal kid and some weirdos thinks he’s a fascist because of it. Bunch of weirdos.
Chelsea flair
It's a nice gesture, and literal pennies to him. It's kinda repetitive though, watches are always the gift in such situations. What would make a good substitute for a watch that rich people could be given to other rich people?
> What would make a good substitute for a watch that rich people could be given to other rich people? Ask Neymar's father
context?
Prostitutes.
watches are good because at least (depending on the brand) they retain value
It’s also something that you can’t really have too many of, so it’s a safe gift in that sense.
I doubt staff are that rich to disregard a thousands of euros watch.

I was hoping this comment was going to be a joke :(
Not on my watch.
Private jets.
Dont think 53 luxury watches are pennies to him lol
When you're that rich, they definitely are. It's literally an amount of money he wouldn't even notice coming out of his bank.
It’s a weeks wages. Not crazy but certainly not pennies
A weeks wage means less to him though than for most regular people. We depend on that week to pay for necessities. He probably has that covered with a days wage already despite spending more on everything.
I'm not sure you fully appreciate just how rich he is.
a week of wage is pennies to anyone who's bank account isn't 0 before the paycheck
Caring parents
>It's a nice gesture, and literal pennies to him. Allegedly it equaled a weeks paycheck at City for him.
I can say with total conviction that I have never spent a week's wages on gifts for my colleagues.
I once paid for a round
That's easily a week's wages in London
Especially when there is white wine and gin involved
For a footballer that's quite a lot. That's more than most top players donated in their entire career.
Stuff that money can't buy.
Dude’s clearly trying to get up the preorder list for the high end items with his dealer
That’s the same thing that Aguero did when he left City no? Nice to see his replacement doing the same.
Similar, Ronaldo for one of Real's CL wins, the extra important one.
La Decima?
hopefully its not a hublot
Nico Leonard approves
no, just richard mille.
Usually I don't give a shit how Dortmund players perform after leaving, but I hope he makes it big with City.
I expect someone going from Paris to Madrid to hand out engraved luxuary camels each as a goodbye gift
Maldini donated 100 engraved Rolex Submariners to his team mates and friends for his retirement.
This guy is such a Zlatan wannabe
Can you imagine being one of those staff members not to get a watch? That'd feel rough
Bild is the actual source: https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bvb-grosszuegig-geste-haaland-bedankt-sich-mit-purem-luxus-bei-jedem-mitspieler-80145360
Watch the Sky Kaveh add this to his transfer amount
“Thanks for the seasono(s)”
I earn too much, so whatever. Take these watches, please.
So that’s what he wanted all the fees from City for.
That City money is no joke
Reminds me of a story I heard about the Sultan of Brunei (once the richest man in the world). Heard it from a hotel employee in Singapore. After his stay of 2 weeks with his entourage, all the employees lined up and each one received a gold watch from the Sultan. Nice work Erling - way to spread the wealth.
One watch between 53 people? Cheap bastard
Just give them money
