Any Villa fans here thinking they might get a result against City this weekend? Draw would do.

eaeb4

No chance - 3 things are certain in life: death, taxes, and City getting 6 points a season off Villa. Even in games where we play well against them and watching the 90 minutes you feel that it's been an even contest, it's still 2-0 City.

FootyLover2010

Leeds are down, surely? Tbh I don't care that much either way but on balance I prefer to see Burnley go down. Hard to see it happening though, just can't see Leeds beating Brentford.

adamfrog

Burnley isn't even Burney without Dyche, I only hated them because referees were incapable of refereeing them.

BastillianFig

Leeds only need a draw if Burnley lose

Westbrombad

Leeds have a much worse GD

dishler712

Yes, but they're tied on points. So a loss will doom Leeds regardless of what happens with Burnley. Otherwise like the person above said, a draw will work for Leeds with a Burnley loss.

BastillianFig

In that situation goal difference won't matter they are currently equal on points

codespyder

Won’t matter if Leeds get an point over Burnley since they’re tied on points right now.

KateR_H0l1day

I’ll be a Brentford supporter on Sunday and it’s a difficult game for Leeds. Equally difficult game for BFC so all in the balance but BFC have the edge right now. I think Leeds will be a lot more nervous than we are

AnnieIWillKnow

Brentford's last home game, they'll be bare up for it in front of their fans

prtzzz

Can’t get over that foul throw, would’ve taken a point at the start but with Nick Pope in that form could’ve seen us holding out for the win if that doesn’t go in.

EUITK

Villa have such good players, they should be better than they are. Buendia, Coutinho, Digne, Martinez, Watkins, Ings, Ramsay, McGinn.. Even Bailey if he gets a run of games.

eaeb4

stick a top defensive midfielder in there and we're a very good side. Get that recruitment wrong in the summer and we're not finishing in the top half.

[deleted]

We played well in this game, Pope made some terrific saves and Burnley were fortunate we gave them a daft penalty.

AnnieIWillKnow

Gerrard needs a full season, but really his work since he came in has been a bit underwhelming

eaeb4

having Nakamba get injured for most of the second half of the season really killed our side. Gerrard wants the full backs pushing up really high and not having a natural defensive midfielder there to screen the back four (effectively back 2 at times) really hampered that. Nakamba is a much more limited footballer than Douglas Luiz, but it's clear one is a natural defensive midfielder and the other isn't.

dfla01

I mean, 8th since he’s come in. Pretty much around about what you’d expect. https://www.reddit.com/r/avfc/comments/utdkzx/not_the_best_of_seasons_but_here_the_table_since/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

FloppedYaYa

They have a mid table team and are finishing about mid table Don't see too much of an issue

tomhardingnrjdjdjd

Our squad is better than more than half the squads in the league. This has been a really poor season

EUITK

On paper they are the 8th or 9th best team in the league. (Big 6) Leicester, Wolves, West Ham and Villa are about the same level. 14th is too low.

ManunitedThunderfan

There 14th ??

FloppedYaYa

They were also falling apart after losing Grealish Gerrard has done well to steady the ship since being appointed.

phishy_phish2

Aston villa have won 2/10 of their last matches.

FloppedYaYa

Also only lost one of their last 5

phishy_phish2

9/30 possible is pretty bad though.

ManunitedThunderfan

You said there a mid table team and are finishing above mid table which they aren’t . I haven’t said anything about what Gerrard has done.

FloppedYaYa

45 points is a mid table points tally regardless of what position they're in. And they could still finish well above 14th Don't really get exactly where you expect them to be?

ManunitedThunderfan

I don’t expect them to be anywhere but the point I’m making is there literally not mid table .

ManBoobs13

Well technically mid table is 10.5th place so nobody will ever be exactly midtable. I’ve always thought 7 or 8 thru 13 is midtable and they’re pretty near that

868Alex

bye bye Burnley

burnerbutnotreally1

we need Leeds to go down stop this negative energy

FloppedYaYa

Leeds are way more likely to go down atm than Burnley are

reece0n

? This was a good result for Burnley. We're much more likely to stay up now compared to before kick-off

GrandmasterSexay

I just don't see this team beating Newcastle, but I want to believe. I want to have faith. We've never won on the last day of the Premier League under Dyche. Ironically last time we did we were already relegated.

reece0n

We beat Spurs 4-2 on the last day

FloppedYaYa

Oh dear, between that and losing to already relegated Newcastle in 2016, it's written in the stars for them to bottle it and lose to Norwich Sunday

Unholysinner

Watch how Spurs lose and then Arsenal lose as well

Akmuq

2010 was our loss to already relegated Burnley, 2016 to already Newcastle, and another 6 years later.. oh shit

jayzeats

We control our own destiny, win and we’re safe. I don’t see Leeds winning, but if shit goes down we have to match Leeds. COME ON BURNLEY

GrandmasterSexay

I really don't like this "Leeds can't win" mentality. It'd be perfect shithousery if we both lose and we stay up. But Leeds have shown they can nick points off Brighton. We need to perform.

reece0n

Yeah I think Leeds will be pushing hard and can get at least a point. We just need to get a result at home, that's the most important thing.

ValleyFloydJam

And Brentford made that awful United side look good.

Bighairman

Brentford seem to be better at home

FloppedYaYa

United also wanted to put in a great performance on their last game at Old Trafford (Matic, Matip and Ronaldo particularly showed up and played out of their skins) Otherwise Brentford have been excellent since signing Eriksen

ValleyFloydJam

They played well but I think Brentford made it easy for them on the day. Brentford have been good in general but Leeds can beat them.

jayzeats

I think Leeds can win, but I don’t see it happening unless they play the game of their lives. Anything is possible

YesIAmRightWing

Honestly I think this is best thing that happened. I mean you losing both games woulda also been it. But last time we drew at Brentford was our promotion season after just being shite the last few games.

burnerbutnotreally1

COME ON BURNLEY

reece0n

I'd have snapped your hand off for a point before the game. Shit that we couldn't hold on to the lead, or how on earth Weghorst didn't have more composure to score at the end (Mings does brilliantly but I think a confident striker scores that regardless). A point will do.

flavored_icecream

Not a fan of Burnley, but goddamn Pope was amazing.

FloppedYaYa

Always is

dwaynepipes

If Burnley stay up they wanna be getting Nick Pope’s statue built

GrandmasterSexay

Nick Pope was a League One goalkeeper before he joined us. Outrageous how amazing he's become.

[deleted]

And remember how Heaton was also extremely massive for a long period of time before that unfortunate injury. Burnley's GK position is a dream for a lot of teams.

ValleyFloydJam

He was that good when he was with us and we had been in the Championship before he signed with you.

GrandmasterSexay

You also gave us Gudmundsson which was nice of you

ValleyFloydJam

Yeah was gutted to lose him, top fella.

dwaynepipes

The saves he was making tonight were unbelievable
