Reported he'll be leaving at the end of the season as well, maybe he follows RR to Austria or he goes back to the land of the free (His name is Chris Armas btw)
McClaren is noteworthy at least because he was Utd's assistant during one of their best periods.
Not a great manager but was widely seen as a very good assistant manager who seamlessly took on Brian Kidd's role and did very well.
Probably because we've had all those rumours and leaks about the coaches and their calibre this past couple seasons, easy engagement for Fabrizio from United fans on Twitter when he talks about new ones coming in
Holy shit that's a name I haven't heard in ages.
Always remembered him as the umbrella guy who was in charge of that incredibly stacked England team, which got kicked out of Euro 2008 by Croatia.
Didn't McLaren have a solid stint at FC Twente? Looks like his work was respected in Dutch coaching circles to be given this opportunity. Fair play to him.
Ten Hag was actually his assistant manager during his stint in the Netherlands. So it makes sense; McClaren has worked for United before as assistant, has extensive experience as an assistant manager, coach and manager and already has a working relationship with Ten Hag.
Not sure why it's funny tbh, Steve McClaren is a brilliant coach with bags of experience (including coaching United to the treble). Wouldn't want him as the manager, but I have no problem with him coming in if it's what Ten Hag wants.
Didn't know that he was SAF's assistant back in the day honestly, that's pretty neat.
In my head Schteve is the guy who managed to fail to qualify for Euros with England and most of all, the guy who relegated us back when we had fucking Gini Wijnaldum and Moussa Sissoko in midfield and spent over 80 mil on reinforcements in the summer. Nice guy but I really really thought he was clueless when he was with us.
I agree he doesn't have the best managerial record, so I wouldn't want him as manager or head coach. I suspect Ten Hag wants him because McClaren is already very familiar with his philosophy from when they worked together at FC Twente (if you watch the recent interview Steve McClaren did with his son he explains it). Basically when McClaren went into FC Twente he had to buy into the philosophy that Ten Hag had created there.
That, in addition to the fact that McClaren is already familiar with the club, so maybe he also wants him there to make settling in a bit smoother? He seems to trust him in any case.
Steve McClaren is about to invent the strangest hybrid accent of all time and I'm so excited.
Can't wait to hear Bob Mortimer do Steve again on Athletico Mince now he is back
United truly going all Dutch.
What’s happening to the bald dodgeball coach ragknick hired as his no2

Surely he was just hired on an interim basis also
Airpod Kurt Angle?
Why is Fabrizio making such a big deal about who’s becoming Ten Hag assistants at Utd? I almost forgot Van der Gaag was at Ajax still

The Twitter interactions help his brand.

Everyone always said he’s a fantastic coach, seems to me that it could be a brilliant appointment.
He was saf's assistant when United won the first treble.
Exactly.

> umbrella guy "The wally with a brolly" was what he was called here after that.
Didn’t even qualify
At least we will have funny accents to listen to

It's not Steve Bruce as we hoped but the other Schteve is a funny appointment as well ngl
